  • The SD80 is big and beautiful and sounds great!! Just magnificent. There needed to be a lot more of these made. They were a victim of the way they were used and not because they weren't/aren't great locomotives. You can see, even accounting for distance that the SD80MAC was a much bigger locomotive than the GE unit it was trailing.

  • I gotta say at least CSX kept the marker lights in, Lord knows, it looks horrible in its CSX scheme, Conrail Quality/Conrail Blue is the color that it belongs and should have stayed in.

    Big Blue forever!

  • Wow. Loved this vid. The SD80MAC'S are the bomb!! Wish there were a lot more of them out on the road!!

  • wait if conrail had 28 80macs than how did ns get17 and csx get 13 when both numbers equal 30 two more than 28 or did you mean 30 not 28

  • Appreciate the steady camera work in your vids.

    The audio is superb!

  • Nice chase!

  • The 1994 Alabama Tandem (bicycle) weekend covered this road. We raced the train at considerably slower speeds, but kept with it as it accelerated for quite a ways.

Is the lot full of 1956 Studebaker Hawks still on the left?

  • @5610winston

No more, just open feilds with cows.

  • Oops, sorry: thinking back, I believe it was the 1993 Alabama tandem weekend.

  • A plus Greg! Great chase and love the sound of that big ole emd.

  • Gentily is the CSX yard in New Orleans though this train *usually* is a runthrough from UP and UP turns it over to CSX at East Bridge which is a big junction on the New Orleans Public Belt shortline. Not bad 103 cars, interesting large block of empty coal hoppers.

  • i love train chases, but have't gone out and done any yet,at leased intill i get my car fixed lol

  • The 80MAC's look a lot like the 9043MAC's, nice catch.

  • Look like traffic was a little kinder to you this time!

I really think your son is going to be like you if you keep bringing him on these chases..

Ten years down the road I'll be seeing his videos and saying to myself:

Yeah.. I remember when his dad took him out on chases of trains in his videos.

Keep being an awesome dad ok?

  • All I can do is my best and so far it seems to be working.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope to be watching his videos later on in life as well.

  • Did you get a heads up on this? If so, where did you get it from? An SD80AC? I missed that too! Why am I not suprised lol. This train runs from New Orleans, not Oreland. Nice!

  • I think Oreland is the CSX Yard in New Oreleans.

  • No heads up on this one. I got off wlrk and was littening to the scanner on the way to daycare when I heard the EC1 go out. It was just chance that I caught it.

As for the originating location, it was a big fat typo here. It's New Orelans.
