1of my fev blues song that Otis Rush composed & played.Almost every Blues giant like >Clapton,Stevie Ray covered this tune.Love this version of R Cray.
A classic version of the Otis Rush remarkable creation. I used to listen to it on Vanguard's "Chicago, the Blues Today". Clapton did it justice with John Mayal.
Made in the USA and called Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show hosted by Jools Holland and David Sanborn which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists.
great funked up version of an Otis Rush classic! luv that groove that Marcus is layin' down.Marcus has a great love and respect for the Blues. when i saw him live he called every song a Blues, even a Beethoven song! cool vid, thx kbelna.
Everyone of the band members you see and here are great in their own right.
A good lesson to musos everywhere in laying it down, no egos, work as a unit and make front man the best he can be. That is what music should be about.
This is on a show that David Sanborn co-hosted. Ford, MIller, and Sanborn were in the house band. There are some great recordings of Jeff Healey on this show.
Cray is a future god: B.B. king is living as the main man now, then goes Buddy Guy, and Cray is already there, but being a gentlemen and complementing everyone. He will shine as the king one day. But take E.C: I love what he does, he makes more music that more people can be interested in (all types, including much more than blues) I do believe though that he is only a disciple. You can blame Jimi for that one, that guy is the holy ghost.
Unbelievable vocalist and probably the only Blues guitarist who goes straight to amp. Robert Cray is like the contemporary Magic Sam. Thank you kbena for this marvelous clip.
Wow!!! Very sweet guitar sound... and very grat team: Marcus Miller on bass, Robben Ford on the guitar, probally Joe Sample on Keys and David Sanborn at Sax... just amazing!
For the record, Night Music was a cool tv show from the 80s hosted by David Sanborn. So the band backing Cray here is not who he usually plays with. It's basically Dave's old group which was usually Marcus Miller on bass, Hiram Bullock on guitar, Steve Gadd percussion, and I think Omar Hakim on drums.
Cary is like all the other American greats who could sing and play for real. The new artists in pop could have trouble trying to stay an evening in this group. They play from soul to just plain great technique
This is a fantastic song,heard many a versions,love this one,ENCLUDING the original done by Otis himself.I tried my hand at it a couple times,even put up a lil vid(tell me what you think?)I love otis rush,robert cray,stevie ray,hendrix,buddy guy,muddy waters,albert king,b.b.king,albert colins,freddie king,bob magolin,robben ford,johnny winters,eric clapton,debbie davies,Micheal burks,susan tedeschi,tab benoit,kenny neal,magic sam,magic slim,Johnny copeland and the list goes on.
Yes...Stevie Ray does an awesome version of this song. I just wanted to mention that this song was written by the great Otis Rush. You should check him out!! Jimi...Stevie Ray...& countless others did. (BTW, thanks for posting!!)
