  • I love this song <3 Javert and Valjean are really mainly different in one thing: Valjean understands the need for mercy and Javert doesn't. They both believe in God, but Valjean knows that God is merciful and compassionate and loving, not continually wrathful and condemning. To me it's so tragic that Javert couldn't understand that.

  • I love this song. Its amazing, and this Javert is great!

  • unhappiest song of the whole story

  • @southpark34005 nahh look down is. the starvation of thousands based on historical events is much sadder than the fictional suicide of one figure of authority

  • Its a great Song Javert always believed strongly that the law was morally right and fully justifiable.

Now he is faced with the situation where he cannot act lawfully without acting immorally and vice versa.

So the only way he could win the game he found himself in was to remove himself from the board.

  • when ever i sing this song or listen to it I always cry.

  • Love, love, love, love, love! This song is too many things.I love how the song mirrors ValJeans' Soliloquy. I love this Javert. Such an incredible recording.

  • This song gives me so many chills that I confuse Summer for Winter.

  • Oddly enough, I think this may be my favorite song of Javert's. He's frantic, but at the same time, he's finally giving up. ...It's sort of funny too, because he's freaking out about being *spared* his life instead of being threatened. It's just...unorthodox. xD

Guess that didn't make much sense. Either way, long live Les Misérables! =3
