  • Great video to know about the Auroville...I thank the up-loader of this video...

  • I lived in Auroville for 6 months - it's a true sanctuary, with the most incredible people, events, food, architecture, and culture. It was the best six months of my life.

As a summary of Auroville, even as a trailer, this video completely fails. If I saw this video prior to going to Auroville, I may have never gone and missed out on one of the best experiences the world has to offer.

  • For me seems that most the indian people still getting the labor jobs, like constructing, collecting son on, while the white people, those from rich country can enjoy the whole spiritual, utopian thing. But I got that just with 5 minutes of video here in youtube. Probably I'm wrong, right?

  • @txalle A lot of the labour is outsourced locally in neighbouring towns/villages. This provides local employment and in exchange Auroville is getting cost efficient labour. It's not ideal but it is still creating many local jobs which would otherwise not exist. BTW watch the other documentaries, you'll find people of all races doing manual labour.

  • Spirituality is for sale ;)

  • For me its look like the Indian people still get the labor jobs, and the white people can enjoy the whole spiritual, utopian thing. But just for what I saw in this video....right?

  • @txalle Speaking as a visitor: 43% of Aurovillians are Indians. Many of them have (Tamil) servants too. Rich whites are more likely to perform manual labour than are rich Indians. Why the difference? I am just guessing but think guilt and romanticism play a part but I have just as often seen it done because of the desire for a rounded life and an appreciation for the earth makes getting one's hand dirty a ritual connection. It took until the 60s in the West for the educted to come full circle.

  • So nice to hear Nadaka's dulcet tones... :) Very nice to see the footage- well done!

  • that blonde yankee lass is gorgeous. Great advert 4 auroville

  • How is this *not* communism dressed up?

  • @mrichman Communism failed. This is community sense and main difference is that here you have freedom. In Communism you had the right to shut up and thats it.. This is an experiment saying "We ar an experiment we don't know final answers, we try" Communism said "We have found the only truth here." That's it. By the way I am hungarian. We had communist system for 40 years here

  • @mrichman well mrrichman, if you had paid attention in your history classes you would know how different this is from communism, and would notice the main dividing principles are that of authority and heirarchy. In communism there was much room for corruption and personal gain, and it was a very absolutist approach. This, on the other hand, is very relativist and changing over time. Is your username your actual name or are you an aspiring capitalist? lol

  • don't listen to the mainstream disinfo propaganda or at least take it with caution... the mainstream media always discredited alternative experimental communes throughout the last century claiming them to be a cult, child abusers, drug addicts etc. (i am not talking about auroville here, but lived alternatives like them in general). before i judge such communes, i would go there myself and check it out. in case of auroville, i met many people who went there many times and just loved it.

  • @SmashTheState1 I think you mean socialism

  • HAHAHAHA INDIAN EPCOT!!!!!!

  • Yes, except that they started building it a long time before the Epcot Center was even designed...

  • The Venus Project is proposing doing something similar to this world wide but, with no monetary system, no government, and a focus on using technology to solve problems. How does this differ from the vision of Auroville? (I only just heard of Auroville)

  • @futurewavecs I'm not an expert about Auroville, but seems to me the main difference is they do not focus on technology over there

  • @mbass77 Yeah, thats true. I believe integrating more technology would provide ample support for larger communities.

  • @futurewavecs I don't see a lot of difference. I mean, the only difference is that Venus Project proposes using advanced technology to free humans of any kind of labor.

  • @futurewavecs Given the choice, I would prefer the V.P.. A main difference, as I see it, is that Auroville is guided by the ideals of their founder in a very spiritual sense, and is surrendering to a higher authority (i.e. Supreme Truth). Auroville is supposed to be free of religious and political systems, but this spiritual aspect seems to be a central concept which I am not a fan of (speaking as an atheist). VP is more oriented on the understanding of science, logic and morality.

  • This sounds like an incredible story. Very timely. I can't wait to see the entire show. Great work.

  • This place full of child abuse

  • There was just 1 teacher being a pedophile right?

  • Thats just what the untrue BBC show said
