2. The statistics shows no reducing of the number of population.
3. There is no possibillity for anyone to tell Russian from Ukrainian.
4. There were no emigrants from Eastern Ukraina (which was told to be starving) to Poland or Romania, but Romanians emigrated to Ukraine.
5. Some years later Eastern Ukrainians fought against Hitler and for Stalin as desperately as Russians (not to compare to Western one, former Polish citizens)

@rakuuu85 1. Go to any cemetery and count yourself. Ukrainians bury their relatives on cemetery, whether they starved or not.
2. Statistic of any village, city, district still exists, Yuschenko had no power to destroy it.
4.The single escaped Pollack isn't proof that thousands of Ukrainians escaped. It is proof that they preferred to stay while there was possibility to emigrate. It was cuz level of smuggle from Poland was always huge.
@rakuuu85 And don't bullshit people about 700 000 Cossacks. Hitler gathered all rascals in Europe to throw in the battle. And so called Cossacks were mostly white emigrants from all France, Germany, Poland. What is remarkable: not a single battalion from Eastern Ukraine, who ought to be starved by Stalin.

If someone had 40 years in 1917, then how old he would be in 1941? Not to old to sit on horse?
I gave you AT LEAST one name of eye witness. You dont give any names. Besides, in the late 90s i read raports of "Dwójka" from Marchlewsk(Dolbysz). In ALL memoir collections I got familiar, there is a femine.
@tagaphon get familiar with AT LEAST with one of these publications which I have right now on mine table. Its high time for you to get, that wikipedia and Muchin its nothin, worthless shit like you. You want more?
Andrzej Peplonski-Wywiad wojskowy na Rosję Radziecka 1921-1939. there in appendix you have terrein reports and testimonies from Kiev, Dolbysz, Zytomier and Kamieniec Podolski.
@rakuuu85 Let's assume. You don't deny that there is impossible to tell Ukrainian from Russian and they live mixed for centuries. You don't deny that you don't know any Ukrainian that escaped to homeland of your forefathers, to Poland. You don't deny that in any cemetery there is no much more graves in 1932-34 than any other time. You don't deny that you don't know about Eastern Ukrainians that fought for Germans. What for have I to touch your shit?
@tagaphon aha and those photos are what? Photoshop XXI century production? You know that I dont care about them, but there are enough of evidence that the remianing Poles in Ukraine suffred from femine. Its everythere I got to know: Berdyczow, Winnica, Plosikirow
@tagaphon maybe instead of Eastern Ukraine you will start saying Malorusy? Kiev in 30s was more russ-polish-jewish then any ukrainian, tam daze i polski teatr byl. No mass graves its not an issue. Did they found any graves of Armeninians killed by Turks? Are there any holocaust graves or from 30 year war in XVII? Do we have mass graves from black death? We are not talkin about regular crime, where body its evidence. If there was a village side way, and all of them got dead, then who counts them
@tagaphon you see the difference? I gave you 3 sources, you can only quote Muchin or wikipedia. You only care about social self esteem of morans like you, I dont give a shit. Guess why you eat only potatoes and I eat rice and pasta. You get stonned with samogon, I with armenian cognac. Get ready for elecyions beter, Ziuganov its waitin for you.
@rakuuu85 Now u start spamming the information. So I understand, that you have no arguments. Cosher food doesn't fit for born Pollack, you become more idiot than usually.
Today much of Nazi scum is hired to propaganda holodomor bullshit. What can they know about that? In the time of so called holodomor they were busy killing Polish teachers. They were citizens of Poland then and are living in US now, these of them who were not hanged for their crimes. I can't even say that most Western Ukrainians belonged to that crap. As for Eastern Ukrainians some of very famous marshals of SU Vasilevski, Timoshenko, Rybalko and other were Ukrainians.
And another proof. If the famine was really so disastrous and made on purpose, why didn't Eastern Ukrainian cooperated with Hitler? There were plenty of guerrillas in Eastern Ukraine, and very many heroes and marshals of Great Patriotic war were Ukrainians. That were Western Ukrainian who cooperated with Hitler. They started this cooperation against Poland, which occupied Western Ukraine until 1939. Many Western Ukrainian were crueler than Hitler, that's why they escaped to US after ww2.
@tagaphon Many eastern ukrainians fighted in UPA. And not only eastern ukrainians but kuban ukrainians too. Yes its true that in not so big scale that in Western Ukraine but this is because of 1 Level of patriotism (Eastern UKR patriotism was smashed in 32/33 genocide+soviet repressions during more then 20 years+many soviet russian were send to rule ukraine during this time+Eastern part of Ukraine was part of Russian Empire during 200 years)2Geographically was many more difficult fight in plains
Don't let them deceive you. That's easy to check, that Russians and Ukrainians were one nation until 12th century and after 1652 they are together again, they have the same faith, very similar languages, many German and English dialects are more different from each other than Russian and Ukrainians. There is not a single town in Russia where there are no Ukrainians and there are no town or village in Ukraine where there are no Russians.
@tagaphon Where did Ukrainian nationalism come from then? flames of an existant but smashed patriotism, were fanned upon Nazi liberation howbeit shortlived from fascist oppression. Nationalist fervor lay dormant post purges, deportations, and famines. There's no debate as to whether was an autonomous Ukraine identity.
I personally think we should begin looking @ Marxism not as a system of meaningfull thought but a symptom of psychopathology. I can easily find for you the quotes from Marx & Engels where they talk enthusiastically about genocide. The term didnt exist yet but they are clearly discussing the extinction of entire races & classes.
It is clear that his fatuous ideology was only a pretense to explain (atleast to himself) his need to kill. Others like him (Lenin, Stalin) have followed.
Lol, so many foreighners here not knowing anything 'bout history. My grandmother, grandfather and grandgrandmother survived this famine. It was actually all around the USSR, not only in Ukraine. I agree up to a point with tagaphon.
> the nationalities living in Ukraine (very mixed), the difference between them (nobody could differ Ukrainian from Russian, even by language)
@chickenwretch And what are you worshipping, my ignorant, swearing friend? Hatred to communists? What do YOU believe in?
I don't want to prove that all that is a lie. I want to show to everyone with brains, that it is IDIOTIC lie, insulting by the fact that someone can think we could believe it. Just check the population of Ukraine (only 29 mln at that time!!!), the nationalities living in Ukraine (very mixed), the difference between them (nobody can't tell Ukrainian from Russian, even by language), the fact that nobody knew about that until last decade, inspite mlns are said to be starved.
I wish someone or thing would shut the mouths of neoStalinists. They're waiting to commit another bloodbath on the unsuspecting and undiscerning. Eyewitness accounts of Soviet crimes are their nemesis, and these Bolshevik sheep disregard accuracy. May they remain in a vodka haze and continue worshipping busts of their icons.
@chickenwretch Really, Ukraine was never an independent country, until 1991. Ukrainians and russians were one nation during almost 200 years. And before that, it was a part of more than 5 different countrys. So saying that this famine was made artificially against ukrainians, considering that it was in kazakhstan, near Volga, in Syberia and in some parts of Russia, is so god damn stupid, that i don't have enough words to describe it.
@TophatFaggot If you would do a more objective research you'd discover there were large Ukranian populations in these other parts of the SU and were targets of famine. It's no secret that Stalin was trying to break the back of Ukrainian nationalism since loosing their wealth wasn't an option. There are countless foreigners that know more about American history than I do; they make it a point to do so.May I suggest you do the same concerning your own damn history, you essence of dogfarts.
Pure truth is Stalin wanted to starve people for his own satisfaction. He cared less about economy. He didn't care about anything except what goes in his mouth. In Russia Stalin order to confiscate live stock and fed enemies. For those who lived their know that he was pure evil. Taking money from rich and building industrials was what he did. Russia would have been the riches country. Most of the inventors and thinkers originated and migrated away from Russia. I would never return to Russia.
no see Parenti and Mayer--(The furies) the figure is correct--BUT why because kulaks were killing their animals faster than moscow could make tractors!! Did terrible things happen in USSR under Comrade Stalin and did he make mistakes -of course-I would trust anyone who did not (they sit around in rooms and do nothing) Comrade Stalin did not kill 7 million Congolese for Mobiles--furthermore the introduction of machinery saved the country and world later
Stalin was in fact murdered by those that had done the bulk of the genocide. After WW-2 he had regained his Christian faith and with the war over was in a position to finally bring the mass murderers who had acted with impunity in the 1930s to justice. The bad guys saw it coming and murdered him. Lazar Kangovitch died a well fed and very old man after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Hey guys, everybody speaking about Jews here are trolls. Don't feed the troll! Publisher of the movie, please remove all comments, its all non-sense and it corrupts the primary purpose of the video.
here comes those nonsense accusation against Jews. Jews wished no more except for a peace of land in the midst of the dessert. What they can do against those powerful elites of Europe who for hundred of years are displaying their war weapons in battle? They don;t even have a land that the can freely own! They were even victims of similar killings! Putting some fuckin Jews in power like Lenin are nothing but part of antisemitic campaign begun hundred of years ago by its prime promoter - papacy.

Why don't we ever see anything Ukrainian famine on the History Channel or PBS? I've tried to find a couple of movies made about it in the 1990's on DVD but with no luck.
I was lucky my grandparents were able to escape before the famine but my grandmother, a young teen, was shot in the chest by the Soviets when they came to raid the family farm.
This comment can be pointed out to DrMundo74. This is not propaganda it is the solid truth. People all over the world recognize every genocide and crimes against humanity. But the only people who are silenced are Ukrainians.
I advise everyone who is Ukrainian and has the knowledge of the genocide to flag every one of DrMundo74's comments. He has posted them on every dedication to the Holodomor, Death By Hunger!
Everyone closed their eyes on this as they closed their eyes on Hitler.
In his 1953 speech the "father of the [UN] Genocide Convention," Dr Raphael Lemkin described "the destruction of the Ukrainian nation" as the "classic example of genocide," for "...the Ukrainian is not and never has been a Russian... It is a case of genocide, of the destruction of a culture and a nation.."
at uccla website his document: SOVIET_GENOCIDE_IN_THE_UKRAINE.
Don't pay attention to DrMundo74 who is a russian chauvinist and provocator and who is very scared for being revealed who he is in fact... ) Russia just doesn't want to acknowledge the fact of the famine as it is a successor of the USSR which wasn't much better than nazi Germany. Their attack on Georgia only proves it. Russia is evil as well as Iran and Northern Korea.
@Ms73501505 I agree about DrMundo74. You should read his comments in Russian on another blog. There he goes as far as to deny existence of famine itself, existence Ukrainians as a nation, quoted Soviet and Russian neo-nazi documents as a proof, and when you pin him to the wall with the proof, he writes terrible profanity calling everyone, who has a nerve to disagree with him, the worst names. I had a stupidity to answer him and he spited on graves of my family. He has no respect for history.
1) Oh, of course Ukrainians do exist. There was no even such word, such ETHNONYM until the second half of the 19th century.
2) I already gave you the facts below. And I say again - calling the Famine of 1933 all over USSR - Eastern Ukraine, South Russia,Central Russia, Volga Region, Kazakhstan, Urals a "Genocide of Ukrainian Nation" is a sick, chauvinistic lie. Utmost disrespect to people of other ethnicities who died.
1) As you profess to be such an authority on the non-existence of Ukrainians, make your own video to state your case.
2) As you profess to be such an authority on Holodomor as being a hoax, make your own video to state your case.
We shall see how well your cases stand up to historical scrutiny. Until then, stop spamming everyone else's videos with your snippets of 'facts' as selectively dragged out of context to suit your brand of Russophile propaganda.
100 million? Your joking right? WWII killed 50-80 million! So your saying that Stalin killed more than the total death toll for WWII? I am afraid you are the worst historian i have come across. The clip is incredibly simplistic and lacks different points of view (e.g E.H.Carr or Hunter). This clip simply makes sweeping inaccurate and misguided statments. I have studied this subject indepth and it is upsetting that people like you attempt to display histroy in such a crude and inaccurate fashion.
@edwardmiles2 I keep seeing the figure of 10 mln Ukrainians killed by "bloody Russians"
Looked up in Wikipedia "Demographics of Ukraine"
According to Wikipedia the population of Ukr SSR in 1931 was:
1931[11] 23,263,000
that means nearly every SECOND "Ukrainian" was "genocided" ? (a great part of the population of the Ukraine despite Bolshevik Ukrainization of the 20s was Russian. Ethnonym "Ukrainian" appeared only in the second half of the 19th c.
Every SECOND was "genocided" and everyone was silent pretty much until 2004 when EX-President Nationalist Yuschenko came to power in 2004 and spent MILLIONS on building monuments and "raising awareness"
watch?v=miHw4egKbZA
Google "Fraud, Famine and Fascism" - Great book with REAL facts behind this propaganda!
This propaganda is just sickening. Particularly making it look like an ETHNIC genocide. What about the Russian population that died?
Ukrainian Nationalists in Western Ukraine shout the most about "Holodomor". They just want to cover up their own crimes - genocide of Poles during WWII - over 100.000 people slaughtered Rwanda style and (Volhynia Masacre) and their participation in the Holocaust. Thousands were Hitler collaborators:
The Famine of `1933-1934 was all over USSR. People died in Central Russia, Volga Region, Kazakhstan, not only in the Ukraine. Much of the population in 1933 East Ukraine despite the Bolshevik Ukrainization of 1920s did not consider themselves any different from the people of RSFSR - it's one people.
Western Ukraine ,e.g. Galicia that has been part of Austria and Poland for centuries is different. The cradle of Ukrainian Nationalists who glorify Stepan Bandera and OUN/UPA - Hitler collaborators during the WWII. They shout the most about "ethnic" genocide but in 1933 they were not even part of USSR and could not be possibly "genocided" by Stalin. That "country" back then was Poland - until 1939.
@DrMundo74 Western Ukrainians KNEW about it. They were right on the border! They have the right to shout about fellow Ukrainians having been targeted for genocide. Your 'argument' makes absolutely no sense. My family, and so many of those we know, lived in Soviet (Russian occupied) Ukraine & can name so many families who died; so many individuals who died; the circumstances of their death and the stealing of their food supplies that it is emotionally shattering. They WERE THERE! YOU WERE NOT!
@irynski What do you mean Eastern Ukraine was "Russian occupied"? It HAS BEEN Russia ( Little Russia) for centuries! - until Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 when it became Soviet Ukraine - UkrSSR.
The ethnonym "Ukrainian" appeared only in the end of 19c in Galicia (Western Ukraine) that has been part of Poland and Austrian Empire for centuries.
The people in East Ukraine started being called "Ukrainians" only after Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.
UKRAINIZATION was the official Bolshevik policy in 1920s. Open Wikipedia. The people of what was Little Russia (Malorossia) were "encouraged" to speak "Ukrainian language". A mixture of West Ukrainian "mowa" ( the language of peasants in Polish Ukrajna) and South Little-Russian dialects
" Ukraine's cities are still dominated by Russian elements, in the course of time these cities will be inevitably Ukrainized"
Joseph Stalin,
From the speech at the X Congress of the Party in 1921
Ukrainization launched by Bolsheviks according to Mr.Lenin's "The Right of Nations to Self-Determination" was far from voluntary.
"Ukrainization has been and will be enforced with most decisive measures. Whoever does not understand or does not want to understand cannot be considered by the Government anything other than a Counterrevolutionary and conscious or unconscious enemy of the Soviet Power"
Mykola Skrypnyk -Ukrainian Bolshevik leader, proponent of the Ukrainian Republics Independance
Employees and public servants (including janitors!) unwilling to learn the newly established "Ukrainian language" or those who did not pass exams in Ukrainian were dismissed without the right to receive unemployment benefits and blacklisted.
The newly-literate Ukrainian peasants migrated to the cities, which became rapidly largely Ukrainianized — in both population and education. Between 1923 and 1933 the Ukrainian proportion of the population of Kharkiv, at the time the capital of Soviet Ukraine, increased from 30% to 50%. Similar increases occurred in other cities, from 27.1% to 42.1% in Kiev, from 16% to 48% in Dnepropetrovsk, from 16% to 48% in Odessa, and from 7% to 31% in Luhansk
By 1931 out of 88 theatres in Ukraine, 66 were Ukrainian, 12 were Jewish (Yiddish) and only 9 were Russian.
The number of Ukrainian newspapers, which almost DID NOT EXIST in 1922, had reached 373 out of 426, while only 3 (!!!) all-republican large newspapers remained Russian. Of 118 magazines, 89 were Ukrainian. Ukrainization of book-publishing reached 83%.
As for other governmental agencies, the Ukrainization policies increased the representation by "Ukrainians" as follows: officers of all-republican People's Commissariat (ministries) - 70-90%, regional executive branches - 50%, counties - 64%, Judiciary - 62%, Militsiya (law enforcement) - 58%. Ukrainian terminology and communication were introduced in the Ukrainian Red Army units.
At the same time, despite the ongoing Soviet-wide anti-religious campaign, the Ukrainian national Orthodox Church was created, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. The Bolshevik government saw it as a tool in their goal to suppress the Russian Orthodox Church, always viewed with great suspicion by the regime for its being the cornerstone of the Russian Empire and the strong opposition it took towards the regime change.
Mykola Skrypnik - the leader of the Ukrainization, proponent of Ukrainian Independence, one of the founding fathers of the Ukrainian Socialist State in 1921 (after Bolsheviks killed the Tzar in 1917 and came to power) was practically the Prime Minister of the new Ukrainian State. He zealously fought for institutionalization of the Ukrainian language and convened International Orthographic Conference in Kharkiv in 1927 with delegates from Soviet (former territories of Russian Empire)
and Western Ukraine (former territories of Austro-Hungarian Galicia). The conference published the first standardized Ukrainian alphabet accepted in all of Ukraine. The Kharkiv orthography, or Skrypnykivka, was officially adopted in 1928.
He worked for the CHEKA (the first name for the Soviet secret police - preceding NKVD and later KGB) during the winter of 1918–19, before becoming the People's Commissar of Ukrainian SSR!
So what are you saying...first the Bolsheviks worked hard to create Ukrainian State and Ukrainian Nation throughout the Ukrainization of the1920's , then all of a sudden Stalin changed his mind and decided to starve Ukrainian Nation to death in 1933?
Oh yeah! And then he changed his mind again after the War and gave Ukraine parts of Poland and Romania, drove the remaining Poles out of Lwow and Galicia and made it Ukrainian. In Lwow only 10% spoke Ukrainian in 1931 , 63.5% Polish and 24% Yiddish.
Stalin also gave Ukraine a permanent seat in the UN(!) in 1945.
@DrMundo74 It's called Imperialist Expansionism. It wasn't for the benefit of Ukrainians. How naive are you, Mundo? Stalin, the great benefactor! Stalin the sun!
@irynski Also I don't understand "Imperialist Expansionism" of Stalin. Why would Uncle Joe and the Communist Government of the USSR made Ukraine one the FOUNDING Nations in the UN? And that is in 1945 when the Red Army took Berlin!
Didn't he want to wipe Ukrainian Nation off from the face of the earth?
@DrMundo74 When? For a couple of years in the 20's? We are not talking about a couple of years of self-determination for various ethnicities early on in the piece, we're talking about the rejection of this in practice whereby Stalinism (which was NOT communism) changed direction to persecution, centralisation & Russification! Certainly Ukrainians were not the only ones to be persecuted: every nation/ethnic SSR group were persecuted. Again, you take academic knowledge & twist it to suit yourself.
@irynski "Self-determination of the Nations" was one of the cornerstones of Leninist Bolshevik doctrine. "Fraternally Peoples" instead of one people that they were before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Do you seriously think that illiterate peasants of Little Russia in a country devastated by Civil War and famine were thinking of how to "self-determine" themselves as "Ukrainians" they never heard of and not how to make sure the cow will survive in winter, etc?
Ukrainization was ENFORCED by Bolsheviks. Why do you think the Bolshevik government issued such measures as a MANDATORY studying of "Ukrainian" and language testing under a threat of being fired? Because everyone was dying to become a "Ukrainian"
"Ukrainization has been and will be enforced with most decisive measures. Whoever does not understand or does not want to understand cannot be considered by the Government anything other than a Counterrevolutionary and conscious or unconscious enemy of the Soviet Power"
And it wasn't just "a couple of years". In 1927 the same Skrypnik organized the Congress on Ukrainian Language as it hasn't been properly codified and institutionalized.
There wasn't even a Ukrainian ALPHABET back then! It was still mostly a spoken peasant dialect of Little Russia and the language of peasants in Polish Galicia - former territories of Austrian Empire.
@DrMundo74 As you know, I object to the term 'Little Russia' because it doesn't reflect the complexity of the reality behind such historical determinations. I have pointed you to an article which DOES reflect on the complexity in Wikipedia. LOOK at the arguments at editorial level. I have also directed you to an article which comprehensively explores the 180% turn in policy under Stalinism. I state, yet again, that the USSR ceased to be an attempt at Marxist Communism early on in the piece.
@DrMundo74 Communism is only viable if it usurps the global Capitalist economic order, contingent on a global revolution which did NOT ensue. Ultimately, the new communist order in Eastern Europe failed and started feeding on itself as if it WERE the entire global community. Revisions of intent in such an insular, cocoon-like world inevitably led to extreme attempts to redefine itself within unrealistic parameters. Individualism & true democratic order became the enemy. This is totalitarianism.
@DrMundo74 Also completely reversed early into Stalinism. Even in the late 1970's, when I went to visit relatives in Ukraine, I tried to buy food at a government shop speaking Ukrainian & was told, "We don't understand dogs language here!", so had to order in Russian. If an Ukrainian wanted a job anywhere other than a Kolhosp they had to speak Russian. I speak from first hand experience so don't try to sell me your lies! Ukrainian was considered 'dogs language' under the policy of Russification.
In Eastern Ukraine (mainly industrial and urban areas) the people speak mostly Russian: Crimea - 97% of the total population Dnipropetrovsk region - 72% Donetsk region - 93% Zaporozhye region - 81% Luhansk region - 89% Mykolaiv region - 66% Odessa region - 85% Kharkiv region - 74%
According to the American Gallup Institute research conducted in 2008 83% preferred to communicate in Russian. In the capital Kiev (traditionally Russian-speaking)
75% at least speaks Russian in everyday life. That is despite all the Ukrainization since Ukraine became a separate country in 1991 ( 20 years ago). Particularly for the past 10 years hundreds of Russian schools were closed. In Kiev there are only 8 Russian schools left out of 400+. No kindergartens!! And yet the overwhelming majority communicates in Russia in Kiev. The people in Eastern Ukraine just don't want to speak Ukrainian "mowa" eventhough it's the ONLY official language in the country!
In the Soviet Union Ukrainian was studied at schools although in the 70s it stopped being mandatory (if the parents would submit a written petition explaining the reason,e.g. lived long time outside Ukraine and even health problems, too busy with sports, etc.
But anyway, why don't you answer my question - I am copying and pasting again:
@DrMundo74 You forgot to note that Ukrainian was studied as a SECOND language in schools & was certainly not mandatory. If one had any hope of a furthering one's education in the Soviet Union, it was imperative that one spoke, read and wrote in Russian! Whose parents were submitting for their children to be excused from Ukrainian language classes? Oh, of course, I almost forgot that there is a large section of Russian colonists living in Ukraine.
Total population of Russian Empire was141 403 900. Among them Russians - 44,3%, Little Russians- 17,8% (there was no such ethnicity as "Ukrainians" back then) ,White Russians - 4,6%. All these ethnic groups were called "Russians". Also 6,3% were Poles, Jews - 4,1% Tatars- 2,97%, Germans -1,42%, Latvians-1,14%, Bashkirs -1,25% , Georgians -1,1%.
@DrMundo74 Approximately 82% of the population were rural & were, ergo, the majority of the 'proletariat' in a rural/agricultural economic structure. Those people spoke what you would term as being 'Ruthenian' & identified themselves as being of a culture which had nothing to do with their overlords (under a Tsarist, Polish or any other concept of order). The ruling classes were purely exploiters - as was everyone who represented the ruling classes. Only the bourgeoisie spoke "Russian".
@DrMundo74 Why are you copying & pasting again? Have a look at most of your 'dialogue' with me. It isn't addressed to me specifically. If you are addressing me, have the courtesy of following the protocol here as a response to one of my comments. If you take a look at this page, it look as if you're having a conversation with yourself... so, don't get abusive about my not answering you when I don't even know it is directed at me!!!
Bolsheviks worked hard to create Ukrainian State and Ukrainian Nation ( Bolshevik Ukrainization in the1920's) then all of a sudden Stalin changed his mind and decided to starve Ukrainian Nation to death in 1933?
@DrMundo74 Thank you for pointing this out. I certainly shows how successful Russification has been. Do you have gallup poll statistics for what nationality these people consider themselves to be (aside from the Russian colonists who I consider to have, of course, every right to be there and be allowed to speak their own language and have Ukrainian as a second language in schools as it is only reasonable that they interact with others in the country they live in in the native tongue)?
The ethnonym "Ukrainian" did not EXIST until the 19th century. "Ukraine" for centuries had a merely GEOGRAPHICAL meaning. Eastern Ukraine was Russian, Western Ukraine was part of Austrian Empire and Poland.
Aftrer Bolshevik Revolution and the Ukrainization of the 20s the people of what was Malorossia (Little Russia) started signing up as "Ukrainians".
@DrMundo74 I have already addressed this. Look at my responses before you start foaming at the mouth. As noted, you have no sense of etiquette. I am courteous enough to read all of your commentary and questions directed at me yet you have obviously not extended the same courtesy in return. Your use of the term 'Malorus' and ethnicity HAVE been addressed:
wiki/Rus_(name)
but you've made your position clear by responding with "bla bla bla bla bla"... as a response.
@DrMundo74 As you know, I live in Australia which is a multi-cultural society. It would be sheer racism & jingoism to expect that ethnic groups should not continue to uphold their own traditions & languages. It is sheer folly for any minority group to refuse to learn the native language of the country they live in. Scotland, Ireland & Wales have reintroduced their native languages in schools because their languages had virtually died out due to Anglicisation. Should they renounce their heritage?
@irynski Yes I know, I know...I figured that out. And you also write your "multi-cultural" remarks peppered with *N* word from your other account Karen41872 pretending to be a 24 year old "filmmaker" from Beverly Hills. We talked about it on other videos. Want me to refer you to them? Let's not go there again.
In Australia people speak English (not Australian) as well as in Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
I think Scottish, Irish and Welsh as well are quite happy communicating in English.
@DrMundo74 This is precisely why I despair of having any kind of dialogue with you. As soon as you feel that you may have difficulties, you retreat into your conspiracy corner & start denouncing me as having various 'identities'. I've never even encountered Karen41872 (or any of the others you have accused me of being in the past). As regards the Scottish, Irish and Welsh, I think it best you ask someone from that ethnic group how they feel about life under the English. Happy is relative term.
@DrMundo74 All I have to say, in all honesty, on the matter of your having decided that I have multiple 'identities' on YouTube is that it is a load of bollocks. I have one account, and one account ONLY. Believe what you want to believe but that is the truth. I have everyday matters (oh, you know, those minor priorities like putting bread and butter on the table) to deal with. In this venue, I express only my own knowledge, opinions and myself. That is all I am: no more and no less.
P.S. Also, stop writing your messages behind my back "in all your sincerity" LOL I have never received this one in my mailbox. Why? Because you write in response to yourself and then type in @DrMundo so it looks like we are having a "dialog". Old trick.
You used it under your other accounts Riaflower and slavicstudies, as well as ukrainianmusicvideo
@DrMundo74 By all means, reveal you email to me! How can I write to someone who has his entire account hidden? One thing is certain: that you invented the 'old tricks'!!! You judge others on your own character. If you're so open to serious discourse, why have you set your account to be unavailable to anyone? I'm sure you'll discover that there are plenty of us more than happy to involve you in serious dialogue 'behind the scenes'! You're a coward who hides in the safety of being uncontactable!
@DrMundo74 Please do. I only have one account: that being the irynski account. If I see simplistic, antagonistic, overtly nationalistic statements like Russian pigs or Bolshevik Jews, etc., I flag them as spam because THOSE are the racist, stupid & dangerous attitudes that truly offend me. Why would I even bother to respond to your statements or questions if I were some sort of nationalistic, religious nutter? I see you as someone armed with knowledge but perverting it with a Russophile agenda.
@irynski watch?v=cD0XZlxKuig&feature=fvst watch?v=fzLtF_PxbYw watch?v=1-i6auAo1jU watch?v=fzLtF_PxbYw to name a few...
It's a well know fact that some of the Ant-Russian trolls have up to 20 YouTube accounts.
As far as "Russian Pigs" - ah, you are so subtle in your Anti-Russian propaganda ...(you think) - like you just wrote "OVERLY NATIONALISTIC statements like Russian pigs or Bolshevik Jews" Should they be NOT so OVERLY??
@DrMundo74 "It's a well know fact that some of the Ant-Russian trolls have up to 20 YouTube accounts." Well known to whom? I would NEVER write such reactionary rubbish. Is it that you are judging me according to your own character? Now I'm wondering how many accounts/identities you truly have. I have 1: the individual you are addressing when you respond to irynski. You're obviously threatened by the notion of my being one identity/individual. What a convenient world you have chosen to live in!
@irynski I agree about DrMundo74.
@MsOKZS Good to meet you! I have read his comments on Russian videos, etc. as I speak both Ukrainian and Russian. I know him well by now. He has spat on the graves of my family, too. DrMundo74 is the worst kind of Russophile and a coward. He tells us that Ukrainians don't exist as a nation/ethnicity. He cites up rubbish as historical fact. I just don't understand how he's managed to keep his account going for so long as he's a despicable fascist. Pryvit z avstralii! Moskali nikoly ne vyhraiut'!
@irynski As regards English as the native tongue, it is because it was overrun by Anglos who brutally destroyed & occupied this country- ergo, by brute colonisation, English became the 'native' tongue. The ethnic group who occupied were native to Ukraine were well established there before Russian colonisation. A very different history indeed. You could be an interesting sparring partner but, until you seek psychiatric help with your paranoia, I have no further interest in communicating with you.
@DrMundo74 From the gallup poll you cite: "Gallup Poll results underscore the prevalence of national language use over Russian; when asked in what language they preferred to conduct the Gallup interview, only respondents in the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus overwhelmingly chose Russian. Ukraine and Kazakhstan retain larger Russian populations."
@DrMundo74 The poll was conducted as a result of "Former president Vladimir Putin decreed 2007 as "The Year of the Russian Language." The declaration was not merely ceremonial -- the number of Russian speakers has declined annually since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Gallup Polls reveal increasingly favorable attitudes toward learning the Russian language in several post-Soviet states, most notably in Georgia, Moldova, and Armenia."
@DrMundo74 "The onset of Stalin’s revolution “from above” from the late 1920s onward signified a major turning point in the nationality policy from pragmatism and flexibility toward stringency and repression. Stalin’s radical policies were accompanied by purges among republican elites to curb any nationalist tendencies and “deviations.” They soon escalated into an all-encompassing wave of terror that peaked in 1936-38. It dealt a crushing blow to the administrative elites in the republics."
@irynski The Famine in the Soviet Union (or "The Great Famine" as it was initially known in the West until in1978 chauvinistic Ukrainian immigrant organizations in Canada and USA did not invent "Holodomor" - "Death by Starvation" which would also look like "Holocaust") indeed broke out in the fall of1932 although the peak of deaths was in spring 1933 (not only in the Ukraine!!) As far as the "red tape" - not going to describe all the communications between Stalin and local Ukrainian
authorities under this stupid video, but Stalin lowered the procurements quotes in the Ukraine when the reports about in hunger were received. Who were the local authorities by the way? Some vicious Russian watchdogs? "Damn Muscovites". They were Ukrainians!
Mykola Skrypnik, nationality – Ukrainian, birth place – Donetsk oblast (Ukraine). Chairman of Gosplan State Planning Committee of Ukraine (1932 – 1933).
Vlas Chubar, nationality –Uukrainian, birth place – Zaporozh`e oblast (Ukraine). Chairman of Sovnarkom (Government) of Ukraine (1923-1934). Signed ruefully famous Resolution “About struggle against sabotage in state grain procurement”.
Stanislav Kosior, nationality – Jew, birth place – Sedlets oblast (Poland), First Secretary of Central Committee of Bolshevik Communist Party of Ukraine (1928 – 1938)
Lazar Kaganovich, nationality – Jew, birth place – Kiev oblast (Ukraine). Secretary of Central Committee of Bolshevik Communist Party of Ukraine (1925 – 1928), Secretary of Central Committee of All-Union Communist Party (1928-1939).
Vsevolod Balitsky, nationality – Ukrainian, birth place – Dnepropetrovsk oblast (Ukraine). In 1932 –OGPU (KGB) special commissioner. Responsible “unconditional fulfillment of state grain procurements” in the Ukraine.
Panas Lybchenko, nationality – Ukrainian, birth place – Kiev oblast (Ukraine).Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of Ukrainian SSR (today's equivalent of prime-minister) from 1934 to 1937
etc,etc.
Joseph Stalin (real name Jugashvili) to begin with was Georgian, NOT Russian birth place – Gori, General Secretary of Central Committee of All-Union Communist Party 1921-1953.
Look, no one denies the Famine of 1932 -33 in the Soviet Union.
But "Genocide of the Ukrainian Nation" is just a monstrous lie.
People died in the Ukraine, in Central Russia, in Volga Region, Kuban, Kazakstan, Ural - ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.
All these attempts to make a "Ukrainian Holocaust" out of it - spread by Ukrainian Natonalists (who helped Hitler exterminate Jews in WWII ) What a sick, twisted PROPAGANDA!
And all this juggling with figures of deaths ( in millions ) is just sickening!
According to experts who studied those "testimonies" from the volumes "compiled" 80% are signed "Анонiмна жiнка", "Анонiмне подружжя", "Анонiмний чоловiк", "Марiя №" - "Anonymous female", "Anonymous man". "Maria №"..
Even Goebbels looked for mass graves and could not find any. I don't want to argue about the estimates of deaths caused by the Famine. Some estimate excessive deaths as 2,5 million in the WHOLE Soviet Union, some much more. (Don't forget of other causes
- in 1932-1933 about 1.2 million cases of typhus and about 500,000 cases of typhoid fever were registered)
The ubigutous"10 millions of innocent Ukrainians" I see all over YouTube!
But, again - The Famine of 1932-33 was all over the USSR!
People of ALL ethnic groups died from the Famine! The way some people speculate on this tragedy trying to make it look like Ukrainians were selectively targeted is disgusting!
@DrMundo74 3 weeks ago you wrote "Look, no one denies the Famine of 1932 -33 in the Soviet Union."
How interesting!!! DIDN'T YOU YOURSELF JUST DENIED EXISTENCE OF FAMINE BY ITSELF IN YOUR COMMENT TO ME ON ANOTHER CHANEL: "I'm not Russian, I'm Ukrainian." This individual twists the information as he pleases with disregard to the truth, documents, witness accounts.
He is the worst type of the human being with no motherland. He is Neo-nazi.
@DrMundo74 Before we pursue this any further, I wish it to be known that I speak on the behalf of truth. I speak on behalf of those who were persecuted for being simple folk who asked no more of life than to be able to have a little piece of land to till and have the right to speak their own language and bring their children up in a world that did not make them someone else's property. Such exploitation was prolific in Russia, Poland, Byelorus & Ukraine. Whose interests do you speak for?
@DrMundo74 I've NEVER used terms like "Russian Pigs" or "Bloody Jews"! I would never use such terms because I don't perceive any ethnic groups in such a disgusting, simplistic manner & agree with you on this matter entirely! I care for humanity & addressing historical concerns in the same way that you appear to do as regards the question of Holodomor. You have, however, made your stance clear as regards 'ethnicity'. You exemplify the stereotypical Russophile, negating any humanitarian ideology.
@DrMundo74 Feel free to Google ALLRUSSIAS - Stalin's "Autonomization" (ALLRUSSIAS com is a Russian site, so you should feel at home there). The Stalinist regime focussed on tossing this ideology aside in favour of persecution and centralisation. I think YOU should sober up and read it!
@DrMundo74 Wrong Take a look at the article in Wikipedia:
wiki/Rus_(name)
It is not as simple as being "Great Russia" & "Little Russia (Malorus)" & you know it! Russia has twisted the naming convention of Rus. Experts analysing the misuse of "Russia" as terminology know far better than do you. The question of ethnicity was clear despite Russophile attempts to claim Byelorus, Zelyona Rus, Malorus, as theirs. Ukraine has been used as a geographical one for the homeland of Ruthenians for centuries.

Why 'holodomor' is bullshit.
1/There were found no graves.

5. haha. Cossack not Ukrainians.

As for Eastern Ukrainians some of very famous marshals of SU Vasilevski, Timoshenko, Rybalko and other were Ukrainians.
tagaphon 2 weeks ago
And another proof. If the famine was really so disastrous and made on purpose, why didn't Eastern Ukrainian cooperated with Hitler? There were plenty of guerrillas in Eastern Ukraine, and very many heroes and marshals of Great Patriotic war were Ukrainians. That were Western Ukrainian who cooperated with Hitler. They started this cooperation against Poland, which occupied Western Ukraine until 1939. Many Western Ukrainian were crueler than Hitler, that's why they escaped to US after ww2.
tagaphon 1 month ago
@tagaphon Many eastern ukrainians fighted in UPA. And not only eastern ukrainians but kuban ukrainians too. Yes its true that in not so big scale that in Western Ukraine but this is because of 1 Level of patriotism (Eastern UKR patriotism was smashed in 32/33 genocide+soviet repressions during more then 20 years+many soviet russian were send to rule ukraine during this time+Eastern part of Ukraine was part of Russian Empire during 200 years)2Geographically was many more difficult fight in plains
victoriskruk 2 weeks ago
Don't let them deceive you. That's easy to check, that Russians and Ukrainians were one nation until 12th century and after 1652 they are together again, they have the same faith, very similar languages, many German and English dialects are more different from each other than Russian and Ukrainians. There is not a single town in Russia where there are no Ukrainians and there are no town or village in Ukraine where there are no Russians.
tagaphon 1 month ago
@tagaphon Where did Ukrainian nationalism come from then? flames of an existant but smashed patriotism, were fanned upon Nazi liberation howbeit shortlived from fascist oppression. Nationalist fervor lay dormant post purges, deportations, and famines. There's no debate as to whether was an autonomous Ukraine identity.
chickenwretch 1 month ago

Just check the population of Ukraine (only 29 mln at that time!!!), the nationalities living in Ukraine (very mixed), the difference between them (nobody can't tell Ukrainian from Russian, even by language), the fact that nobody knew about that until last decade, inspite mlns are said to be starved.

chickenwretch 1 month ago
@chickenwretch Really, Ukraine was never an independent country, until 1991. Ukrainians and russians were one nation during almost 200 years. And before that, it was a part of more than 5 different countrys. So saying that this famine was made artificially against ukrainians, considering that it was in kazakhstan, near Volga, in Syberia and in some parts of Russia, is so god damn stupid, that i don't have enough words to describe it.
TophatFaggot 1 month ago
@TophatFaggot If you would do a more objective research you'd discover there were large Ukranian populations in these other parts of the SU and were targets of famine. It's no secret that Stalin was trying to break the back of Ukrainian nationalism since loosing their wealth wasn't an option.

DrMundo74 7 months ago
Western Ukraine ,e.g. Galicia that has been part of Austria and Poland for centuries is different. The cradle of Ukrainian Nationalists who glorify Stepan Bandera and OUN/UPA - Hitler collaborators during the WWII. They shout the most about "ethnic" genocide but in 1933 they were not even part of USSR and could not be possibly "genocided" by Stalin. That "country" back then was Poland - until 1939.
DrMundo74 7 months ago
@DrMundo74 Western Ukrainians KNEW about it. They were right on the border! They have the right to shout about fellow Ukrainians having been targeted for genocide. Your 'argument' makes absolutely no sense. My family, and so many of those we know, lived in Soviet (Russian occupied) Ukraine & can name so many families who died; so many individuals who died; the circumstances of their death and the stealing of their food supplies that it is emotionally shattering. They WERE THERE! YOU WERE NOT!
irynski 7 months ago

Again, you take academic knowledge & twist it to suit yourself.
irynski 7 months ago
@irynski "Self-determination of the Nations" was one of the cornerstones of Leninist Bolshevik doctrine. "Fraternally Peoples" instead of one people that they were before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Do you seriously think that illiterate peasants of Little Russia in a country devastated by Civil War and famine were thinking of how to "self-determine" themselves as "Ukrainians" they never heard of and not how to make sure the cow will survive in winter, etc?

I state, yet again, that the USSR ceased to be an attempt at Marxist Communism early on in the piece.
irynski 7 months ago
@DrMundo74 Communism is only viable if it usurps the global Capitalist economic order, contingent on a global revolution which did NOT ensue. Ultimately, the new communist order in Eastern Europe failed and started feeding on itself as if it WERE the entire global community. Revisions of intent in such an insular, cocoon-like world inevitably led to extreme attempts to redefine itself within unrealistic parameters. Individualism & true democratic order became the enemy. This is totalitarianism.
irynski 7 months ago

DrMundo74 7 months ago
75% at least speaks Russian in everyday life. That is despite all the Ukrainization since Ukraine became a separate country in 1991 ( 20 years ago). Particularly for the past 10 years hundreds of Russian schools were closed. In Kiev there are only 8 Russian schools left out of 400+. No kindergartens!! And yet the overwhelming majority communicates in Russia in Kiev. The people in Eastern Ukraine just don't want to speak Ukrainian "mowa" eventhough it's the ONLY official language in the country!
DrMundo74 7 months ago
In the Soviet Union Ukrainian was studied at schools although in the 70s it stopped being mandatory (if the parents would submit a written petition explaining the reason,e.g. lived long time outside Ukraine and even health problems, too busy with sports, etc.
But anyway, why don't you answer my question - I am copying and pasting again:

Total population of Russian Empire was141 403 900. Among them Russians - 44,3%, Little Russians- 17,8% (there was no such ethnicity as "Ukrainians" back then) ,White Russians - 4,6%. All these ethnic groups were called "Russians". Also 6,3% were Poles, Jews - 4,1% Tatars- 2,97%, Germans -1,42%, Latvians-1,14%, Bashkirs -1,25% , Georgians -1,1%.
DrMundo74 7 months ago
@DrMundo74 Approximately 82% of the population were rural & were, ergo, the majority of the 'proletariat' in a rural/agricultural economic structure. Those people spoke what you would term as being 'Ruthenian' & identified themselves as being of a culture which had nothing to do with their overlords (under a Tsarist, Polish or any other concept of order). The ruling classes were purely exploiters - as was everyone who represented the ruling classes. Only the bourgeoisie spoke "Russian".

Should they renounce their heritage?
irynski 7 months ago
@irynski Yes I know, I know...I figured that out. @DrMundo74 The poll was conducted as a result of "Former president Vladimir Putin decreed 2007 as "The Year of the Russian Language." But "Genocide of the Ukrainian Nation" is just a monstrous lie.

Yet in 1934 the harvest was good!
And then all these thousands of "witness evidence: "My grandmother who was lucky to survive.."
