this was actually...............hilarious. i just started self teaching sign language and when you started saying/signing do you want breakfast.....i was like waittttttt that's not how you say breakfast....but then i read the captions lol....funny
@nacotto Haha! That's why I added the captions to let the hearing people understand the humor side whenever they may sign the words in the most WRONGFUL way.
Haha, these are pretty amusing. I really want to learn ASL but I'm scared of making mistakes like the breakfast one. Do you know how I can avoid those? Or are they just inevitable?
@SuperJew2D2 Lol. I am planning to make a video and show the correct way to sign for these misleading words. And then, you would know how to avoid those. It is just practice and learning in matter of time to get it correct. :D
I'm hearing but have been learning sign for 3 years. I watched this and laughed so hard. My boyfriend is also hearing but familiar with sign and laughed just as hard. Good stuff!!!
Yeah,I suppose the reason people ask about driving is because there is a VERY STRICT law about driving with headphones on,or blasting your radio speakers so you can't hear sounds on the road.Sirens and horns:cars, trains, emergency personnel.Yes,even with flashing lights, this is required by law.In fact,in recent years sirens have been replaced with different frequencies because of this. It's a reasonable question. Not everyone has a hearing aid that can pick up sirens while inside a moving vehicle.
@kudos8856 Hmm. I have seen number of hearing people wearing headphones while driving or using cell phones. That isn't safe for them, because it can cause distraction for them. Remember, not every deaf and hard of hearing drivers like to listen or blast their music as loud as some hearing people do. There is a small flashing light that alert deaf drivers to know if the siren is on, loud horn beeping, or anything else. The faster it flash, the closer it is to the driver.
LMAO!! Wow. That's funny. I'm an ASL student (just started) but I can see how some hearing people can make those mistakes (like signing "deepthroat" instead of "hungry"). Thanks for pointing that out! Bahahaha Funny stuff!
@GoingBerdy Lol. There are more that I have caught from hearing people that has made wrongful signs. I just haven't gotten a lot of time yet to make another video. There will be second version on the WAY! :)
@8588cee You should use the one that was pointed out in "Switched at Birth" where this girl wanted to sign "hang out" and instead she signed "circumcise". LOL
@GoingBerdy Lol. I never knew about that sign until it was brought up on the show! Did you notice that she was still using that wrongful sign from the recent episode (14th episode)? Emmett didn't say anything. He just ignored it and continued the conversation with her.
THERE'S A GIRL WHO IS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR VIEWERS, SUBSCRIBERS, AND YOUR CREDITS ON "SHIT THAT HEARING PEOPLE SAY." YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON WHO CREATED THIS. SHE POSTED OF "HER OWN" A WEEK LATER. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I JUST WANT TO GET THE WORD OUT!! Plus your video was WAY FUNNIER THAN HERS! You gotta DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!
@mucomom I accidentally erased Kristin's comment by mistake. I meant to erase my own reply, not hers. She said that you could start from the chest (near where your heart is). I agreed with her. In fact, you just gave me an idea for making another video.
lol funny stuff. "Bitch bitch" I have never made those errors but surely you know by now it's not just deafness people are stupid about. Thankfully it's not the majority. :)
@kerryoke68 I want to mention that there are several lack of education issues that have invade the deaf community as it can invade to anybody's education. You may be surprised with number of hearing parents who have deaf child(ren) are not sure about how to get proper education for their children. For instance, they put them to "hearing school" without proper services (interpreters, note-taker, and much more) that deaf and hard of hearing students need. There are school for the deaf!
@8588cee no that doesn't surprise me. I minored in sign and I have a deaf niece. When I was a child I was learning to sign with an elderly person in the nursing home I visited, my brother said "I could never learn that". When we grew up he had a daughter who is deaf. He now has a masters in deaf education and is an administrator for the hearing/sight impaired. We've talked about these things at length. There is a lot of ignorance out there. Congratulations on your upcoming degree. How exciting.
@kerryoke68 I am not ashamed to be part of the deaf community. By the time I arrived to college, I realized of what I was missing out on education. Everybody has weakness on certain subjects. For me, it is English. While I'm in college, I have began to work my way up to get proper education I need to become an Architect. I am on my last year for receiving Bachelor degree. Whoo!
You've had people ask if your aids are gum?! WTF are they stupid?! I mean I get the "why are you wearing ear plugs?" thing from younger kids all the time but gum!
Definitely had the speaking louder thing. And slower. And staring at me all creepy like because I'm a lip reader. I must say the thing I get the most is always my friends saying "What?" over and over as a joke because I always say it. HAHA guys very clever. Gargle.
Nice post (also are you Wisconsinite too with the Green Bay shirt?)
@mirrorbluenight I have lived in Wisconsin from time to time. I wasn't born there. I LOVE GREEN BAY PACKERS!!! I don't consider myself as a bandwagon fan, because I have been supporting them since 1992!
About the gum situation, I was teased by the bullies in middle school.
@kwptennis Same here! I don't understand why.. Driving doesn't have to do anything with hearing. You only need eyes on the road. Even the handicapped drivers are allowed to drive in America! They have special design to assist them.
There are several countries, like Japan, don't allow deaf people to drive. And I think that is FOOLISH! I believe that everybody should have equal rights as anybody else.
@TH3HaroldVlog Thanks, man! Several hearing people don't realize that many deaf people have the other four senses that include taste, feel, sight, and SMELL!
At RIT and NTID... The campus safety pull over the deaf woman motorist.... The officer signed to the deaf woman, "May I see your pussy license" So she refused, "NO!" Arrested and take to office... requested the sign language interpreter. Interpreter showed up and both told the officer, you sign "PUSSY" instead of "License"
soo tru!!! best one I watch! *thumb up*
