  • biggest african american entertainer and opened the door for michael jackson and so on. sinatra opened the door for sammy and jfk god bless the rat pack..

  • the worlds greatest entertainer

  • I've thought Davis Jr was cool every since I saw him in that movie "The Boy Who Loved Christmas" back when I was a kid. He just seemed cool. If they ever do a movie about him, Tommy Davidson was like, born to play him. Don't believe me? Think back to the Varnell Hill episodes of the Martin tv show. Nuff said.

  • just his walk alone is worth the price of admission......MR. Davis!!!!

  • R.I.P (Return if Possible) TO THE CLASSIEST BLACK MAN THAT HAS EVER LIVED!!!!

  • Does anyone know what the hell Sammy is saying half the time?

  • I thought Arsenio was going to kiss his ass!

  • he is so dope!

  • I can't believe they didnt stand up for him, I would have jumped for joy to see him! love you sammy, always

  • @southernbrooklyngal I agree. i was thinking the exact same thing.

  • One word to describe Sammy, LEGEND!!! Although i never saw him in person, I was very fortunate that I was old enough to witnessed the talent to one of the greatest entertainers of all time whenever he appeared on a television show. Thanks for the memories Sammy.

  • this my 1st time really paying attention to him and i like his personality more than his music and acting

  • Classic :-)

  • Great interview. Sammy was and is a legend. Thanks for posting this classic.

  • Arsenio really had the best show back in his time...His line-up of guests reads like a "Who's Who" in the entertainment business, plus he had Bill Clinton as a guest, before he became president, to boot...Sammy was a fantastic interviewee and has the best stories, because he has experienced so much throughout his life and career...His guest appearance on The Cosby Show was very memorable...Had he not smoked, did drugs and drank as much as he did, he would've lived way past 65 years of age.

  • ♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY ♫ - Sammy Davis Jr

    Would be 85 today - 8th Dec 2010!

    We miss you Sammy! ♡

  • Oh.....Does anyone know the name of the song the band is playing right at the end? I used to have that on cassette when I was in the Air Force stationed in Germany back in 1982.

  • I love his honesty about his drug and alcohol use...

  • @mtheodoris42 Totally! Absolute class.

  • Oh my...Laughing out loud. This is awesome material. Why we dont got stuff like this on tele anymore.simple basic stuff.True humor.

  • I can't say that my first comment to the great Sammy Davis Jr. would have been about barbeque sauce.

  • newark nj! thats where its at... i was born there haha

  • One of the most talented and classiest human beings in the history of show business.

  • amen!

  • michael frank dean and sammy....veryfew

  • hey tweezee thanx for warm reply....luv my ratpack

  • It's so sad that he is gone, what a class act!

  • what else can i do with a straw! LOL

  • sammy is the man

  • ok thx!

    well, thats right!

But you know he is Sammy!

  • The thing that strikes me most about this video is how dated Arsenio looks and Sammy sits there looking as timeless as ever.

  • in which year was this taken?

  • Late 80's, early 1990 since Sammy Davis Jr died in May of 90.

  • @Lollo1633 My guess is early 1989.

  • What a legendary class act. We need more genuine entertainers. There'll never be another like him, that's for sure.

  • I'm in my 30s, but in my teens the only reason I ever watched the Jerry Lewis Telethon was to see Sammy solo and with Jerry. The Telethon hasn't been the same since his death in 1990. He was only in his 60s at the time, and should have still been alive today if he had proper medical care.

  • StephanAOTTO1, I couldn't agree more !!

    ACKNOWLEDGE THE GREATNESS !

This man was acknowledged by the other GREAT entertainers of the last century , i.e. Sinatra , Nat Cole , Dean , et all ... to be THE BEST entertainer of his generation ! PERIOD ! And he didn't even get these people on there feet ?!

    Shame on you !

    Thanks for posting this .

    David

  • My main man, Sammy. Love him...

  • Pause at 1:58 to find a classic Sammy Davis characture face. Right eye crossed in nose jacked up lol.

  • Sammy would have loved some of these cooking shows we have now. I've read he was an excellent cook. How can one man have so much talent? Aren't we blessed? Thanks for posting this show, Joe.

  • I'm a little confused. Is there a reason why they did not stand up? Did they think he said Sammy Sosa?

  • Yeah I can't believe people didn't stand up. Arsenio needs to come back for real...

"something else to do with a straw"...he's a nut

  • This dude has so much charisma....I could just watch him talk all night.

    God Bless you Sammy.

  • The man DESERVES a 10-minute STANDING OVATION as soon as he hits the curtain, period!!

  • @StephanAOTTO1 AGREED

  • "I looooove booze!" Oh, I miss Sammy. Other performers of his era sat on talk shows and coasted. He always, always delivered.

  • Sammy was so sweet and has such an amazing sense of humor. I love Candy Man a lot and I'm glad the crowd gave him his props. That's really nice of them.

  • Great interviewEE.

    Bland interviewER.

  • lmao! 'the doctor said "you gon DIE!"'

    priceless sammy.

  • Hilarious!
