I still wonder who composed the music, that is totally different from the original PC game (composed by Trent Reznor / NIN (AMAZING dark ambient OST !BTW and maybe one of their three best album) .. this version is much more ambient , cool music menu (cheap but awesome, very 90's like)
it's amazing how far we came in gaming. i remember when i thought ocarina of time was the greatest game ever in terms of graphics, but now we play games like gears and god of war 3 and twilight princess, and it's just remarkable how far gaming has gotten over the years, and it's hard to think where they'll take it in the years to come
N64 games don't load, they BUILD! I already had the PC version but hired this one out for the heck of it, my comp back then didn't support OpengGL, but I still reckon this one has way better lighting effects
@cAc3d Haha well Quake 1 on PC has so many different engines now that blow this one away.
But if we are talking about this VS GLQuake, this one has slightly better lighting effects. Though this game also has a filter option which sorta smooths everything out :). In my opinion the best third party engine for Quake 1 on the PC is Dark Places.
@InsideOutGamer your name is "insideoutgamer", so I would assume you are a gamer. Yet, your lack of knowledge about quake is inconsistent with your name... Go Change your name into "notagamer" or something like that. DOn't shame us gamers with your ignorance.
@InsideOutGamer Nope, I've been gaming since Atari 2600. At least it hasn't destroyed my Vocabulary. (Professional is spelled with double s, not double f). And there was an article in "archives or surgery" that Surgeons, who played video games, are more skillful at operating laparoscopic tools used in modern Surgeries vs those who don't game. SOurce? google it. (google this: surgeon gaming laparoscopy). Lap tools are modern surgeries tools that requires small incisions only.
@InsideOutGamer and this game, came out during the transition of 80486 PC cpu to Pentium classic cpu. we are taling about pentium 120Mhz and below. I am surprised you didn't know this.
Interestingly, the version of n64 and it has some outstanding and unique sounds, such as the music menu, I remember that I was too scared to play this game when I was a child especially afraid of bumping into a monster Shambler.
smooth but blurry. too bad about the small texture cache.

Yeah but not as dark as doom 3 XD
DarkShadowRage2 3 years ago
doom 64 was the best doom game, doom 3 was to alien like, where as doom 64 was alot more demonic
timsni8080 2 years ago
true, very true. But Doom 3 has a lot of satanic imagery towards the end with the final boss.
wickedblackcamaro 2 years ago
if you liked quake 64, you should try quake as it was meant to be played on the pc. Its on steam now for only a few dollars, a really fun game.
