I'm not quite sure about Cebuanos but in Mindanao "Diin" is a word most young kids won't say. They usually use the word "asa"
As "taga asa ka?"
Bisaya (cebuano), has many regional differences. "Diin" in cebu would have a different word in Iligan, CdeO and especially Bohol. Take the CdeO word "choi" for example, meaning "cool", is "nindot" in pagadian and "chada" in Bukidnon.
Do you have people to practice with? I've downloaded some info. online, but that seems to be the only source of learning Cebuano. I went through S. Fernando on my way to my grandmother's town of Argao. I have yet to learn to speak some phrases by heart.
big props to you carnal. a salvadoreno ug cebuano trying to speak the dialect. proud of you. must be nice eating pupusas con cordeto and pancit at the same time. i'm cebuano and married to a mexicana.

kung ganahan jud ka maka tuon ug binisaya, kinahanglan ka mo pauli sa cebu. its like the only way.

But that doesn't really matter. If you know the language you could get used to understanding those regional differences.
Just don't get surprised while trying to learn the language that people will teach you different words for one meaning.
BTW, your bisaya is good enough.

"Taga diin man ka?"
Now that is pure cebuano man.
