  • You still rock, doc :)

  • I honestly wasn't expecting much from this video, but it's surprisingly funny. I hope Dr. Siegel is still doing well. He was still in great voice when the video was made.

  • saw a guy driving locally with the license plate wimoweh. thinking what kinda jerk would put that on his car. oops. sorry it was jay

  • What a treat! One of the reasons YouTube was invented, for sure.

There is nothing else that can compare to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".

It truly is a one of a kind song, one of the best ever. Heard it first in 1961, at the end of 8th grade. Still gives me smiles.

God Bless you for posting this.

  • awesome. hey what's the version of lion sleeps tonight you used for the intro and outro? i don't think i've heard it on here

  • That's the original Tokens' version from 1961, featuring the gentleman in the video, Jay Siegel, on lead vocals...

  • are you sure about that? if you compare it to the version up at /watch?v=_LBmUwi6mEo (which i assume is from the 60s) the harmony is slightly different and the drums sound a bit diff too. or do you happen to have a rare original version?

  • Definitely not the 1961 version... nor the 1969 remake..... probably from the 80s or 90s.

  • yeah possibly. is the 1969 version available anywhere? is it with jay siegel or the other Tokens band ;S

  • I agree with snuggles, one hot sexy man and the voice to boot.I hope he takes this as a compliment, but alot of singers when they get older, their voices get shaky..,he doesnt have one bit of that and can still belt em out. Thanks for being Dr.Seigel up close and personal.Tell him he has eyes that could melt any womans heart.lol.Thanks for posting.

  • Wish we had more menschen in the world. Dr. Siegel, biz 120 years and zie gezundt!

  • what a dish

  • may he rest in peace

  • Rumours of Dr. Siegel's demise are wildly premature! He's fine. Alive and well and singing better than ever. Hank Medress, another original member of the Tokens, passed away in June of 2007....

  • I think the guy is sexy and sings one helluva song too

  • whats he a doctor in

  • in the video, the mighty video, the guy still looks the same.

  • lol

  • How I stumbled across this, I do not know. Here I was minding my business, rooting around for "Lion Sleeps Tonight" clips, and I get this? A tribute to Jivin' Ivan Bodley by Jay Siegel??? Holy Cow! I think I must've crossed into another dimension...

  • That guy DOES NOT AGE!!!!

  • ok so i have concluded that he looks like the 'evil' guy on rattatoille...not to be like mean or anything...but he kinda does

  • if you're saying that dr. siegel has a face that is full of character and expression, and that as the gifted performer he is that he could make millions of dollars in hollywood, then i whole-heartedly agree....

  • that's exactly what im saying :P

  • Seems like one hell of a nice dude! :)

  • Lol :)

  • Jay may sing very well still but, that pretty lady on the end has the best voice I have ever heard, this side of Roy Orbison..........grtsuntan

  • High Jewish humor. Almost no one will get this! Bless ya.

  • b/c we are not born with this knowledge.

  • can some one tell who were the tokens??

  • They are a doowop group from the late 50's/early 60's. Most well known recording is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

  • thank u

  • The TOkens rock

  • very interesting. give you a A+

  • He is a legend..must be well into his 60s..he can stand in front of a home movie camera..and get into his falsetto..effortlessly..He is a class act

  • Unfortuantely, Dr. Seigel passed away last year:(

  • I think you have him confused with the original member who passed away

  • Hank Medress passed away this year due to lung cancer.

  • How sad. I went to high school with Hank, Neil Sedaka, Eddie, Jay and the whole gang from Bay one and Mrs. Eisen's Lincoln High School Chorus. Hand was a funny guy. Nay his soul rest in peace.
