It is NOT illegal. It is one trigger pull per round expelled. Doesn't matter whether or not it is a device assisting in the pull of the trigger. It is still ONE trigger pull per round and there-in not classified as automatic.

They deemed the Aktins Accelorater stock a machine gun because it had a spring in it assisting in bump fire and also banned a 14 inch shoe string tied to an M1A as a machine gun because it assisted in bump fireing.

You can interchange parts. When the trigger is pressed and held and 1 bullet comes out then it's semi-automatic and not a machine gun no matter how easy the follow up shot is. If you can't fire 2 or more rounds with one squeeze of the trigger then it's legal.
