The sex registry is a joke. Only a small percent of registered offenders are deemed dangerous by the judicial system. A huge bulk of them are consensual,statutory cases , even 19 year olds with 16 year olds. Its all overblown,media hysteria. The problem is that many sex offenders have committed non-violent crimes NOT involving molestation or rape at all! If you'd like proof of this, simply check any registry. The government overpunishes those who have committed the slightest sex crimes. You can be an SO for simply urinating in public or making one harassing phone call! There needs to be a distinction between violent and non-violent offenders, so the law can spend their efforts focusing on truly dangerous people.
