Chitral's version is a complete copy of the melody of Many Rivers to Cross by Jimmy Cliff. The only difference is that Sinhala words have been added. No one really knows who Chitral is besides a very small group of Colombo folks. He is certainly not the only thing we have to an international star.

Ask the Sri Lankan diaspora who Bathiya & Santhush, Ranidu, Iraj are and they will know not only who they are but even the lyrics to their songs. Even many Indians know who they are. I can say this because I live overseas. BTW head nodding is done by the rock crowd, not those who are into Hip Hop and RnB.

mate I live overseas too; and I know the respect international metal bands have for chirtal.. how many people in sri lanka actually listen to metal? like i said not all good music is popular.. not everyone can comprehend good msuci and certainly only a very few have good taste.. need I say more?

You said that Chitral "is about the only thing we have to a international star." Well you are wrong there. Plus his Nadee Ganga is certainly not something "original" unless you consider taking somebody else's song and just adding Sinhala words to it to be "original"... as for "good music" that's just one's personal opinion.
