At any rate, the wheel and axel was not obvious to Pre Columbians. I'm not sure when the relationship with electrical and magnetic forces became known. Some of these things are difficult to surmise. Consider how difficult it is to show that gravity bends light. We can observe things like black holes.

There was one observation that was done of starlight being altered somewhat by the sun during a full eclipse. For me that is anecdotal. That is very difficult to observe as are black hole phenomena with light. i am also interested in hierarchical self perpetuation phenomena and how it will commit atrocities of logic to establish and retain order while not paying attention to what's happening. Usually there is an example du jour but it is perpetually there in all human activity.
