  • Yeah ,...this song completely rocks !!

  • Bev Bivens was only 19 years old when this recording was released in 1965. One of the 4 guys is Michael Stewart who was the younger brother of folk singer (Kingston Trio and author of the Monkees' hit "Day Dream Believer") John Stewart. Mike Stewart passed away at age 57, in 2002. There were a number of rumors, passed along on an internet blog, that he actually committed suicide.

  • She looks like my mom.

  • she looks a bit like Linda Rhondstadt

  • Always loved that beautiful harmony!

  • Yeah, that's a lipsync for sure. Great to see this though.

Geez could they have crammed one more person on that little stage?

  • Yeah, that's a lipsync for sure. Great to see this though.

  • This song brings back a lot of memories. I noticed no guitar cords or microphones and Bev closes her lips a little too soon to carry a few of those 'whoa-wo's' so I guess this was lip sinced. They're fun to watch. . . great energy; great number.

  • First time I've seen this-good stuff. They got troubles but looking so happy :)

  • Love this song always have always will. Just a sumplier time I suppose

  • Hey you know those songs you get in your head and you CAN'T get them outta there? Well this one has been there at least 30 times

  • What a great song. I never knew what the band members looked like. Thanks to the internet and sites like youtube.com we can all see them now after all these years. What a deal -- all this super video now coming out of the closet and now for everyone in the whole world to see and enjoy. What a beautiful young woman. THIS IS MY GENERATION.

  • You're a Doll for posting this.

    Thank you.

  • The hairstyle on the female member of the band predated Dorothy Hamill's (the mid-1970's figure-skating champion) by about a decade.

Maybe Hamill had the We Five record in her collection, remembered the female member's hairdo, and adopted it for the 1976 Winter Olympics.

  • I asked before; I'll ask again. Did we really dance like that?

  • OH MAN what memories both good and bad. How a young guy can be so stupid is beyond me. Lost my first love when this was on top of list.

  • This was the very first concert that I went to in 1967 with Karen Gange..Wow what a memory I have. We went to Metropolitan Jr. College in MPLS. Hi Karen..

  • Saw 'em in the 60's in a Dick Clark Caravan of Stars concert and they were Great!!

  • This song was on my mind.... thinking about Maureen in 1964. Oh, well.

  • This was on "Shindig" if I recall. She was a really mod and groovy chick.

  • GREAT video! Lead singer Beverly Bivens was a doll way back when.

  • yux

  • I must have listened to this song a million times, wondering what this girl looked like. Her voice stayed with you throughout the school day. Thanks for the lift!

  • I remember tuning this in on my 9 volt AM Transistor Radio as a kid. (WIXY 1260 Cleveland) . I always liked this song but I realize now that "it needs more cowbell". lol

  • Dang, been searching for this for ages...lm really glad l found!! thank u so muxh for posting this pearl...how l wished to lived this era...so cool, those were the days!! And btw...she's HOT>.....;))

  • one of the very best one-hit wonders. The Acoustic guitar was an incredible force here. And the girl was HOT. holy shit.

  • I'd forgotten about this Classic song of my college era! I spose this IS the original hit. This group got really creative toward the end of the song, it wasn't just a formula song, as many were back then.!

  • Such an awesome song !! simply a classic !!

  • I really like this tune from around my birth and infancy in 1965. A year that I don't think any of us will soon forget...Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Mass.

  • The guy wearing glasses looks just like my 8th grade science teacher.

  • @centoguzzi - It was nerdy, but it was part of the mid-60's formula for success. Peter & Gordon, Chad & Jeremy, Herman's Hermits, Freddie & The Dreamers, Manfred Mann, We Five, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Byrds , and, of course, Roy Orbison all had at least one artist in glasses. John Lennon even gave up his contacts for wire rims in 1967 with "Sgt. Pepper's". Perhaps this trend was started by Buddy Holly in the late '50s.

  • Buddy made glasses cool,The big O and Lennon were almost blind without the specs.

  • when I was little everybody had to tell me it wasn't Cher singing

  • I never knew that a woman sang this lead either. I think she may have inspired Linda Ronstadt's early look. What are the chances of having both a Bev Bivens and a Bev Bevan (E.L.O.) ?

  • Awesome!!! One of my favorites from way back when!!

  • The Theme Song of the I.R.S.

  • After all these years I never realized the lead singer was a woman. She was ahead of her time.

  • great group of the sixties . very surprising they did not go farther than they did.

  • Lip sync TV crap. Love the song though, and I'd watch Bev if she just stood there and smiled.

  • Bev Bivens was only 19 when this song was recorded. It's a shame that Bev didn't stick around longer ~ she could have been a continuing force in popular music. Here's to Bev and a long long life.

  • Such lovely harmonies, nimble but not ostentatious finger-work & musicianship, simple but professional staging & lighting...One of the lessons from these old videos is that great basic talent (incl voice/instrumental skill/song-writing) makes a much more lasting and impressive presentation than spending lots of money on flashy video creations/shows that substitute glitter, volume, and p.r. hype for true talent & skill.

  • There was a look to Bev, and a joy in her simple dance movements, that makes this video and the memory of Bev just a little extra special.

  • kinda surpised that no one mentioned that this was an Ian Tyson song (of Ian & sylvia)

  • Close... it's a Sylvia (Fricker) Tyson song.

  • You just gotta love that sweater

  • Hell yeah. And don't you know that I'd love to run my hands under it! (45 years ago anyway!)

  • @rbeck820 .....Velour sweaters were the big thing that year. Looked so good!

  • @rbeck820 Velour sweaters were the thing that year. They sure looked good. I know I gave my girl one for Christmas.

  • @rbeck820

    Yes, Very Active.

  • @rbeck820 velour a- go go

  • im 52 and still love all music, genre's but the late 60s and early 70s were the bst of music

  • Sometimes I forget how beautiful some of the music from back then was.

  • Nisvan, i couldnt have said it any better!! yes, this song is truely a gem, one of my all time favorites!

  • Have to say, one of the great pop hits of all time; underrated, underplayed, and underappreciated... but a gem.

  • @nisvan Totally agree

  • I don't remember this version but it's pretty good. Thanks for posting, BenK!

    Annie :)

  • I remember this getting massive airplay when I was nine years old...it's one of the early folk rock hits. I love their follow up song "You Let a Love Burn Out"!

  • Bev Bivens was a real beauty as well as a great singer!

  • She was (is) very HOT!

  • AWSOME!
