Och nach eil seo direach sgoinneil!! We were just talking about reviving this tradition in our area of the West Highlands, today! Great playing on the small pipes too! Moran, moran taing!
is there any peat cutters out there that can do with some extra labour?,im from belfast an can travel ,im married with clan and hard working,43yrold.worked in construction most of my life ,i have always wanted to try cuttin a few sods,no machines ,by hand only, please get in touch ,many thx gerard
I carnt wait till I cut peat with my old man! New season nearly here, shame about the weather right now but it should keep off the midges! Our Caba-lar and the Torr-sgian need a sharpen. Me and pops are the only peat cutters on the Isle Of Arran now, there was loads at one time. Great video and nice sounding pipes.
@shanecronogue I was gonna say, that looks like a back breaker! I wont be cuttin peat for a while! Id like to see a peat fire. Do we have bogs in the U.S.? Thx for upload
Hi, can somone tell me do you need to pay for a turf plot in dublin mountains/ featherbed or can you just dig it, and where and whom do i pay if i need to. Thanks
Neil, my daughter is 4 and loves your pipes...asks me to play your video every weekend. Amazing the way this was cut years ago. Thanks for demonstrating. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada.
Thanks for your comment. I should like to see yr peat cutting. Neil Cameron plays the bagpipes and it is him playing ' Jenny tie your ribbons tight'Maybe he is better at that than cutting peat!
dunno what this is but its not turf cutting. you should have seen the way it was done in the midlands up to twenty years ago. wing slanes and breast slanes. you could put a spirit level on the bank and the bubble wouldn't move. its a dead trade now. duncan stewart and john gormly and the rest of the left wing tree huggers have destroyed a way of life
That looks like ridiculously hard work.
