Walter they are Happy, thay have all this food. Plus growing up I was told the reason Crows make that noise and most birds, is because they are Prasing the Lord .
We used to go through alot of bird seed because of these birds. They come in groups and chow down. It was interesting to watch them though because they would often sift through the seeds and eat the ones they wanted. Their were seeds flying all over the place.
Thanks for watching. They are kind of noisy as well LOL. I have noticed a good many birds seem to pick the seeds they want, a cardinal will go straight for sunflower seeds
I remember when I first seen a Grackle, I was in basic training down in San Antonio. I remember thinking "what the hell kind of bird is that?" They certainly are noisy, and not shy of humans either. I've long since left south Texas, but that video takes me back, thanks for posting.
Down here these things are everywhere all the time. They are loud and obnoxious and eat up all the food I lay out for the other birds. >< They also chase away other birds. Another thing is the ones here, unlike these, are very...messed up looking. Some have a few feathers missing, some have eyes and even legs missing! Talk about city birds. :S
The Brewer's Blackbird is often mistaken for the Common Grackle but has a shorter tail. The call is a sharp check which is also distinguishable That answer is per wikipedia
What kind of seed are you feeding them? Do they like black sunflower seed? i never see these kinds of Birds in my feeders. But i don't have open feeders like this one.
I lve in Northern Texas and every Spring and Fall the area where I live is over run by Grackles. Every year when they come there is reports in the news about how much they are bothering store owners and people living near by. As a word of advice never park near where Gracles are perched they rain poop on your car ICK!!
Do you mind my asking where you live? I'm in Northern Ontario and I've been getting these birds in flocks lately at our feeder. They have been robbing the thing clean for hours at a time. I find their interaction w/ each other pretty interesting though but the sounds they make outside my window get a bit nerve wrenching after a while hehe. I thought they were a type of magpie or raven at first but just learned today of the family of which they belong. Persistent little buggers!
If you think that Southern accent is hard to understand....you haven't seen nothin'! LOL Try talking to the old folks in the Appalachian mountains. Sometimes I can't even understand my own grandma lol.
Probably true, but I think that a Northwestern Crow would be quite frightened to see one!

These guys are oportunist and will eat about anything anywhere. A more reliabe feed and less expensive food for these guys is corn,
