Debt is the problem? BUt debt has given us almost all the growth over the last few years. Almost all the money in circulation (97%) is entirely virtual - it exists only on computers as binary code and has no actual value at all. All economic growth in the 'free market' western world has been created by banks lending money - money they don't have, and which is created literally by typing numbers into a computer. Until our leaders face up to this one, the crisis will not go away.

He will talk about "investment" and increase the tax rate on the rich..."investment" is another word for more increased spending. You try spending money you haven't got. I don't see what's so hard about this! I lost my job two years ago. I couldn't find another and can't sign up for benefits, so I tried something else. Making a living the best way I can and cutting spending (drastically). After two years I decided I don't want another job. My wife and I don't buy soft drinks, most bought food, new clothes, vacations and a host of other things, but we are totally satisfied. Why can't the government cut $s? @sapjaw Well a default means that u cannot pay the interest payments on money that was loaned to u. (i.e. paying the bondholders). The U.S. has about $20 billion or so in interest payments due in August and the U.S. Treasury is expecting $180 billion in revenue. If the Treasury prioritizes its payments and pays the interest first, we won't default. The Treasury can by more time by prioritizing its payments. Thats why conservatives have been saying that the Aug. 2nd deadline is BS.

Once, they had the largest number of Millionaires, then, they decided to put a millionaire tax in place, which caused them to lose both residents, and tax revenue. There's always a point where if you keep taxing, they will leave. However, why is it that they should be taxed extra for being successful? American people understand that the wealthiest people in this country are becoming wealthier while their effective tax rates in recent years have declined to the lowest level in history. They know that large multi-national corporations and Wall Street firms are earning billions in profits in some cases, paying nothing in taxes. @sapjaw Well a default means that u cannot pay the interest payments on money that was loaned to u. (i.e. paying the bondholders). The U.S. has about $20 billion or so in interest payments due in August and the U.S. Treasury is expecting $180 billion in revenue. If the Treasury prioritizes its payments and pays the interest first, we won't default. The Treasury can by more time by prioritizing its payments. Thats why conservatives have been saying that the Aug. 2nd deadline is BS.

Entitlements make up nearly 60% of the federal budget ($2 trillion total). The govt will ONLY take in about $2.2 trillion in revenues this year! They HAVE to be on the table. The "rich" can't even afford this. If we took all of the money from all the fortune 500 companies that would only raise $391 billion. Thats not even enough to cover Medicare!

This is about bringing down the federal government and go back to states rights. Where is the patriotism in American companies keeping that cash out of circulation. Once, they had the largest number of Millionaires, then, they decided to put a millionaire tax in place, which caused them to lose both residents, and tax revenue. There's always a point where if you keep taxing, they will leave. However, why is it that they should be taxed extra for being successful? Most earned it, with a few exceptions, and even people like Paris Hilton are building up businesses for themselves.

these job craters are created by the public spending. if services to the middle class are cut off course they will struggle with spending money, then many people cut their movie budget, going to restaurants etc in 2001 they got the 3% tax cut but eight years later they were worse off closing a lot of businesses. this economics 101 but politics 501 if you pay atention.

I would have more respect for him if he would look straight at the camera and say " we are going to cut social security and medicare on the elderly". SS & medicare are fully funded programs and ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEBT! We've spent our budget on bank bailouts, wars, poorly timed tax breaks to the wealthiest in this country, coupled with a deep recession. Even with Obama moving very far to the right, and cutting into fully funded programs, the gop still won't budge.
They are definately at fault. Even Ronald Reagan raised the debt limit and raised taxes several times. The so called fair and balanced network won't cover the truth.

The no brainer is if you try 2 ONLY cut spending your objective will never be achieved. Even if you took out ALL non-defense discretionary spending, you would still have over a trillion left to tackle. Trying to balance the budget w/o revenue being brought N2 the picture would cut the floor right out of the economy. From infrastructure to drinking water.
