I ride both i have a kx250 and a crf230 even though the kx majorly whoops the 230 in horsepower i have no doubt that the 4 strokes are better they sound better they ride smoother they have better gas mileage and a much wider powerband, what it basically boils down to is the bad riders will find the 2 strokes are better because they're lighter and slightly easier to ride than a 4 stroke but good riders know that nothing beats the right 4 stroke because only a good rider can ride a 4 stroke *right
@Funnyguy5432 Dude i agree! I have a yz250 and a yz250f. the 250f is bare bone stock other than cammed and after market carb it definitively is better than the yz. yz250 handled a but better but the 250f is a smother ride and more acceleration and top speeed then the yz, and for every 1 time i blow up my 250f i blow up the yz 3 times, the 250f can take way more shit than a 2 stroke.
@Mr440exer obviously you dont have a yz 250f and a yz 250 because first off the 250f had a horrbile power rating and the 250 ( 2 stroke is excellant alot more power especially in acceleration maybe around the same top speed but there is no way a four choke is faster accelerating than a 2 never will they be
@kx250braap YOUR A RETARD! i have a 03 yz250, and a 02 yz250f and the yz250f has over all better power, it has an over rev that lets it hit 13,000 rpm, 2 smoker junk will do 9,000. and also its your opinion if u like a 2 or 4 stroke, and im getting ready to sell the yz250 because iv blown it up 3 times, and my 250f has been rubilt 1 time, there money holes, i'm not paying 8.99 for a quart of yamalube and 3.85 a gallon of gas plus to rebuild it every 25 hours your crazy! and thts why pros ride 4
@Funnyguy5432 ha ha you obviously dont ride very good because the 4 strokes are the lazy mans bike they are very easy to ride due to their power band and a 2 stroke snaps in basically at one time which causes it to be alot harder to ride and takes actual skill so learn some shit
heres a tip. your not justin barcia. he can rev the shit out of the bike cause when he blows his up, he gets a new motor for nothing, you have to pay for the rebuild.... the point of the matter is shit the fuck up!@!!!!
lol i hate how people say "oh get a 2 stroke" im like "fuck no i do better on a 4 stroke" "2 stroke costs less to take care of" "well a 2 stroke sent me to the hospital twice and once shifted into nuetral while i was in 3rd" lol just saying there are some bad things about 2 strokes
@MxRider721 haha bro sry but ive been working on my rm alot and have been riding 2 strokes my whole life i know what the difference is. ive worked on my rm alot more than my sxf
@jacksonbax Yeah #1 Yamaha #2 Honda #3 Kawasaki #4 Suzuki #5 KTM Some people say that KTMs are reliable but I'm not buying it after my old one blew up twice and I was maintaining it properly.
@Ridehonda929 yea but kx450f blow up was caused by a fault in the piston that allowed air to be trapped at the top when the piston completed its cycle, i think they fixed it?? No sure
@HoopsProductions123 no the only time your ment to rev it in the air is when your front wheel is to low. you are supposed to rev it just before you land so that its not that hard of a landing but thats it . if you continuously rev it in the air it will destroy up your clutch.
@MxRider721 they blow up just as much four strokes, if not more.... lol ive had a cr85 and a kx 125. rebuilt the 85 2x and the 125 honestly like 5 of 6x.. but my yz250f only once, and my yz450f ive nvr had to rebuild it! trust me, i PINNED all these bikes. 4 strokes are just less primative, and more reliable if taken care of properly. and in the right hands can domminate and two stroke, EVEN the cr/kx 500. i like both 2 and 4 strokes. but 4's just take the cake..

@MxRider721 Yes and you're also comparing a 250 four stroke with a 250 two stroke. You would never compare a ttr125 with a yz125. They are completely different bikes. Try a 450 vs a 250 two stroke. Wait so you are saying it's unfair to compare a 250cc two stroke to a 250cc four stroke? Then you say a four stroke is better? Lol you're just like every drone out there believing whatever he hears from the AMA.. Face it, two strokes are straight up better. If you have to race a 250cc two stroke against a 450cc four stroke that makes the two stroke a better bike. Get it? And there is no need to be a dick about it and act all bad ass saying you'd beat me.
@MxRider721 Four strokes are better bikes, hands down. How many pros do you see on two strokes? If a two stroke is that much better than wouldnt you see more pros racing them? and just because the engine has to be more cubic centimeters on a four stroke doesnt mean its worse than a two stroke. the fastest two stroke youre going to find at the track wont touch a 450. no matter what you do to it. and if you argue with that than youre clearly more ignorant than i thought, and not worth my time.
I'm glad you brought up professional riders... You think they choose what they ride? No. Test riders for MXA dont even choose what they ride on their weekends off. Besides, we are not pros. Pro racing is an advertisement. Pro's are made to advertise four strokes. You dont think a 500cc two stroke could beat a 450? I'm not the ignorant one here. I used to love four strokes, but I'm not a big fan of being a pawn to the industry. I'll ride a faster, cheaper bike
@MxRider721 Yes...because 500 two strokes are pretty abundant at the motocross track. Ive been racing for 7 years and i've never seen one. That was a decent try though.
A 500cc two stroke would straight up murder a 450cc four stroke. No argument. The reason they dont race them anymore is because they are simply too fast and powerful. See what I'm getting at?
Okay my point is... Two stroke or four stroke I dont care what you ride, whatever floats your boat, but people who keep saying four strokes are better are simply wrong. A heavier, over priced, lazy power curve, underpowered bike will never be better than a lighter, cheaper, faster bike.
@labossiereracing wow your dumb. the reason pros dont ride a 2 stroke is because their not allowed cause of ama rules. and a 2 stroke will keep up with a 4 stroke. and 4 strokes are tripple the money in maintents
@tomanddakota Are you fucking stupid?, Your aloud to race a 2 stroke in pro's there is not a thing in the ama sayying you can't race a 2 stroke in the nationals or supercross, Go read the hand book you douche.
@MxRider721 its a difference is stroke time of the engine. 4 strokes have double the stroke time hence they are quieter, so need more cc's to match the equivalent power of a two stroke which strokes faster. so one is not "hands down better", its a difference in engine type. try to understand something before making an argument about it
Thanks man but I have understood both engine types for a long time now. Four strokes are only quieter up close, their sound echoes much much farther than a two stroke, hence tracks getting shut down for noise complaints. And IMHO, for motocross racing, the two stroke engine IS hands down better.
@MxRider721 its just personal preference. I prefer four strokes because of the rider friendly way they feel and how forgiving they are with a smoother broader powerband
@MxRider721 jesus christ are you on steroids or something? I just said its personal preference and gave a reason why for me. All youve done is just assert your opinion in a really aggressive way without giving the slightest reasoning. I can only assume you just jumped on the "2 STROKES ARE BETTER THAN 4 STROKES" ten year old bandwagon...
@shortyjk95 hell yeah bro its usually a big mushroom cloud when that shit blows, he got lucky with this one. I've had one blow that measured 3 megatons on the nuclear bomb scale
If 4 strokes are so much more powerful than two strokes why were the two strokes limited to 125cc in the lights class? Get rid of ALL variable displacement limits in all classes. 250s against 240s. 450s against 450s.
Racing will be a dying sport if the costs to field a bike are not pulled back from the stratosphere. 4T rebuilds are killing the sport. Just count the number of tracks around now versus 10 (or 20 or 30) years ago.
@4wheeler1002 u can tell around the 1:00 mark. my 2009 kxf did the same thing i was racing and every timei hit a jump it acts like i hit the break and front end wants to dive, and it just dont seem right
@RedneckRIdersofPA yeah i ride my friends rm sometimes and when it fouls a plug it bogs out really bad. ive never had anything blow up on me before though
@69mrjkjkjk the suzuki and kawis have been identical for years and are still very similar. They teamed up back in like 03 or 04 and started producing identical bikes but with both companies spending all of their R&D dollars together to compete with bigger honda and yamaha...
Bottom end! Brap! i done many of them! change oil filter every time and yeah!
PS. 2 strokes u just run them. no taking care of them. 4 strokes check valves every 4 hrs piston every 10 and crank every 20 also on every tear down u need to replace the timing chain. haha. and make sure ur valve seats are good!
@bledikslt You got that completely backwards buddy. 4 strokes will give you more power across the board (4 cycles are better than 2) And 4 stroke engines aren't as durable. Eventually, they'll blow up which will lead to a costly rebuild. 2 strokes will give you less power, and you can pin it to win it. That's where they give the most power at max RPM. Riding a 2 stroke on the edge of blowing it up won't do near as much damage as with a 4 stroke.
@bledikslt piston and rings once year at the most and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to put one in 120$ with a good oil mix a 2stroke will run forever dependind on riding style.
it is bad luck bro i blew my 85 up over a table guess my dad never checked the collent blew the head and melted the piston and did some other stuff...it sucks
@crimson22s you buy a four stroke if you want to win you buy a 2 stroke if you want to remember the old times. 4 strokes have so much more power your shitty 2 stroke cant even hang
@xxbryan715xx most ignorant statement ive ever heard.... 2 strokes have over twice the power at equal displacements. my 125 still spanks the 250's so its fine with me
@crimson22s lol just watch some holeshot videos on youtube. try to hit loraccos leep on a 125. biggest and hardest jump in motocross and i do it on a 250f in 4th gear. to do that takes a 40 yard run up. it took mike loracco a 200 yard head start to do it. it is a known face 4 strokes have more horsepower than 2's

tomanddakota 4 days ago
@tomanddakota Are you fucking stupid?, Your aloud to race a 2 stroke in pro's there is not a thing in the ama sayying you can't race a 2 stroke in the nationals or supercross, Go read the hand book you douche.
AlexLewisnumber23 4 days ago
@AlexLewisnumber23 ama rules as in the displacement rules.
tomanddakota 4 days ago
@MxRider721 its a difference is stroke time of the engine. 4 strokes have double the stroke time hence they are quieter, so need more cc's to match the equivalent power of a two stroke which strokes faster. so one is not "hands down better", its a difference in engine type. try to understand something before making an argument about it
ANSANDAND 2 days ago
@ANSANDAND
Thanks man but I have understood both engine types for a long time now. Four strokes are only quieter up close, their sound echoes much much farther than a two stroke, hence tracks getting shut down for noise complaints. And IMHO, for motocross racing, the two stroke engine IS hands down better.
MxRider721 2 days ago
@MxRider721 its just personal preference. I prefer four strokes because of the rider friendly way they feel and how forgiving they are with a smoother broader powerband
ANSANDAND 2 days ago
@ANSANDAND
Motocross shouldn't be THAT easy. Screw all the "forgiving" BS. Why don't we also add traction control and ABS?
MxRider721 1 day ago
@MxRider721 jesus christ are you on steroids or something? I just said its personal preference and gave a reason why for me. All youve done is just assert your opinion in a really aggressive way without giving the slightest reasoning. I can only assume you just jumped on the "2 STROKES ARE BETTER THAN 4 STROKES" ten year old bandwagon...

@ANSANDAND
No, I was having a bad day. But hey, I never insulted you.

suzuki's from 07 to 09 seem to be bad for going pop, usually an oil strainer blocks in the bottom end and seizes the big end up :/

ok this is prob a dumb question but when you blow up an engine 2 or 4 stroke what does it mean??? literally the motor blew or what???
shortyjk95 2 months ago
@shortyjk95 no it means your piston or your rings are just worn and it losses compression
oSHOLLIVERo 2 months ago

@69mrjkjkjk I did. haha check out the vids of the new 350!
labossiereracing 2 months ago 21
@69mrjkjkjk the suzuki and kawis have been identical for years and are still very similar. They teamed up back in like 03 or 04 and started producing identical bikes but with both companies spending all of their R&D dollars together to compete with bigger honda and yamaha...

@69mrjkjkjk Ya mean honda or KTM cuz maybe if ya havnt seen it go to KX450F blow up lol.

Bottom end! Brap! i done many of them! change oil filter every time and yeah!
PS. 2 strokes u just run them. no taking care of them. 4 strokes check valves every 4 hrs piston every 10 and crank every 20 also on every tear down u need to replace the timing chain. haha. and make sure ur valve seats are good!
bled! no idea

Jakesabeast1 6 months ago
2 stroke have more power, but engines aren't durable. 4 stroke, less power, but engine is more durable and takes less time to take care.
bledikslt 6 months ago
@bledikslt You got that completely backwards buddy. 4 strokes will give you more power across the board (4 cycles are better than 2) And 4 stroke engines aren't as durable. Eventually, they'll blow up which will lead to a costly rebuild. 2 strokes will give you less power, and you can pin it to win it. That's where they give the most power at max RPM. Riding a 2 stroke on the edge of blowing it up won't do near as much damage as with a 4 stroke.
monster271 6 months ago
@monster271 yea your right. his way was backwards
roudyroy1 3 months ago
@bledikslt piston and rings once year at the most and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to put one in 120$ with a good oil mix a 2stroke will run forever dependind on riding style.

it is bad luck bro i blew my 85 up over a table guess my dad never checked the collent blew the head and melted the piston and did some other stuff...it sucks
tazerdude 7 months ago
and thats why you dont buy a 4 stroke lol sucks dude
crimson22s 7 months ago
@crimson22s you buy a four stroke if you want to win you buy a 2 stroke if you want to remember the old times. 4 strokes have so much more power your shitty 2 stroke cant even hang
xxbryan715xx 7 months ago
@xxbryan715xx most ignorant statement ive ever heard.... 2 strokes have over twice the power at equal displacements. my 125 still spanks the 250's so its fine with me
crimson22s 7 months ago
@crimson22s lol just watch some holeshot videos on youtube. try to hit loraccos leep on a 125. biggest and hardest jump in motocross and i do it on a 250f in 4th gear. to do that takes a 40 yard run up. it took mike loracco a 200 yard head start to do it. it is a known face 4 strokes have more horsepower than 2's
xxbryan715xx 7 months ago
dude i blew my bike up in the same spot
