I have always bee a huge fan of Peanuts. This was the saddest news that I had ever heard in my life. Part of me died that day. It was a real loss of a more innocent time. You're a good man Charles Schulz. We'll never forget you.
Wow! 11 years since Sparky died. I still remember hearing about it the day the final Sunday strip was printed. It's a cruel twist of fate that the man who gave us oldsters lots of laughs growing up passed on the day his strip "belongs to the ages. RIP, Charles M. "Sparky" Schultz.
i <3 him i did a report on him an i loved him i have two snoopy shirts and a snoopy stuffed animal why did he die he was the greatest cartoonist ever in history!!!!!!!!!!! Peanuts or as he called it little folks is the best ever!!!!!!!!

While I was saddened by Charles Schulz's passing, I was disappointed that when he retired the comic, that no one else would be continue writing Peanuts comics. I would've thought someone in the family would've written some new Peanuts material. Oh well. I love reading Peanuts Classic comics.
I was 26 when Schulz passed. Prior to that I had wondered whether my tear ducts actually worked, because I couldn't remember ever crying. That day, I found out that my tear ducts did indeed work.
Charles Schulz is my hero too that wonderful creator of the peanuts gang i would have really liked to meet him in real life because i love the peanuts gang and i always will.
i was only 5 when he died i was in love with snoopy he was my favorite peanut i had already read every single peanuts strip and every special, and show i cried more the night he died more than i cried the day my great grandma died poor ol shulz he was probably the best cartoonist who ever lived and i will never forget him
I was only nine when Charles Schulz died, but I still remember the impact it had even though I wasn't into Peanuts at the time. I was in St. Paul (where Schulz wsas born) around that time and I still remember all the Charlie Brown statues they had scattered about the place.
back before 9/11, when we were actually brought news and not celebrity icons going to rehab just to keep our minds off what is really going on in the world
@jennadanae88 I agree based on that it's seems ever since post 9/11 there has been paranoia, more garbage on T.V especially focusing more on celebrities i.e Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Jon&kate etc..
I love him. Snoopy was the first character I ever draw! ^_^ He is my idol. I wrote to him once before he did. We miss you Charles! Ya look like my Grandpa 80% true. Love you. Peanuts forever. I use to collect the comics in the papers.
After seeing this I felt like crying again. Snoopy was my childhood hero and Schulz brought that beagle to life along with several others that I will never forget. And along with bringing the Peanuts gang to life he in retrospect gave me a new life. R.I.P.
First thank you for posting this on.i read his books so much that i had to read them more than 2 times and more.i read his books watched his shows read peanuts in the newspaper.i started reading about the peanuts in 3rd grade i read ALOT of his books.Charles M Schulz gave me a reason to like going to like reading a little more. When i realzed he died i felt real bad about myself for not knowing that the GREAT comic creater died.
It was my dream as an 11 year old to meet Charles Schulz. My dream was broken on Feb 13, 2000. I found out on the 15th, Australian time. It felt as though I had to leave childhood behind at that point.
One of the most REAL cartoons ever penned. Peanuts probably helped many kids with their problems. Please see my video of a beautifully painted Woodstock sculpture from Peanuts.
i remember the day i heard Charles Schulz had died. i told the person who told me to stop lying because at that moment, i really wished he was. when i saw it in the paper, i held it together because i was in school but i was way, way down about it for months afterward. most of my childhood was spent reading Peanuts, wishing that red-haired girl would give Charlie Brown a big hug and that Lucy would let him kick that ball, just once.
I went through a very difficult time a few years ago and found myself re-reading all of my peanut's books. They were so comforting and brought back memories of childhood innocence. God bless you Sparky!
And this was on my birthday! I adored Charles Shultz. Peanuts and Garfield are my favorite comic strips. It still amazes me how he timed things just right. I'll love him always.
I went to see YAGMCB two days before he passed away. I remember they were showing a marathon of his cartoon films the night before. He was a hero of mine and my favorite cartoon.
What an amazing man. I recently visited the Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa and it was incredible. It's a shame that many young folks today aren't familiar with Peanuts.
