I fell in love with this song when it came out back in the day. This song really touches my heart because I can really relate to it. I've lost my father, sister and brother, all within a few years of each other. When you grieve for the loss of a loved one, that kind of pain never really goes away. One of the positive messages of this song is to appreciate the people you love as much as you can while you have them in your life. No one is promised tomorrow.
I was introduced to Tupac in 2007 by one of my homies (we were 12 years old), and ever since then i have been exploring and researching and discovering old school hiphop (70's-80's-90's) I am now 16 (almost 17) and i am fed up with the bs so called "rap" music of the present day. Im old school and proud. Old school hiphop makes me think of the world around me in more abstract ways and really gets me thinking about things.
I'm tired of all these young cats saying "I'm 12 and I hear this music and no one else that lives near to me hears this kind of hype" some bullshit like this I'm 14 and been hearing this kind of music for years and I don't post some lame comments. It's not about age it's about style, taste for good music and personality.
@Chooify I feel you but dude sometimes i get so disappointed with good hiphop getting lost over bs in the young crowd that its a breath of fresh air to see younger folks checking in. gives me hope lol, but I get you.
I am a 15 year old kid who is glad he didn't fall into the typical hip hop of 2011. I believe I am wiser from listening to music such as intelligent hoodlum. Like this comment if you believe that true hip hop doesn't consist of ignorant stories about being a "pimp", but consists of true stories, struggle, and life.
@6JACOB6MARTINEZ6 Like SkateGraffHipHop said, you shouldn't call the new days shit as the hip hop of 2011.There's no music anymore. All is about money and reputation. And yes,I am 15 years old,too and I am glad I listen to all these old school melodies and I don't give a damn if all my classmates don't listen to them.I really don't give a damn...cause I know that there are 15 years old homiez out there who listen to what i listen just like you and i am glad ;)
@6JACOB6MARTINEZ6 Nothing wrong about rapping about pimping if thats what you do. Suga Free one of my favorite rappers and in my opinion way more talented than Intelligent Hoodlum. But this is definitely that real shit and im glad you found it...
I was about 14, 15 when this came out. It was on the 1st VIBE magazine mix cd and by far the best song on the cd. I played this track everyday walking through the neighborhood. Even dubbed it onto a tape to play in my Sony Walkman (youngins today don't even know about the yellow & black walkman with the locking tape door). When my loved ones passed over the years I came to truly understand the beauty of this song. One love to Tragedy.
wen iz someone gonna make something just a third as gud as dis 2day, yeah we got the roots, madlib, black milk & a few others but its hardly the 90's lol
Damn this song almost bring tears to a nigga eyes!!! A nigga was like 11 or 12 when this shit came out. This was the real Tragedy, the Intelligent Hoodlum. Played this song after a few of the homies passed

@sacaleche2 This is the best comment I seen in a longtime, power is people if you want hip hop to come back then lets get together and do something about it. Word to motha.
Hip Hop Revolution will not be televised, The Revolution will be ripped from the very foundation if the fake shit that is piling on top of it. Could if be that some main stream artist like Lil Wayne (who happens to have a million underground tracks that need to literally stay underground, cause their garbage) but could it be that some mainstream artist like Lil Wayne MaKe TRaCks to mAKe MoNEy?? as heartless, thoughtless, hip-hop-less, hopeless, creative-less as it is, it's still a business. And if it don't make cents, it don't make sense! So, let's keep it real and let them make REAL money

@GOODTHYME11 - I'm really feeling this song. I missed it when it dropped (I'm not from NYC, so that happens a lot unfortunately ;) I meant to ask -- is the last verse a tribute to his grand mother ("grand groove")?
Straight up classic! Remember Vj Madeline Woods on BET presenting jams like this for real. Would love to know what happened to the lovely Madeline Woods? She was hott!
the reason we are blesses with the likes of lil' wayne and solja boi, is becasue young black youth these days are welfare faggots. Back in the day you had to survive, everything was real, today instead of these young n*ggas hitting the streets at 18 and being men, they stay at home w/ their section-8 mammy and fear suriving on their own - thus their music now is E-motional... whiny ass lil 'wayne bullshit , I would whine too if I was born like lil wayne and skuurd to surivie on my own. punk sht
I agree 100%. Back in the day you groups like Public Enemy getting kats to stand up on their own. You are 100% all Lil Wayne does whine and b.itch about stuff. Your right these young dudes dont even want to do anything on thier own. Nothing can convince them that they need to do something for themselves. Emotions are cool but you need to use them to propel yourself forward.
lol Listen to Half Way Thugs Pt2, someone's posted it on here and you'll understand where I'm coming from. Nore claims amongst other things that he ghost wrote most of Trag's best lyrics.
A classic, underrated joint that never received the airplay and acclaim it deserved.
It took years for me to track this down and get the album. Perfect production and sampling by K-Def of Patrice Rushen. Tragedy's lyrics are mindblowing, I wonder if they're what Nore claimed he ghost wrote for him lol...
Real rap music and mc'ing on display, makes me wish for the days when you could turn on the radio & such quality would be a regular occurrence.
Your "game" has grown old son. Funny, for someone who doesn't like golden age hip hop, you know all the tracks, and call it "real"? It aint been funny in a while...really, it never was.

Is there anyone doing stuff like this today?

Your "game" has grown old son. Funny, for someone who doesn't like golden age hip hop, you know all the tracks, and call it "real"? It aint been funny in a while...really, it never was.
