They were gonna detain him, either they wrestle him to the ground and possibly injure an arm or leg or elbow or knee etc etc. Or they tase him straight up.
The most disturbing thing about this video is the guy you runs up & starts filming. I have seen people stop to film a dead body at a mall, a girl getting beat up, & so on. People are obsessed with filming life & not taking part. Its one thing to want to document. Its another to witness that & be excited to FILM! We are losing our humanity through technology. BTW I am writing a message in a box hoping people read it & respond. See what i mean?
Why the hell would they tear down a park? A park is a recreational area. It's a place to find peace and fresh air in a hectic and stressful city. They should make more parks. Not tear down existing ones. Recreational areas are vital to have a healthy city.
I come from a city in Sweden that has a lot of parks. Several big parks and many many small ones scattered throughout the city. Those parks are our pride. We love those parks. So much that we sometimes call our city "The City of The Parks".
@MelleB90 Oh, you can belive I am. I'm super lucky to be Scandinavian.
But I worry to no end about all the bad things that happen in America. What happens in America affects the whole world, whether the world likes it or not. America contantly tries to spread its own culture with war, Hollywood and fast food restaurants. America constantly screws its own people over. The rest if the world is next in line. That's why I worry for the American people.
If the crowd was a threat to the police, as I have seen people say for this instance and the one at UC Davis, why do the police not do something about the crowd and go for the non-violent individuals?
"Oh no that crowd is getting unruly, taze the person not in the crowd."
Tearing the signs down wasn't a good move by the guy, but that doesn't explain why the cops didn't tell him why he was being arrested.
@john7101 dude two chicks cannot arrest him and its like he was tearing down signs he shouldnt have been TOUCHED you dont get arrested for a disorderly conduct you get a sitation what arrest might you be speaking of that was lawful in this equation?
@McRelentless77 A miranda warning is only relevant when they want a conviction after the arrest. However, they should have told him that he was under arrest.
@grieske No sir if you taze annybody and besides the fact he was pursued by two females there should have been an immediate answering to why he was tazed and i know the systems fucked up but especially on tape like this idk im not a lawyer lol but if i was there would be no way my client got put in jail...especially concidering and was said that he didnt really do anything wrong in the first place no disrespect just argument
@McRelentless77 A miranda warning is a warning of the fact that any confession after that warning is considered to be given by your own volition. Without that warning, any confessions during a detention are not admissible as evidence. Torture (such as using a taser unnecessarily) is never allowed, so there are no rules for it.
@grieske ok well once tazed you have no more recolection of whats going on and can not be coherent enough to be mirandized therfor before they pulled the taser or the females even touched him there should have been a warning that extensive force were to be taken so no there is no rules to it besiides the fact that if he isnt mirandized and he does gt hurt or tazed in thus situation they can be sued and be suspended shit he actually could have the whole police center takin down
After Obama's reign people like him might be permanently detained without trial and never heard off again. If somebody starts to ask questions they might also find themselves in the same situation.
Those protester should get their own tasers and just go nuts. It should be obvious to all right now that the copsuckers are not there for the people anymore, but rather for a corporate fascist government. And when you reach that point, what other options are there other than a revolution? If Ron Paul doesnt win, things are only going to get worse... WAY worse.

And remember, when the police stay stop and u dont stop, then they try to physically stop you and u still dont stop - you probably will get tazed. Just a helpful warning to you! ;)
@Nomiss9 Well I dont disagree with that. I'm simply talking about this case. They dont the guy to stop, he didnt; then they tried to stop him physically, he wouldnt stop; so they tazed him. That is reason enough IMO.
@ViciousOneWon Why did he need to stop though? Why did they want to arrest him? They didn't say and just tazed him instead because they didn't have a valid reason. He shouldn't have stopped, because they had no reason to arrest him. They're scum.
@Nomiss9 Did u even watch this video?! LOL Cenk clearly stated that the guy was pulling down signs that the police put up. Thats illegal! Furthermore, Cenk even said that the signs were to inform the protesters that they would have leave. If Im at the protest, i'd like to know what the police are planning so I can prepare a response, but that moron kid is tearing down the signs so that I wont know anything! How stupid is that?!
@ViciousOneWon I know, but I think it's fucking ridiculous to arrest him for it, and it's beyond ridiculous to taze him like he's some fucking knife-wielding psychopath.
No, in this case, the police are still wrong for being violent scumbags, who just want to taze and arrest the dirty commies to show them who's boss!
@Nomiss9 BTW, I'm not against the kid protesting. But I just think he needed to be channeled in a direction that made more sense than pulling down signs that let protestors know what the cops are planning. If I was there, and saw the signs, I'd might try to plan a protest line when the cops are coming or try some form of non-violent protest. But this kid is tearing down the signs that would inform me the cops are coming. Not smart. Either way, I hope the cops let him go with no charges.
@ViciousOneWon I didnt hear them asking him to stop, but maybe thats just bad hearing? As far as I can see they are just converging on him like some kind of hyenas. They were obviously not interested in doing anything but hauling him off. And for what? Did he attack someone? Kill someone?
@ucancallmetheseeker Well, there u have it; ucancallmetheseeker didnt hear the cops say stop, so the cops probably just played eeny meeny mieny moe, landed on that poor guy, and started chasing him around the park - IN SILENCE! LMAO! Ur comment was HILARIOUS!
@ViciousOneWon Did you hear it? And you are clearly missing the point. Lets say you are jay-walking, a cop sees it and starts approaching you and you can tell he wants to put you in cuffs. You move away from him and BAM he freakin tases you. Is that the proper way to go about things?
@ucancallmetheseeker Dont mischaracterizing the situation. The guy didnt simply "move away" for a second . He tried to get away for the ENTIRE VIDEO! They needed at least 3 cops just to catch him.
Even in ur example the guy is doing something illegal. When u do something illegal the cops r allowed to stop and even arrest u. And if u resist - they can taze u! The guy should not have resisted. IMO he could have made the cops drag him to their car while yelling "I'll be back!" in protest!
Are you really this thickheaded? Are we watching the same video? The police should have handled this way differently. Also you need to research what common law is.
It is ILLEGAL to pull down signs the police put up. The police ordered the guy to stop; he didnt. The police tried to physcially stop him; he resisted. So the police tazed him and he complied!
Sure, the police could have chased him around all day and hoped that he'd tire out. But they didnt and that perfectly legal.
@ViciousOneWon The irony with some of these comments is that they criticized the Tea Party for using violent rhetoric but now they're doing the same thing.
@Nomiss9 Violent rhetoric by OWS sympathizers has been going on before cop confrontations. For instance there was a video of a few stock traders viewing the OWS from above (non-violent) and many people commented that they should bring the guillotines out. I am sympathetic to some of the OWS grievances but they need to rethink their strategy.
@csjbo1990 Hmm... Okay, but for some reason I have a hard time believing that the guillotine "threat" was serious. ;P
Can you imagine how the cops would react if the OWS people showed up with guns like the Tea Partiers did? They'd fucking shoot to kill and ask questions later.
I've seen clips like this a million times. Cops being wankers and arresting people who are screaming "what have I done wrong?" An interesting idea - if cops don't want to be considered inhumane pricks, perhaps they could respond to the people they are arresting and actually explain to them what the fuck it is they have done wrong?
@cyprokka The cops didnt do anything wrong. They told him to stop, he didnt stop. They tried to stop him physically, he fought them. So they TAZED him. When police officer says stop, u stop!
I'm pro-OWS. But in this case, the cops were right. Real unbiased talk!
Generally what you don't see is after the person is arrested and placed in the cop car they are read their rights and told why they are being arrested.
@1d0nTwAnTaUsErNaMe Interesting theory, and considering the camera doesn't follow and you cannot prove that is the case, you're statement is simply an assumption.
Granted, burning the flag is dumb. Better to create the Ad Busters Corporate States of America flag, and burn IT! Much more relevant symbolism. Use variety, one of each, and burn them in a series: fossil fuel extraction industries, corporate agriculture, banksters & their thievin' friends, big pharma, job exporters, tax dodgers. Hell make one incorporating flags of Cayman Islands, Bermuda & Ireland & Israel & Saudi Arabia! You get the picture - and so will everyone else.
Oakland has a history with the police not shared by most major cities in the north - between its labor, anti-war, and racial politics, it's been bitter. The Oakland PD is under federal investigation for a history of abuse and corruption, and likely to be taken over by the feds. Even in downtown Manhattan, there wasn't such a profound history of mutual distrust. (The Bronx, Harlem, part of Brooklyn know a whole 'nother more Oakland-like reality).
@69NAWAR69 The cops didnt do anything wrong. They told him to stop, he didnt stop. They tried to stop him physically, he fought them. So they TAZED him. When police officer says stop, u stop!
I'm pro-OWS. But in this case, the cops were right. Real unbiased talk!
fucking pigs, firstly dude there doing nothing wrong you dumb fucking bitch I hope you fucking get hurt, you had no fucking right to tase that guy, go die in a fucking hole, BITCH
@KOLTON545 The cops didnt do anything wrong. They told him to stop, he didnt stop. They tried to stop him physically, he fought them. So they TAZED him. When police officer says stop, u stop!
I'm pro-OWS. But in this case, the cops were right. Real unbiased talk!
When you resist arrest, you're going to get hurt. Don't be stupid. And are tasers safe? This is what I found on Wiki:
A study led by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, concluded that 99.7% of the cases had either minor injuries, such as scrapes and bruises, or none at all; while three persons suffered injuries severe enough to need hospital admission, two of them resulting in death. Their autopsy reports indicated neither death was related to the use of a taser.
@LangeTheThird You better give me your wallet and pull your pants down when I point my gun at your head. If you don't, it's your own fault when your brain is all over the pavement. Don't be stupid. ;D
And so the Taser becomes what it was always intended to be; a tool of compliance. A tool of non-lethal torture even for those who have not violently resisted. This kind of Police-state behaviour is why so many good people have so much disdain for the Police.
this lowers my already abysmal respect level for cops. yeah, their job is tough, but they let power go to their heads. i don't care if they've had a bad day or their dog died, or they were served divorce papers. there's no logical reason to act that way. NWA got it right, Fuck The Police.
@Nomiss9 Retaliating by what? Killing people and putting their heads on spikes, if you do that then the American people will fully turn on OWS (btw people on here criticized the Tea Party for violent rhetoric which is ironic). You retaliate by participating in democracy and putting people who are friendly to OWS in. The TP did this and they were successful and a lot of candidates got in and were not sponsored by big money.
@csjbo1990 Did the cops shoot tear gas canisters on the Tea Party protesters? Did they taze and arrest them for protesting? If they did, I think it'd a fair comparison, but no, the Tea Party guys want to shoot people for "stealing" some of their money so that poor people can have health care. Not the same thing.
If someone tries to put you in a cell for no reason, or uses violence against you (or even tries to fucking kill you) for no reason, you need to defend yourself.
@Nomiss9 The difference between the TP and OWS is that the TP wouldn't occupy public property for weeks on end doing absolutely nothing. They had their protests for a day and then would confront their representative in town hall meetings and address their grievances. If they were not satisfied they coalesced around a candidate who would meet them. I have yet to see OWS do that, and that is what must be done for them to get the change they desire.
cenk and all of tyt inspire me and wantching tyt is a highlight of my day :) seeing this made me want to hit thoes cops and that one guy cop... a bit to many donuts? i hope he slowly dies of high cholesterol and a hart attack via one of thoes horrible devices. i also hope that all the cops who had any part in the brutality slowly die painfuly of strokes sejurs and convulsions
Jailed for fucking taking down signs! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? So, if I take down signs now, I'm going to get tazed and then get arrested... Thanks for the warning.
Disorderly conduct? Keep this up, and we'll end up in martial law, where it's illegal to sneeze on the street and protest the government in any way. This is bullshit.
This coincides with the man being shot to death in front of Carl's Jr... I know the circumstances are different but there is ONE think that's the same in both cases! ABUSE OF POWER!!!!
white people are "occupying" wherever one week then skiing & snowboarding the next week. I guess times are really "ROUGH"....man, fuck that hippie sucker! If he had been Black he would have been shot in the head on camera for resisting arrest and the cop would have got off scott free.
James Madison warned the people to be vigilant and take note of the first experiment with our liberties. But we have already allowed the government far beyond the first encroachment, with only minimal public outrage and opposition. The founders would be ashamed of the passivity of millions of "patriotic" Americans.
The question(s) was "Is that a threat (to police)? Dont you realize your on the internet?"
ANSWER: No its no threat, its a citizen ready to take up ARMS as in the manner described in our Constitution (2nd amendment). It focuses on Militias, militias to keep us free from govermental controls - including Uncle Sam. So YES I am ssayin it LOUD I am excersizing my rights and I'm PROUD!
U should hire some protesters from my country, those police officers would end in the hospital. Americans should man up and fight those bullies, they had no reason to arrest him, so they are breaking the law by trying to arrest him, so fking beat the hell out of them. They feel powerful cause nobody fights them, once their blood starts flowing they wont be so eager to use force.
Tasing & pepper spray are alternatives to SHOOTING people. Not a tools for conveniently arresting people or displaying dissatisfaction with what they are doing.
@oolong2 Tazing and peper spraying are both similar to gunfire - they are meant to incapacitate someone. The use of a Tazer or pepper spray are less likely to result in serious or permanent injury.
the cops in the occupy movements have becoming likes rebel sherifs in the wild west. shoot first ask/answer question later or don't ask/question them at all. That kid didn't have to get tazed. He was clearly scared shitless already. At least a cop could have tried talking to him first to calm down or something. But fuck that!! Police states are soo much better(sarcasm)
People don't believe in consequences. Enforcing the law is not facsism. The convoluted phenomenon of activists playing victim degrades any movement. If you have the balls to stand up to officials then don't cry when you are confronted.

@ViciousOneWon Did you hear it? And you are clearly missing the point. Lets say you are jay-walking, a cop sees it and starts approaching you and you can tell he wants to put you in cuffs. You move away from him and BAM he freakin tases you. Is that the proper way to go about things?
ucancallmetheseeker 3 weeks ago
@ucancallmetheseeker Dont mischaracterizing the situation. The guy didnt simply "move away" for a second . He tried to get away for the ENTIRE VIDEO! They needed at least 3 cops just to catch him.
Even in ur example the guy is doing something illegal. When u do something illegal the cops r allowed to stop and even arrest u. And if u resist - they can taze u! The guy should not have resisted. IMO he could have made the cops drag him to their car while yelling "I'll be back!" in protest!
ViciousOneWon 3 weeks ago
Are you really this thickheaded? Are we watching the same video? The police should have handled this way differently. Also you need to research what common law is.
ucancallmetheseeker 3 weeks ago
@ucancallmetheseeker I know what common law is. Do u?
It is ILLEGAL to pull down signs the police put up. The police ordered the guy to stop; he didnt. The police tried to physcially stop him; he resisted. So the police tazed him and he complied!
Sure, the police could have chased him around all day and hoped that he'd tire out. But they didnt and that perfectly legal.

@ViciousOneWon The irony with some of these comments is that they criticized the Tea Party for using violent rhetoric but now they're doing the same thing.
csjbo1990 3 weeks ago
@csjbo1990 Violence against violence is not the same thing as killing people because you think government health care is tyranny.
Nomiss9 3 weeks ago
@Nomiss9 Violent rhetoric by OWS sympathizers has been going on before cop confrontations. For instance there was a video of a few stock traders viewing the OWS from above (non-violent) and many people commented that they should bring the guillotines out. I am sympathetic to some of the OWS grievances but they need to rethink their strategy.
csjbo1990 3 weeks ago
@csjbo1990 Hmm... Okay, but for some reason I have a hard time believing that the guillotine "threat" was serious. ;P
Can you imagine how the cops would react if the OWS people showed up with guns like the Tea Partiers did? They'd fucking shoot to kill and ask questions later.
Nomiss9 3 weeks ago
@csjbo1990 I'm no tea party fan, but ur right in this case.

And so the Taser becomes what it was always intended to be; a tool of compliance. A tool of non-lethal torture even for those who have not violently resisted. This kind of Police-state behaviour is why so many good people have so much disdain for the Police.

csjbo1990 3 weeks ago
@csjbo1990 Maybe people need to start retaliating instead of just willingly taking it up the ass like you.
Nomiss9 3 weeks ago
@Nomiss9 Retaliating by what? Killing people and putting their heads on spikes, if you do that then the American people will fully turn on OWS (btw people on here criticized the Tea Party for violent rhetoric which is ironic). You retaliate by participating in democracy and putting people who are friendly to OWS in. The TP did this and they were successful and a lot of candidates got in and were not sponsored by big money.
csjbo1990 3 weeks ago
@csjbo1990 Did the cops shoot tear gas canisters on the Tea Party protesters? Did they taze and arrest them for protesting? If they did, I think it'd a fair comparison, but no, the Tea Party guys want to shoot people for "stealing" some of their money so that poor people can have health care. Not the same thing.
If someone tries to put you in a cell for no reason, or uses violence against you (or even tries to fucking kill you) for no reason, you need to defend yourself.
Nomiss9 3 weeks ago
@Nomiss9 The difference between the TP and OWS is that the TP wouldn't occupy public property for weeks on end doing absolutely nothing. They had their protests for a day and then would confront their representative in town hall meetings and address their grievances. If they were not satisfied they coalesced around a candidate who would meet them. I have yet to see OWS do that, and that is what must be done for them to get the change they desire.

James Madison warned the people to be vigilant and take note of the first experiment with our liberties.

End this police state now.

@oolong2 Tazing and peper spraying are both similar to gunfire - they are meant to incapacitate someone. The use of a Tazer or pepper spray are less likely to result in serious or permanent injury.
