Marduk rules if you want brutality, Burzum is ambient and SO deep, Kampfar are really okay too (pagan stuff). Aura Noir are more into thrash/ black stuff and it's great if you like that. French bands Blut aus Nord and Pensées Nocturnes are awesome if you're looking for strange stuff. Visit the blog named Into thy Woods and you will find lots of bands. \m/

You can't compare black metal to CoB. Immortal is pure bm, CoB is more like a death popish band(dumb, i know). Immortal is probably one of the few bands that stayed authentic and faithful to what it is. Plenty of them have just included tons of stuff and changed a lot. A clear example is Dimmu, which isn't what it used to be on those good old stormblast/EDT days. I still like them, but not as much as before. Ever heard someone like Abbath? The guy is an institution as well as the riff master.
