i've always wondered if this laugh came out of him the same when he was in the early years of the who... i mean like when keith was aged between 17 to say 23, if he laughed like this too .... that laugh and the way he looked back then just don't add up it boggles me o.o... but his voice pretty much was the same throughout his adult years well that is when he wasn't putting on an accent ..... love him x)
@bigmatt9494 No I think this is either 77' or 78'. Keith used to grow beards back that and he looks so fat (no offense to him). And that drum explosion kit was in 1967. And I didn't know thast: Pete went 80% deaf. Wow.
Tu parles très bien français ! Il y a just quelques petites fautes mais les explications sont très claires ! La video est vraiment très drôle ! Hahahahah ! Very funny !
it was keith that cause pete`s hearing problem when he put to much gun powder in his bass drum it exploded i front a pete ear watch vid pete hair was blown over on one side. being in the who came with danger. its very funny though
what i found sad about this video, is that pete and keith are/were the same age, and yet, while pete looks so young and alive in this video, Keith looks so, aged, and sickly. While he remains one of the best rock drummers of this era, and best characters ever to be thrown in front of the media, to see him, but a few years before his death is... sad. It reminds me of how much greater he could have been, had he been able to hold his shit together
Pete says he went with Bill Curbishly to the doctor to get his ears tested, and Keith is saying "Terrible, terrible ears," laughing about it. The doctor said Townshend's hearing is damaged and Curbishly asked the doctor if Pete should give up, and throw his career out the window. The doctor suggested learning to lip read, and that's what Keith is laughing at in the video.
this is hilarious. pete got his ears tested... horrible ears. i think 'bill' is bill graham, the promoter. he asks the doctor for advice on what pete should do. the doctor (my favourite impression) advises pete to learn how to lip read. moonie really seems to get a kick out of pete's doctor impression. he chuckles before pete finishes the sentence.
@willruddock way off , he's telling keith bout the time after the drumkit explosion that he was telling the road manager he was thinking bout getting his ears checked in which keith replied, well I would advise him to learn to lipread
On the Quadrophenia tour, Roger was ranting on Pete's songs on the Quadrophenia album, so Pete got pissed and hit Roger with his guitar. The roadies pulled him back and Pete called Roger a cunt. And then Roger got REALLY pissed and punched Pete in the face, knocking him instantly out cold. Pete's opinion of Roger was always negative, obviously. Oh, and I read about that little fight in a Pete biography.
Haha, Keith is such a goof. He's like my friend Keith, WOAH HOLY SHIT. I just realized they have the same name. Anyway, I have this friend named Keith, and his psychotically weird/goofy. I think it comes from insecurity and a craving for attention, and I'm guessing Keith Moon was a bit like that.
more likely Roger was still under contract with Talmy, and Talmy (and/or the band) didn't want to be completely rid of him. clashing with Roger kept the tension and creativity going, except when Roger slugged Keith.
whatever Roger's differences with the band were, this had nothing to do with why they kicked him out, and he was asked to return within a month; this event was at least six months before MG was released
somewhere in all this, problems developed between Roger and everyone else. i heard Pete's accounts of Roger at various times in their history, a like-hate of him back and forth, so it wasn't always "bleedin' brawler, always givin' blokes some fives" .
ah, stink. well, first off, Pete came into The Detours at the request of John, which was already Roger's band. The Detours went through some personnel changes, name changes and management changes. vids of The High Numbers show Pete and Roger weren't always fighting. their new management (Kit and Chris) put Pete as new bandleader and head songwriter.
i think there was always some good underlying chemistry between Pete and Roger, but they were just too proud and boyish (girlish?) to admit it until John passed on,
Good chemistry between Pete and Roger? The two of them hated each other! John's death definitely brought them closer, but it took that to bring the two of them together. That's how much they disliked one other. I think Roger was largely ostracized and alone during the majority of his time with the Who. He didn't get the other three, and the other three didn't really get him.
Roger was a working class guy, the Who for him was as much a way out of poverty and obscurity as it was a band. Pete and John were not that. They weren't "toughs" from the rough neighborhoods of industrial England. Pete in particular was the inquisitive, insightful, sensitive artiste. And John had a side of him that was like that as well. Keith was sort of this crazy goofball, probably a bit insecure, that just wanted to find a place where he could be his crazy self.
So it's no wonder they clashed with Roger. They probably thought Roger was a brute who didn't understand their humor, their art, or them, and felt that he was to some degree just muscling his way into the band; maybe Pete even felt Roger was using him, appropriating his artistic vision to make a career for himself. Roger probably thought they were arrogant, pretentious, "art freak" type wimps. Hell, they'd kicked Roger out of the band and only brought him back because My Generation became a hit.
Have to put in, Roger at least did not hate Pete. At the end of Amazing Journey: Story of the Who, he said he always loved him, whether they got along or not.
I remember an interview with Pete where he said he DID think Roger was just an idiotic tough guy who didn't actually understand the music.
Anyway, Pete said they got closer during the '96/97 Quadrophenia tour, so they were becoming good friends before John died.
It's always nice to see the guys in the Who having tender moments with eachother. I understand that Pete and Roger have grown closer since John's death
@highnumber13 yes! that bill!! i don't know why i thought they were talking about bill graham. BILL CURBISHLEY! it makes sense. this was after they got rid of kit & chris... who had developed a heroin addiction.
