  • Babayev brothers are very strong in hook.

  • @josephXarevalo it was a match between them on nemiroff 2006,-86 category, but in my opinion was a deal between brothers..ruslan win but rustan not forced too hard

  • why is Rustam holding such a low grip? Isn't that a disadvantage?

  • yeah it is he is doing that to have a good fightif he dont do this he win easily

  • @xzu He's probably gripping low to make it a bit more even.

  • I think Liliev is a better puller than Denis was at least at the times that Denis faced Brzenk. This year at Zloty, Denis and Pushkar killed each other. Denis beat Arsen inside when Arsen was 187 but it they went with a ready go with Arsen at 209 I think Arsen would flop Denis's wrist back... but maybe Denis could pull him over with a flopped wrist like he did to Pushkar. I think Arsen's a more dangerous opponent than Denis is though. Do you think Brzenk will hook him to win?

  • Thanks, it will be interesting. I have been competing since May 2008 and train very hard, I won the South Dakota State championships left handed in the 0-154lbs. class, the Minnesota State Championships left in the 0-176 lbs. class, and the ROTN medal class right and left 0-165 lbs. class. Who do you think will come out on top between Arsen and John at 209 in March? I originally voted for Arsen but I think if John stops his hit he's got him and I think John's taking Arsen seriously and training

  • Post #4: If Arsen is 205 not 187 and Denis starts with his wrist straight (and not in the strap as they were on the practice table) I would give the edge to Arsen BUT Denis is getting better, too. It would be a good match imo. John and Devon are threats for Arsen as is Dave Randall imo, Dave's fast and his wrists are insanely strong, if he gets Arsen inside which he very well may I would give the edge to Dave, but he isn't very active anymore Pushkar may beat Arsen inside but won't get there jmo

  • I posted twice just now about Arsen vs. Rustam, it could very well come down to who has more endurance imho. Also Rustam beat Arsen twice after the 2008 Worlds, then Arsen beat him but his elbow was clearly off the pad. Arsen was about 205 when he beat Travis and it's impressive but Travis is weak now (compared to normal), John went through him easily at ROTN and 4 weeks later Rustam gave John a match. Denis's wrist was not straight when he pulled Arsen and Arsen was 187.

  • Inside, Rustam and Arsen will be close for sure. At Russian nationals this year in the overall, Arsen (at 187) went inside with Zoloev and it was a war but in the end Zoloev won. Then they went again and Arsen flashed him with a toproll, but Rustam's wrists are waaaay stronger than Zoloev's so I doubt Arsen would get him outside like I said before. Zoloev and Rustam pulled after 2008 Worlds and Zoloev won in a war. But Rustam was 176 not 190. and with a ready go, Rustam's fast so may beat Zoloev

  • I pick Rustam over Arsen at 190 in a WAR. I could be wrong if Arsen has more endurance than Rustam. But I believe the match would go inside. John Brzenk had a very hard time toprolling Rustam in their first match (the one where Rustam's elbow got pulled off the front of the pad). Arsen at 190 isn't as strong as John at 209, I don't think he'd be able to keep Rustam out of his hook. Arsen jumped from 165 to 187 just like so many others, skipping the 176 lbs. class for fear of Rustam. (continued)

  • just fyi Arsen flashed Ruslan right handed at 187 lbs. at the 2008 World Championships, Dec. 2008. Not saying you were wrong about anything just fyi. How do you think a match would go between Arsen and Rustam at 187 or 189 lbs.?

  • Yeah Rustam pulls 176 at Worlds and Ruslan pulls 187 but Rustam would beat him for sure. Think about these comparisons: Arsen Liliev at 171 beat Ruslan at 189 with difficulty (2007 Zloty). Arsen at 171 beat Ion at 209 without a lot of trouble but Ion stopped his hit. I would assume Ruslan at 189 would beat Ion at 209 with a lot of trouble. But Rustam at 189 flashed Ion at 209 (2009 Zloty). Of course styles make matches and Ion and/or Ruslan could have gotten better from 07 to 09 or been tired.

  • Rustam is much stronger.

  • Rustam is gripping Roman very low (around Roman's wrist) to give Roman an advantage... Roman's elbow is off the front off the pad.. and Rustam still wins. These guys are both top 5 in the World pound for pound though.
