funny how people are comparing the looks rather than the functions and capabilities of each aircraft. Worse, people are actually comparing Apple products with aircrafts. :/
the 747-800 isnt going anyware...More airlines will order them in the future. The A380 doesnt look like crap..Its a new design aircraft and it looks sharp..
I hope to fly this one day. Really hoping the airline I work for upgrades to this. Currently fly the 747-4. And I can say that the only other aircraft that might be better than that could be the 747-8. :)
@N330AA Im sure BA will buy some 747-8. BA is the airline with the biggest 747 fleet that means many BA 747 pilots. BA ordered 25 A380's but im sure that after LH makes his first 747-8i flight many ex 747-400 airlines will be buying new 747-8. it easier to pass from a 747-400 to a 747-8 than 747-400 to A380.
@kekecom Almost no chance of BA getting the 748I. Sorry. Airlines can't justify introducing the new fleet type for an outdated aircraft. The 773ER and A380 and going forward the A350 have killed it.
@N330AA are you saying that the 747-8 is an outdated aircraft??... i don't think so. the 747-8 is a big fuel effency aircraft. What i hate is that all airlines are buying these ugly shit aircrafts (a380, 787, a350). The 747's are beautifull aircrafts and i LOVE Lufthansa to buy 20 -8 over 16 a380's.
@kekecom Actually the 787, 767, 777, 757, 727, 707, 737, 747, A300, A320, A330, and the A340 are all fairly good looking aircraft. My personal favorites are the A330, A300, 747, 757, 727, and 707.
But I agree, the A350 and the A380 are ugly as shit. Airbus needs to go back to the drawing board and try to utilize the classic A300 design that they used for the A330 and A340. "It's as much aesthetics as it is functionality", to quote the late Steve Jobs.
@kekecom I agree it's a good looking aircraft. It is ultimately an outdated airframe though. That's why it's not selling very well. Airlines are in the business to make money and not to serve plane spotters.
@mathur63 You're an idiot. No offense. Those are flight analysis computers that analyze aircraft parameters and performance. It's pretty clear that they aren't IFE systems as soon as you see them; note the vested Boeing technicians and the large towers that the computers are housed in.
. How does the HUGE "vapor" trails, come out the tail section? I look with binoc's and can clearly SEE it coming out the tail section, I'm just curious about the phenominon. I understand all the "contrail" dynamics, commercial airlines don't spray, because the scheduals are random. It's military, but its even in china. The world is being juiced, WHY?
My dream is just to fly anything, actually i already can fly Cessna 172 but now i want to level up until i reach the jets. Next step is probably a Piper Matrix 1 unless i want to go more far and take a long Fokker 50 lesson.
@Boeing747type8 You dont want to just fly anything, make a goal, trust me. Thats very good that you want to become a pilot. Keep flying and get good grades and you will have it made :)
Can a 747-400 pilot fly this jet with out training , I mean , the training is important but that is not what I mean , I mean like if he was on-board a 747-8 as a passenger , and the pilots are gone , can he land the plane safely if you was a 747-400 pilot ? ( Captain or first officer ) ?
747 has been proven since the early 70's and this is the latest product..all thought out and safe. I'd take this anyday over an A380. Not saying the A380 is bad, but it was done hastly....
@sabatonchik Only a few. They test anywhere up to 15 all different sorts of ways. But every time Boeing researchers, and produces a new airplane, they put the whole company on the line because of how much it costs to do that type of stuff.
Flying city @ 560 miles/hr, 250 ft x 225 ft spread......carrying 975 K LBS is a complete turn on!!! Raked wing tips adds lot of glamour to the Dreamliner. Excellent combination of an art and capacity!!!
I wouldn´t have probably shut down 3 out of 4 engines. That's too much of a risk if the remaining engine decides to quit. I am not sure whether insurance would cover such an event.
747 has been upgraded since the first model came out in the late 60's, that's why i'd rather fly this beauty, than the all new A380..which allready had an engine explosion.
A few years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said "Ge the kids and get out of the house, we'll call the police we don't have a clown statue". The 'clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your be at 3:00 A.M. with a chainsaw in his hand. Sorry dont't want this to happen to me.
@imflyer777 The 747-8 is the third-generation Boeing 747 version, with lengthened fuselage, redesigned wings and improved efficiency. The new 747-8i has more and improved lcd's in the cockpit also. The 747-8F can accommodate 154 tons (140 tonnes) of cargo. To aid loading and unloading, it features an overhead nose-door. It has 16 percent more payload capacity than the 747-400F and can hold seven additional standard air cargo contain.
I see that the switches on the overhead panel have been changed by push buttons but stuff like the MCP is still analog they could have made it digital. Does it have FBW ?
@FutureFlightDream Nice try selling a 747-8. What he found weird is that the cockpit looks exactly the same as the -400. With all the Boeing sponsored talk you spewed out, his question is still unanswered ;)
