alright umm i don't know if you are doing this already but a good way to nail the chainsaw is to go into liike a shed and always stand up. just do a joy yell like you are riding kingda ka, then tighten up your abdomen like you are doing situps, and tighten your throat a LITTLE.
Dude, you are amazing. This is so awesome, it helped me so much to learn all these different types of screaming. Plus, you introduced me to some new bands! Thanks!
nonono... he means like Layne Staley from alice in chains. Dude: you have to be an awsome singer first, and then you learn all sorts of tones and distortions if you want to... but really its singing in essence.
Ok, Howard Jones does NOT do stupid loophole shit like that. If you want to learn how to do real growling and screaming, take a look at my page, and watch the video I've put up. Hope it Helps. :)
Hey man. I posted earlier saying that this video was kick ass. It helps alot. But could you maybe post how to scream like MAtt Heafy from Trivium? Or the singer from Bullet? Thanks.
you should try screaming with your full voice, not the girly falsetto voice, it is much louder and will not harm your voice when it is done right.
try singing one note in your normal singing voice, push that note a lil harder till it feels like your yelling a bit (but not so it hurts), then add the raspy (gravel) to your singing note... a much better, more professional sound will be produced.
G'day mate. I myself use 'full voice' screaming in some songs. But all the hype of screaming wrecking your voice is about this type of screaming. It has a large effect on falsetto chords. try going into falsetto after screaming for a while you might see what i mean. this form of screaming will have an effect on your voice. if you don't do it often your vocal chords will heal. but repeated abuse of the chords will result in a build up of scar tissue and you can get nodules.
In conclusion, if you want to be the best vocalist, knowing how to use all these vocal techniques, instead of just a single, is definitely your answer. An example of a vocalist who uses all of these techniques very well is the lead vocalist of All That Remains.
the screams you have done on this video have started with a falsetto and then you distort is using different parts in your throat. giving you a rasp or a flemy scream. the only thing wrong with these screams is:
1) you often cant turn singing into a scream gradually, its either a scream or singing.
2) it can be too quiet, and can leave your throat irritated.
WoW!!! That really helped i have watched alot of vids. And yours was by far the best i have watched. I went out and bought the zen of screaming the other day. And it def helps alot.
Yo man, thanks for all these helpful tips. But I have one question for you. Can you post another video explainging how to scream like Matt Heafy from Trivium? I would really appreciate that. Thanks
if there is anything that has left you asking alot of questions and you think requires more explaining please let me know so that i can remake the video and add extra detail.
ey dude. Thanks all for the comments :-D as for how loud... give it enough 'dump' or push out enough air to get your desired sound. it doesn't have to be as loud as you can. remember, we vocalists have a microphone to do the amplification for us, like a guitar. though there's nothing wrong with making it real loud. Rock on peeps!
what a cool video bro! youre good. i get so tired of everyone on youtube screaming the same way. i thought about doing the same thing you did, except you know a few more ways that i havent got yet. ive got some learnin to do!! thanks alot man!
Can you please tell us how to do James Hetfield's distortion from '80s-'90s? And how the hell do you use it on high notes like he did?!
