My comment is about as trivial is you can get, but... it 's "Thanks, Mal" speaking to Mal Evans, their faithful assistant. ln the movie "Help!", when the guy pops his head up through the 'ice and asks "Excuse me, White Cliffs of Dover?" That's Mal. Among other things he did, the 'bang, bang' on the anvil in Maxwell's Silver Hammer is played by Mal.
@arrseearr Actually, no. It's Paul saying "Thanks, Mo!" in reference to Maureen Starkey's (Ringo's wife) cheering after the performance. Many different outlets have confirmed this. She was up on the roof watching with Yoko and others. Fun fact: the red raincoat Ringo wears was actually Maureen's, which he borrowed for the concert.
OMG I had wished my entire life i could isolate that solo so i could really hear what i have been doing wrong. I could listen to that solo 1000 more times and never get tired of hearing it!!! It is just amazing........
That's a funny basstrack. I've always watched Paul's fingers on the video, and I never understood what he was doing. By the way - it seems like the Höfner is a bit out of tune here - is it a little sharp? I've also heard that he used Rotosounds "tru bass" nylon strings on this particular gig. Anyone who knows for sure?
@IamMagPie You are correct. Paul had Rotosound Tru Bass strings on his Hofner for Let It Be. You can see the black strings in movie, His bass is out of tune on some of the tracks and personally I think the strings could be to blame. I had these strings on my bass for a while and the intonation was way off.
saw them twice in concert - pauls is the cooest ever on this vid

@bauersnarky In fact, on the Remaster you can very clearly make out the enthusiastic cheer that prompts the comment :)

The cool thing about the bass being out of tune, is hr hit dome really deep chords. Dig A Pony is a prime example. He really hits hard on that one
Also his original bass the Hofner ifrst gen was stolen during the taping of Let It Be

@IamMagPie hofner was out of tune according to mccartney. There's a certain charm in it being slightly sharp or what have you.

Billy Preston also did "Slaughter", also known as the theme song for Hugo Stiglitz, for the movie Inglourious Basterds.

For his work with Ray Charles, the Beatles, the Stones and his many solo hits, why is this man not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame????
