Actually, the the guitarist and bassist (Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler) were the leaders. They wrote almost everything. Ozzy, honestly, contributed almost nothing except for a very few handful of lyrics. And Sabbath really never broke up. Sabbath kept moving on with differents singers between 1980-1995, and then Ozzy finally rejoined in 1997 - 2005. They got their first replacement singer back in 2006 (Dio) and made a record under the "Heaven and Hell" name.
