global warming my ass. If this is a 400 year phenomena and the global warming scaremongers only started preaching about global warming a few years ago then how does the math work?
Gosh, that was a horrible flood and just been boscastle recently on holdiay (8th August 2011) and we've walked down them streets which were flooded and parked a car where it has been flooded. It's a miricale that no one died.
On behalf of the Americans who are not halfwits, and we really do exist, I just want to say that everyone that I have heard of who was directly involved in this handled themselves very well in an unprecedented situation. I've been in a flash flood, although not one this big, and I know how terrifying they can be.
Also, the helicopter pilots deserved medals for some truly impressive flying.

@kizzaparkour Um... how am I the retard? You're the one who can't even write an essay on a flood that was caused by obvious factors, such as the river being canalised and the trees being too close to the river upstream.
me and my family got caught in this when we where on holiday in a nearby campsite. we had a tv in the car so we set it up, out it on top of the roof and everyone came round to have a look at what was happening. Later on we ended up beening on bbc news. Sad day for all the people who had lost everything
Most of the buildings did stand, so they couldn't have been too flimsy. If that deluge had happened in many third world countries, practically nothing would have been left.
Read the Bible to make sense of the world today.repent as we are all sinners.Pledge yourself to Jesus and you will be saved. There ae mant Antichrists in the world already.Obama,Oprah maybe building mosque near ground zero saying the sermon on the mount is stupid calling on his Muslim brothers on National pray day to the white house and putting in jail 2 Christians praying in public. The Lord will punish him

I've just returned from a trip to Cornwall and can honestly say Boscastle is one of the most picturesque villages I've ever seen. Seeing it now, it's crazy to think anything so severe ever happened to it. They've done an immense job rebuilding the place.
Seriously, if you get the chance, give it a visit.
@staining15 - ah yes, that must be why the witchcraft museum survived and the christian bookshop was destroyed...incidentally it's six years later, just when are these end times ever going to come?
i stayed in a camp site in boscastle just up the hill abit about june-july time when i saw what happened was devastating my mum and dad wne t for they're hunny moon back 20 -22 years agoo it was a real shame and horror to see what happened to the lush cornish village

In England nothing ever happens, people get excited when something does, and make a big deal out of it, but only because its in the UK, they dont give a shit about disasters affecting poor countries around the world, unless if there is a British tourist, who was sipping cocktails in his luxurious villa 100 miles away from the actual affected zone, they will sound the trumpets and pretend they care.
Wow, you're a idiot aren't you. It wasn't 'excitement' that surrounded Boscastle, it was dread and terror. It wasn't some tiny flood but a pretty major disaster for a small village community. And what basis do you have for the statement about the UK not giving a crap about disasters in poorer countries - I'd love to see your evidence for that...
Same goes for most places, I'm afraid. Human beings are just like that, we're all more interested in the things closer to home. Still, many of us do care about other people, however far away they may be.
When there's a disaster in a developing country - we (the UK) send shelter boxes, specialist search dog teams, hundreds of thousands of our hard earned pounds, food and expert help for regeneration. When there's something like this in the UK, we're lucky if we even get help from our own government, let alone anyone elses!
Hey you are so right couldn't agree more, I don't give a shit about anything unless it happens here; why should I. Did the world club together for these poor people, NO!! we look after our own!

wierd thing is we got chased by a ufo exactly 3 weeks to the day b4 boscastle flooded!we went back the following weekend to try and find wer the object followed us from but i just couldnt remember!we then went back following weekend 2nd week and thought we wer being followed by couple of cars and 3rd week exactly 3 weeks to day this happened!very spooky,i told my friends wot happened and wen boscastle flooded they all new something wasnt right!Sounds crazy but true! The 16th was a monday!
Obviously the inbred timmo2k is not from Boscastle. The resilience of the locals from this natural disaster is unbelievable and my sincere thanks to the many volunteers who helped to clean up the carnage and restore the village back to it's natural beauty....except to the engineers who decided that the new toilets would be best positioned at the front of the car park, but hopefully the sewage system has been properly repaired! My hats off also to Prince Charles who helped contribute !
yeah man, i was joking really. its good to laugh at, but we know inbreeding doesnt happen in cornwall like the jokes say. But norfolk on the other hand...........
i visited boscastle in the late 90s...we went to the witchcraft museum...i heard a rumour that museum survived (untouched) by the flood...is that true?
if so - it proves that boscastle is the satanic capital of britain...we saw devil-worshippers when were there...i blame the flood on the christians moving in - and taunting satan to come and claim them for his own....
I'm researching the Boscastle flood and would love to hear from anyone with first hand experience of the flood who would be happy to share their experience.
i was there just 2 days before that flood visiting my nan ana grandad they just live on the hill coming up from the newsagents they didnt get hit though luckily no one died which is soooooo lucky
i remember that day, i was about 20 miles away at the time, my uncle was in the rescue helicopter, thank god no one died. i went to boscastle this summer, its not the same, but its ok, there redoing the car park, because the last one was tarmac and so the rain just swept thru!
we were on holiday in nearby camelford with our three sons then aged 3,4 and 6. we visited lands end and got caught in the rain, they still talk about it. when we ghot back to our hotel in michaelstowe near boscastle it was like a disaster movie. we went swimming in the poo which had a glass roof and watched rescue helicopters ferrying people in. my boys thought it was like a disaster film. was a truely unique experience to go through as a family.
it was well scary when i arrived wid st john ambulance it jus so happened we had planned to do an excercise that evening in a river near by till we got the call of emergency. one of my colleges broke a leg there trying to save somone.
im from bude just down the road. i was in boscastle the day before this happened jumping off the break water im just thankful i didnt go one day later or i wouldnt be around today.
i luv cornwall it is my 2nd home bt no1 got any footage of wat tintagel was like dat day coz me n my family wer at tintagel afta decidin agenst goin 2 boscastle coz we went da day b4...so scary

i remember that day, i was about 20 miles away at the time, my uncle was in the rescue helicopter, thank god no one died. i went to boscastle this summer, its not the same, but its ok, there redoing the car park, because the last one was tarmac and so the rain just swept thru!

we were on holiday in nearby camelford with our three sons then aged 3,4 and 6. we visited lands end and got caught in the rain, they still talk about it. when we ghot back to our hotel in michaelstowe near boscastle it was like a disaster movie. we went swimming in the poo which had a glass roof and watched rescue helicopters ferrying people in. my boys thought it was like a disaster film. was a truely unique experience to go through as a family.
memories?????

@Brettyvincent I don't think taking your sons to swim in the poo was a very clever thing to do.

Norwich Union wouldn't pay out on my loss of car . 'We Don't make a drama out of a crisis they say'
Bunch of wankers i say! I don't bother with insurance now. These floods are gonna get more common.

Certainly a tragedy, but one has to wonder what the people who founded the village were thinking, settling so close to a river. Rivers flood, period.

Every major city in the world is next to a river. Do some research and you will find out why.

yeah i was going to say... pretty much all settlements begin near a river.
