those doors are the Fuel Tank Umbilical hatches. beneath those are hardpoints connecting to that ETank structure plus hose connections for the fuel.

sumtimes a camera is mounted to check ET status for exmaination on the ground.

its free, just get shuttle fleet 4.0 from orbiter hangar to avail of reentry DAP, and ascent AP.

you seems to have a too low altitude at meco. you should not have atm effects.
