This short little song has the coplete possibility of a movie plot behind it if someone with that talent took the time to really take the points of the song and draw them out enough I'm pretty sure they could develop a plot with a tearjerking ending. All of Jim's songs had a message behind hem and a lesson to be learned. Miss his writings and talent alot but grateful for the time Yahweh had him here with us.
Go, right now and tell someone you love that you feel that way. Once the lights go our that's it. We sit here, listening to Jim's songs and will never, and can never know.
Now is most of what you have, use it while you can.
This man was taken before his time. We listened to him in our college years, and I remember the day I learned that he died in that plane crash. We had just gotten back to college when it happened in late September. We all lost so much that day. We'll never hear him in our later years as we've heard Peter, Paul and Mary, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel, Don McClean and the others that shaped our thoughts.
My dad loved this christmas song and always played it when we had to drive somewhere together in december. Now that I'm in the Army, it will be our first christmas away from each other, it's nice to hear the song still though.
this song sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much
I am so fortunate to have lived in this lifetime to experience the music of Jim Croce. His music has greatly influenced me in my music and the way I think. Rarely do you find an artist with so much depth and yet so honest, so down to earth and yet so celestial. Thank you Mr. Croce for the music...they don't make them like they used to.
I agree with all of the positive comments. Beautiful song!! The only Christmas song our hokey radio station plays is "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams until I want to barf. They won't play a great one like this.
along time ago when jim was alive before people trampled each other at wallmart christmas ment helping others less fortunate. the credit age put a stop to that. are we better off? you tell me i for one dont think so...
During the Christmas season, I always hope this song will come on at least once. It's great because it isn't like a regular, over-played, cliched "Christmas" song. It definitely captures the feeling of the season and how lonely it can make one feel, and I love this song for that.
I was only 3 when he died, but oddly I do remember my father being upset about it. It is barely a memory but it is there. Grew up on Jim, Cat and Santana and a bunch of old country.
Great artist. I recall vividly when he died...sad, sad day. Somewhat surprised that Hollywood has not made a movie about him a la The Buddy Holly Story, La Bamba...
His life story is quite interesting..his music indelible and immortal
