A mate of mine in Recon once told me that one problem with the Styer is that the cocking handle is plastic and can break off if you fall on it, such as when dropping for cover under fire, which is exactly the time you *don't* want to be unable to cock your weapon.

the steyer isnt crap, its similar to the m-16 in that if u take care of it it will work well. my mates who have served in the Australian Defence Force say its a good rifle and that its accurate yet in this clip they said its only got average accuracy, wtf! i've been told that good marksmen with the steyer can hit targets at 600-800.m.

Styer is crap. It jamms as much as M-16, so americans can easily swich to it, no loss in fuck-ups. It is reasonably accurate, but scope is a pain in the ass and you can never get it PERFECTLY zeroed, as you can with sniper rifles. It's volnurable to everything. Cold, heat, carbon, sand mud... You name it. It's a pussy of a rifle.

I know this sounds kinda silly but if you were in WWII and you were an american what guns would you have. No videogame geeks saying "oh I would ave an M1 garand, BAR, M1 carbine, M2 carbine, an M1919A4 machinegun and a bazooka" alright. You know one rifle or shotgun,a secondary pistol, and a specialty weapon(comp B, bazooka). EXAMPLE

I would want an M2 carbine and a S&W Model 10victory revolver and some Composition B as a specialty weapon. I just want you opinion.

Looks arn't that important, innovation and shooting effectiveness are most important. I dont think the AK47 should be the first, the M4A1 or the M16A2 should be.

416 is still a little behind Scar and Xm8 series in terms of reliability.

But the scar is pretty bulky if you know what I mean. It's light yeah but does it have a cold hammer barrel? I don't know because I hav'nt looked it up and I dont really like it cuz I'm all for H&K. The XM8 battle carbine was shelved in 2004. I wish they issued it because it was, well, awesome and it was produced by H&K as well. No offence against your opinion.

Oh yeah and as you well know FN and H&K are toe to toe. FN makes the PDW the P90 and H&K makes the Mp7. H&K makes the lightweight battle carbine, the XM8 and FN makes the SCAR project. So they are against each other. But again no offense.

Xm8 is probably the most reliable modern assault rifle at the moment. IMO these are the reasons why it was canceled:

1. Not more accurate than M16/M4 family. In fact XM8 carbine is a little less accurate than M4 carbine due to its shorter barrel and not even HK's octagonal rifling will save it.

2. Even tho the price of a single rifle is lower or comparable to M4, moving to completely new desing would be hella expensive because it would also mean replacing other eqipment for example cleaning kits

3. Political reasons, senators and their funds in Colt, reliations and so on.

btw. Even tho Xm8 isn't more accurate than M16, cold hammer-forged barrel allows it to maintian its accuracy for over 20,000 rounds
