When a commercial vehicle operator breaks the law, is caught with an unsafe vehicle or is using their cell phone while driving, then not only should they be given a citation by the police but the information be passed to Worker's Compensation for a further penalty. Worker's Compensation need to get more involved where poor driving by commercial vehicle operators are involved. Cell phone usage while driving needs to be banned completely.

Obviously you are oblivious to the corruption at workers comp, I am a commercial truck driver who was returned to work driving a semi-truck on morphine, oxycontin, muscle relaxants, and other meds that caused me to become fuzzy and disorientated, workers comp denied me any medical help for my injuries,

WCB corrupt? Of course they are. I was a union worker for 23 years and heard nothing but horror stories from my co-workers about their crappy shenanigans.

However, when it comes to truck drivers using their cell phones while operating stick shift vehicles they owe the public 100% attentiveness. The roads and highways are their workplace and you wouldn't get away with using a cell in a warehouse or retail business. Sorry for picking on truckers and cabbies but safety is first and foremost.

It is so obvious for me that the WC law was passed only ONLY to put a cap on how much a worker can get from an employer. The truth is that a worker usually gets injured FOR LIFE in a serious, legitimate work accident, so that's serious money (that will never be given under this law). On the other hand, the law made it possible for lying workers to get an extended VACATION at the expense of the workers that really need the money. Just like life, you can never win, the f... box of chocolates.

But hell they (insurance companies) lie and cheat, send you to an IME (indenpendent Med. Examiner) that THEY pay 1500.00 to play down your injury to deny treatment. I have been through this WC bullshit (EXCUSE MY ANGER) you're talking about. I made it out sane, thank God, but in constant pain. It was a joke!!! My life was a joke for my employer, my IME and everybody else. I don't wish what happened to me on anyone. I just saw a lawyer and he wants 300 per hr, my claim file is so large it would cost $30,000 just to read all the BS that workers comp has written about me.

My medical file is 1 inch thick,

However my workers comp file is over 5 feet high, and is filled with, he said, she said, they said; and whatever I said doesn't matter;

2 spinal injuries and 2 shoulder injuries and have received 1 shoulder operation and about 300 prescriptions that have caused me very disturbing side effects;

In Canada when you are injured you are thrust into the Canadian Health System. Everybody thinks the Canadian Medical System is good, "REALITY" is that the Canadian Medical System is Horrible, Canadian Doctors are afraid of Workers Compensation Boards who make their lives miserable and can cost them their MEDICAL LICENSE/PRACTICE if they actually try to help Canadians that are injured, Dr Kuntz, and other Doctors have had their license to practice suspended. The Canadian Government allows this.

Case managers at compensation boards override PHYSICIANS DIAGNOSE of injury without any medical degree. Thank you. I was the one who asked the question (but I'm not a student at WVU). One thing that surprised me was that nobody from the Nader campaign screened the questions before they were asked. People were given an opportunity to walk up and ask whatever they wanted to ask. That gives a chance for citizens to ask questions that the media doesn't. I went to an Elizabeth Edwards town hall meeting in 2004 in which several people raised their hands to ask questions, but only a few were chosen.
