@mrrogue72 - its a copy you stupid ass not the frikken original and it on cloth a fair heavy linen cloth, you want pictures give me your email and I will send you proof, I had it rolled up because I did not have place for it.
Accused of drugsabuse ? It was not tolerate to smoke opium back then in Holland ?
This painting is incredible, fuck, I went to Hertogenbosch 2 weeks ago and didn't know he was from there. Next time I'll go to Rotterdam, I will stop and visit this museum
..... and whilst these perhaps may not have been used 'recreationally' the first-hand vision or recounted tales of the other-worldly horrors could well have inspired such works of art .
@ericsyre - i think Portela63 is having a little tongue-in-cheek joke there, but you must agree that old Hieronymous had psychedelic vision beyond what the average punter can visualise - unless he or she has been exposed to some kind of hallucinatory chemicals. OK it was hundreds of years before LSD, the 2C's, etc . were invented - however north europeans would have been familiar at this time with psilocybin, ergotamine, muscarine , scopolamine, atropine -
@BadgerLaser lol there are a lot of shrooms around the city walls
I'm shure that he gained his inspiration there it was surrounded by swamp, forest and old fields with probably lot's of birds (still there are in preserved swamp)
@Portela63 They never smoked anything. But they had the buckler of 1500 years of orthodoxy on their side, and that, my friend, is not to be reckoned lightly.
The chosen sound track is a superb choice for this Bosch phantasmagoria. I enjoyed it a lot, but tend to agree also with the other comment in that the left triptych painting -'Paradise' - could be supported by a more ethereal, supernal sound, maybe medieval polyphony (perhaps Johannes Ockhegem or Thomas Tallis?)followed by the current soundtrack. But otherwise a mesmerising mix of image and music.
You should change the sounds, it´s totally out of context, maybe you can use it in hell but only in that case. The other scenes doesn´t work with that sounds, reflects diferent things.
Very, very interesting the pictures of this painter. I could see Garden of Earthly Delights in Museo del Prado and really as you say it make you think that Hieronymus Bosch was the first surrealist. Great video 5*, congratulations.

my favorite part of this would either be the man tree guy, the bird guy eating the sinners, or the ears wielding the knife

I got to see this at the Prado museum. It is so surreal. I wondered what they smoked back then.

@Portela63 I am a little let down you assume Bosch has to smoke any kind of drugs to come up with those ideas.
