I can't fathom why JPJ went from the best bass tone in the history of popular music, to that foul-sounding Alembic. It sounds like he's opened up a piano and he's hacking away on the strings.
Before you all get butthurt, know that I think him and Jamerson were the 2 best bass players that have ever touched that instrument.
It's just like 1969 all over again but 12 years later....they're still hungry, still tight, still all-powerful, still insanely brave.....but without the naivety of youth and a lot more life experience. I personally believe this band had another 10 solid years in them. But at the same time, it now seems like destiny that they went out when they did - on top and in the highest esteem. Brilliant band.
If you want to see and hear the original rock guitarist that played the distortion licks on this song 1956.(covered by this group and others).Search-Paul Burlison..Go down to-Rock and Roll Trio-Part Three..second song..then go to the original cut in 1956..Johnny Burnette..Train Kept Rollin
AEROSMITH SUCKS DONKEY COCKS!!!!! GET OVER IT YOU TASTELESS BASTARDS!!!!! AEROSMITH ISN"T EVEN IN THE BALL PARK AS LED ZEPPELIN!!!!! AEROSMITH IS A"WATERED DOWN" AMERICAN BULLSHIT VERSION OF GREAT ENGLISH BANDS WHO REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!! THEY SUCK AND SO DO YOU LOSERS!!!!!!
Aerosmith fucking blows!!!!!! Get real. They were a watered down, crappy American version of the Stones and/or Zepp. You can velvet or velvetine.......
@derelict74 watered down my ass, just cuz they weren't as "good" does not mean watered down, they had all the intensity, if not more than Led Zeppelin
@jitk1 yea ik it was written by a guy with the first name tiny, Aerosmith opened up the las vegas concert july 31st i went to Aerosmith made this song great
Everyone calm your shits. Both Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin are great bands. Led Zeppelin is #1 for me and Aerosmith is #4 for me in my top bands. Anyways, what matters is that the members of Aerosmith absolutely love Led Zeppelin and pulled a lot of their influence from them. You can even hear it in their songs. The bands or members of each band have also played together on numerous occasions and respect each other. Both bands are amazing in their own right and neither should be disrepected.
Yeah, seeing as Led Zeppelin waas voted number one out of thousands of bands and musicians across time and space... THey are number one. And always will be. Know why? Because everything they touched they didnt have to sell out to get. How many bands sold out just to get superstar status?? Alot. Led Zeppelin had their own label just to do what the fuck they felt like doing. That is what a true rockstar is made of.
The version recorded on this tour in Brussels was kick-ass a little heavier for some reason. At any rate, they blow Aerosmith's away any day of the Goddamned week!
I remember back in the early 90's I actually heard this played on a local phoenix az radio station. I think it was 93.3 KDKB. It was Zeptember promo or something, playing blocks of Zep songs every hour or something. The DJ said it was from the BBC 1969, but I knew better.
btw, it wasn't the accuracy of his live playing, but rather his composing. Plus, if he was not so sloppy, those riffs he was playing would just sound like any other band. The sloppyness adds dimension.
Yeah I agree that his composing was incredibly gifted...I was just stuck in that (who's the best "guitarist" mode)....musically I do think Bonhams power thud was pretty unique and he'd would definitely bring anyone up a notch....laters
dude, this band was a ballance of four seriously talented musicians... yes bonham kicked ass but each member brought a dynamic that when blended made for some timeless shit!

Sloppy...Heartbreaker solo may not be fast as Vai's...But I wanna see Vai playing it in perfection like Jimmy.
I wanna see Vai create better RIFFS than Jimmy...anyway...im not gonna argue...cause Stairway to Heaven have the best solo ever made, chosen by MANY guitar magazines...plus, u dont know shit about music ;)

I'm pretty sure you're off with the date. Zeppelin wasn't even around in the 80's. They broke up in 79'.

@1YearOff1 No the date is right. They broke up in 1980 after Bonhams death, not 1979. Also, they broke this song out for the 1980 Over Europe tour.
