@tjmady Explosives would have caused shrapnel and debris to fall on top of other occupied or otherwise used buildings, and the city and/or the demolition company didn't want liability for damage. Controlled demolitions are only used in situations where surrounding buildings and cars are more sparse. Pinpointing the important "weak points" in the steel frame of the structure can take months and is very costly and labor intensive.

The building at 1230 N. Burling (facing Halsted) has now been evacuated and closed. This was the final occupied building with in the major Cabrini-Green complex.

The white one at 1230 N. Larabee is now being torn down, and the last two reds are being prepped for demolition next.

His homey was killed ans as the funeral procession drove past his complex...someone threw a TOILET from the roof and tried to hit the funeral as it went by.
