This guy reminds me so much of TE's sound, style and even his gear is almost identical. Of course Tommy's the master so he's ideal to emulate, but no one can out do TE at being TE. Actually, I doubt anyone can out do Tommy full stop.

Gareth is a completely awesome player. Wow, the jealousy is so thick around here you can smell it. Come on guitar players: admit it. You'd much rather hear Gareth's versions than many of the originals! True, Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins were creators, poineers, but Gareth is bringing these old tunes to new heights. Admit it. OK, if you can't, then post your own stuff.

Garreth is absolutely awesome player. If he never writes a note, he plays with more feeling and better technically than many pickers Ive heard in my lifetime. True, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed were innovators, but Garreth puts a magic into these tunes that they would both be really proud of. I smell a WHOLE lot of jealousy floating around here!!!!

As Tommy once said "If there's no groove then the body can't move". Only a COMPLETE idiot would criticize the guy for getting into the groove. Go get a life. Nobody will ever be as good as Chet, Tommy, Jerry and Doyle. They will stand the test of time, but this kid is very close.

Well said, completely agree. Personally i'd prefer to see Gareth's stuff over Chet and Jerry, i just love Gareth's style, he is a great performer. How is he in anyway contrived? He just loves playing his music, and i would too if i could play like him, EddieEstes is definitely jealous, along with myself!

1 Make sure you guitar is in tune before recording.

2 Ease up on the playing it sounds like you are fighting the guitar.

Well Done Gareth...To wit, This was originally done on a Kirk Sand nylon...I heard Tommy play it a few years back in the US. Of course Kirk Sand, is still building guitars and has for years. He built one years ago for Lenny Breau that was 7 strings. Anyway ...I think its tremendous that you have accomplished so much. Cheers from Calgary Canada Dave W
