Multinationals mining companies taking everything with the complicity of Governments the world over...
Greed is destroying our world and the 99pc of us too. Billions of dollars being made by ruining our countries..stripping our forests, trampling our wild places, polluting our water our food..take back our social licence..we are allowing this to happen and only WE can change it!!!!!!!
WOW!!...I'm without words!!...well, almost!!...show the world what togetherness and peace can do!!...want some change in this world?...some real change in this world?...look at these guys go!...stay united, stay peacefull and let nothing stop you!!...now try this, organize mass meditation events!!...imagine 100,000 people walking in complete silence!!...silence fear, silence hate, silence war!!...
This is beautiful and accurately captures the feelings of love, conversation and community that several thousands (including myself) experienced that day. I made a video of the General Strike with a similar theme that I would love for everybody to watch and share with their friends and family! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! You can find the video on my YouTube channel titled #OccupyOakland General STRIKE!
wonderful, thank you so much for getting this up so quickly! we were filming too but on 16mm it's going to take us a while to put it together. the world needs to see the love that is happening here!
whoever put this together did a great job. they knew what they were doing in terms of editing and music, they really captured the spirit of this movement.
wtf is happening right now? i dont pay attention to the news im still in highschool. all im seeing is thousands of people running a fucking riot around everywhere? wth is up, this isnt civilized at all, i know the government is cheating hard and what not but really? wtf
You need to read up my young grasshopper, its not a riot if you count the Anarchists who ruined the PEACEful PROTEST. They are probably working for the government too
@065230393b There were no riots, did you not watch the video above or something??? the people who TRYED to start a riot were Agent Provocateurs, hired by police to try to get the people to riot. it didnt work as you can tell. The entire event was soo peaceful, dont let the mainstream media shift your view of the movement youngling
Everyone I know is saying they want Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich to run as independents on a ticket together ....they could be our unity dream team......We =
the 99% could all get behind them .......forget about the Republicans we all know neither them or the Democrats are going to do the right thing. It takes free thinking people like Ron and Dennis..... we want you two to be our Dream team......think about it.....
@AngeliteCenter Ron Paul is a Washington insider and part of the problem. He's a Austrian school economists nut that advocates stupid stuff like putting us on the gold standard. He's got fooled. He's a Republican to the bone which is why he's running as a Republican. He's been in Congress since 1976: 36 years. What amazes me is how easy you are to convince that the key to solving the inequality and the huge gap between the 1% and 99% is to vote for a Washington insider. We can do better.
@StockTradingMaster To be honest, I can't get behind Kucinich either. Too bad this couldn't have been Nader's cycle. I might have been willing to go along with a Paul-Nader ticket (albeit a bit uneasily) as I've seen more evidence of the latter's steeliness.
Thank you so much for putting this together. I have shared it many times. THIS is the story. Love to Oakland & all the people that came out on Wednesday. THIS WAS how it was for most of us. Again, thank you.
Unfortunately it only takes one headline involving "wanton destruction" to turn opinion against a movement. In this case, the destruction came from anarchists, not the Occupy people.
@joelcov The whole movement is anarchist by its very nature. Anarchy is not the problem. The problem is individuals who feel that the only way to bring attention to the movement, or to have their voices heard is through violence and destruction. These are the actions of nihilists and riled youth who simply don't fully understand the repercussions of their actions, not anarchists.
@Mandolinpossum You say "The problem is individuals who feel that the only way to bring attention to the movement, or to have their voices heard is through violence and destruction" .... Honestly, I don't like to provoke destruction and such, but that is ALL I see about the movement... so in this case... sadly...it really IS the best way to get your voice heard. I never seen any of this other peaceful stuff...
@m4ntxs If all you see out of this movement is violence and destruction, then quite frankly you have not been looking at all. During the general strike, between 40-and 100,000 people showed up to protest in San Francisco and Oakland. Of those, it was only estimated that around a hundred or so were consciously and intentionally causing wanton destruction.
Violence among the protesters has been strongly discouraged by a vast majority of the group since day one.
@m4ntxs If you want to see the peaceful stuff, then I recommend the next time you catch wind of a notable protest, or any wind of police action with one of the groups (that's usually when people start filming the most), then find a ustream, or livestream channel. More often than not, the only actual aggression you'll see in them is either second hand accounts, or on the part of the police.
@benreilly5467 LMAO the dock workers got to go home with PAY, plus they supported the 99%. I was there, you were not. Quit watching the mainstream media bud! they give you the wrong idea of the movement.
@mattdogggg Hey shithead, who said I wasn't there? And there were a HELL of a lot of dock workers there shouting at pricks like you who wouldn't let them leave. And NO, they didn't get paid. Angela Davis even idotically said they should demand their unions pay their wages, which is no guarantee it will happen. Nice try, stupid fuck, but you're not talking to someone in Nebraska. I live here, love Oakland, and don't shit in public like your camping friends, asshole.
@benreilly5467 Ok well thanks for proving you WEREN'T there! The workers DID get paid, your high on crack if you believe that. Like i said, i was there, no one complained about anything, it was very supportive and historic. Stop hating and join us, you'll be here soon enough anyway :P
@mattdogggg Hey moron, you think because you talked to ONE person through a fence or conferred with another protestor that you know if ALL the people you helped fuck over got paid? No. You don't. And they didn't. And "no one complained"? You're a piece of shit liar. What, you were deaf to the people shouting they wanted to be let out? Truck drivers yelling go home? You're trash who twists the truth to suit your needs.
@mattdogggg The Occupy movement is important, but it doesn't give you the right to fuck over whoever you want, animal. Anarchists like you only serve to undermine the movement. Prick..
All of you teachers, unemployed college grads, and Summer of Love hangers on just so you know, ILA members can earn as much as six figures. The only problem is that those with the most seniority get the most work, so younger workers are SOL. If there is anyone who has a zero sum approach to employment opportunities it's the ILA.
nice piece guys. See you J20.
