  • Still more human than Mitt Romney

  • Gawd he makes me laugh! :)))

  • Who is the woman in blue sitting next to Picard. She was in quite a few episodes as an extra, usually on the bridge. Anybody know the actresses name?

  • I met Brent Spiner at a convention and got to complement his delivery of this poem. =D

  • I for one actually liked this poem, and got a smile out of it.

  • I like Data's poem about the lady from Venus.

"There was a young lady from Venus, whose body was shaped like a...

  • @aeopmusic CAPTAIN TO SECURITY!

  • Riker :P

  • Last year in my English class we had to recite a poem and I learned this one. It was a lot of fun and I got an A!!! For short clips, what about all of the scenes in the holodeck from hollow pursuits? I don't think anyone has put all of them together yet.

  • Who is the dude sitting next to Picard?

  • @Stormwysper I think it's a woman.

  • I get a kick out of Picard's reactions being considerate every time.

  • @FCM415 He always kept it real and made 'It So".

  • That was such a great poem, the crew are dicks.

  • Here is a dare! Name a Star Trek series, an episode, cartoon, or movie and name an interesting clip or funny thing I can post. Please make it longer than just a word or a 1 sec blurp, and not anything too long; 30 seconds, a minute or two or so.

So there you have it guys, gals, and transgenderant species. That is your challenge:

  • I like his first attempt best some episodes previously, which was interrupted by Picard which went; ..."there was a young woman from Venus, Whose body was shaped like a...... Data!

  • @BradBrassman That was funny too. That was called "The Naked Now" And I think that was Season 1, Episode 3 or 4ish. It was very early on in the series.

  • Billy Corgan wrote a song about his cat ("Lily my one and only" on Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness).

  • I don't understand how anyone could fall asleep or be bored by Data's Ode to Spot, its some seriously good poetry. Atleast to me it is. I find it very aesthetically appealling. Perhaps the timing in his delivery could have been better though... more rythmic. Nonetheless I find this a beautiful poem.

  • @siliconface The ships crew in this episode is being deprived of their sleep as part of the story.

  • @OblivionRegained Aye, at least Riker is. The episode goes back and forth of weither he has been captured, and questioned by a paranoid alien race, or is he just going insane???

  • Brannon Braga is a very talented script writer in the right environment

  • Poor Will. He's so tired, and has to sit through this stupid political thingy when he's been workin' his tail off alllllll daaayyyyyy looonnnggg. Really, now Deanna. You must take much better care of that man. Uh huh. Yep. :-}

  • I love Data, easily the best character.

  • hornoxe.com/ode-to-spot/

  • EPIC !!!

  • "Riker anticipating a denouement?" I hate it when that happens.

  • Episodes that spotlighted Data were some of the best. Was there one particular writer more than others that loved to "write in" Data doing his thing?

  • @IyamwhoIyam I'll look into that. Didn't think of that, but that's a good question.

  • Dunno. What I do know is. Remember "Measure of a Man"? Where Lt. Maddox wanted to classify Data as property, take possession of him, and take him appart to duplicate him.

In any case it was a young lady, new writer, new to television writing and was new to Star Trek staff writing when she wrote the script for that episode. Someone on the special features said that that was only the fifth professional thing she wrote.

  • does any one know the name of the writer (poet really) who wrote this?

  • @blizzardballz I think it's the same as the writer for the episode. Gene Roddenberry, Brannon Braga, Jean Louise Matthias and Ronald Wilkerson are all credited as writers for this episode. I'd think it'd have to be one of them, but I'm not sure exactly.

  • @DraftMasterJohn I just found a reference in Memory (hyphen) Alpha (dot) org (fowardslash) wiki (forwardslash) talk (colon) Ode (lowline) to (lowline) Spot

  • @blizzardballz Come again? Transmission staticed, please respond. :O)

  • @blizzardballz According to Wikipedia, it was "Clay Dale, the visual effects artist."

  • @SpiritStiff even for being used in such a way, it still is a very beautiful poem; one of my favorites.

  • Hilarity.

  • The way Worf and Geordi look at each other is hilarious!

  • @jonbap426 I always loved the inter relationships that Data, Geordi and Worf had with each other.

  • Who's the guy in the background behind Data at 00:19?

  • @sabrewolf1978 Good question. I have no idea. Either he's another bystander that's a guest on the ship, Or he is part of the film crew and the camera man made a big mistake letting him in the frame. What do you think?

  • @DraftMasterJohn I'm thinking he's part of the crew shooting the series as he's just standing there but I'm not sure! :)

  • If only he had a dog named mittens

  • Ha ha. Funny.

  • Ha, ha, ha, thanks for the chuckle!!! Very funny...
