  • this game was amazing!!!!the level of the food is hilarious

  • This is such a zany, surreal video game. It shows you how 2D platformers were perfected on the Genesis, only to be abandoned in the mad rush towards 3D polygons in the Saturn/PSX era. It's really too bad, because David Perry hasn't done anything memorable since Earthworm Jim 2. Come back, Dave!

  • The graphs aren't that much improved but the music... wow!

  • ...how the hell aren't the graphics improved in the Saturn version?...

  • @edward18517 they may look sharper but they're still same as in mega drive. I tried emulating both and graphs are pretty same only Saturn has slightly sharper image.

  • Are you talking about the sprites or the backgrounds? Cause the backgrounds for the most part look entirely different from the Mega Drive and SNES versions of the game.

  • @edward18517 The sprites mostly but the background is slightly better. Not that much of course at least 1 and 2nd parts of the game were great but the one for 64 was the worst.

  • hahahah i remember!! i knew "moonlight sonata" because of this game!

  • Are you a sperm are something wtf?

  • @steve5123456789

well, obviously Jim is an earthworm -_-

  • Comment removed

  • @realcatgirllover 3.55 -_-

  • @steve5123456789

it's called an Olm, a blind, cave-dwelling salamander that lives in subterranean waters of caves in southern europe.

I must admit it seems like an odd choice for a playable character...but it fits the overall surreal and absurd setting of the game.

  • The face on the life meter freaks me out he looks goofy 1:20

  • lol ! the pig ^^

  • i hate puppy love

  • Great intro! It looks very professional. Also, I'm sure this is what Earthworm Jim 2 Special Edition would be like for the Sega CD.

  • amazing graphics

  • Best version of awesome game.

  • Seriously why does Jim stand and run like his affraid or/and in a hurry?

  • @MINItheFox

I don't know... but jogging in place is ideal for keeping your pulse up ;)

  • @realcatgirllover He looks like he really has to pee.

  • What's that orange thing at 1:33 bouncing around?

  • Earthworm Jim 2 is almost perfect game in my opinion only thing i hate in this game is that stupid flying level were you have to take the bomb through the level and blow up the boss

  • I love this Jim's mad scream :)

  • there!! at minute 3.12 there it was the secret area!!! :DDDD loved this game....! great music great gameplay!

  • Better than pro wrestling!

  • On the puppy love stages, the SNES and Genesis versions had a cool pseudo 3d effect on the background and the houses that aren't in the Saturn or PSX versions.

Odd that those levels looked better on the older cartridge versions than the CD versions.

  • Dang! This game is Grooooooovy

  • the background is awesome

  • ewj always had great art design in 2d. goes to show that 3d/realism isnt always the best way to go and this is a good example of that. ewj the underrated icon...

  • Nice to know its rare, I found this and Galactic Attack at the fleamarket for 10 bucks :D

Both are legendary old school games

  • was the sega saturn the dream cast, because my friends had one and i think this.

  • Different systems. The Sega Saturn came between the Genesis/Sega CD/Sega 32x console and the Sega Dreamcast.

  • Wow, his voice is so much higher-pitched on the Saturn version.

  • Now on the Wii VC!

  • @thinedoor2 I GOT IT!!! IT SUCKS CAUSE ITS THE SEGA VERSION.... CRAPPY SOUND... THATS MY FAV PART OF EARTHWORM JIM 2 IS THE MUSIC

  • That's a shame. I agree that the SNES version had much better audio than the Genesis (which could be said of the versions of most games on both consoles).

  • @thinedoor2 except Mortal Kombat 2, the SNES version sounds horrible, they completely botched the tune for the Character Select screen and the rest of the songs sound muffled, but the Genesis version is crystal clear. The only SNES game that I can think of that sounds better than a Genesis version is Maximum Carnage

  • @cAc3d Interesting. It's true that there were several games for the two platforms whose SNES versions were marred by lazy programming decisions, but it just seems to me as a general principle that the SNES' sound had greater range, dynamics and expressive potential while the Genesis (as impressive as it was) was plagued by a tinnier, brassier and shallower timbre.

  • the song is even better dude...

  • So what did this version have that the Genesis didn't? I'm wondering are there are big 32bit levels and stuff?

  • jesus, was this really made in 95? how were we so blinded by mediocre 3D to let this kind of gold pass us by? we were fools, we were fools...

  • @neogeon at around that time 2D games were some of the best ones ever made, franchises that did not go 3D remained good and ejoyable Like the Megaman X series or Castlevania SOTN, Franchises that jumped on the 3D bandwagon like Contra suffered greatly because of it

  • @Muffincakeswithsugar I'm well aware of that, but the level of 2D animation in Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 is nearly on par with an actual broadcast cartoon. I can't name any other game aside from maybe the Lucas Arts titles (which were technically FMV or just still images for the most part) that came anywhere close until the late 90's with some of the revamped street fighter and Neo Geo games.

  • The music and backgrounds are loads better, but I think the VO's somehow got worse...

  • Indee the backgrounbds are cool, but i need the mp3 ANYTHING BUT TANGERINES plz hand it over from sega saturn :P

  • EWJ 2 in sega saturn has an awesome backgrounds!!

  • @peasoroms Don't forget the soundtrack. Seems like more than a few Saturn games had great soundtracks.

  • @101Volts I don't like the arranged ost... i prefer the classic.

  • @peasoroms I should have been a bit more specific. Saturn soundtracks just have something about them. Its been a while since I played it but I think the Pro Pinball game I have for Saturn is similar.

  • @peasoroms awesome music also. And yes, I think backgrounds from Saturn version are best from all versions.

  • for snes if you live in ohio they have one at video games express

  • I still have this for the SNES...or Sega Genesis, I'd have to check. I have Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, but one for each of the consoles I mentioned. Awesome games, both of them!

  • O.O this is a whole new game compared to the gameboy its like the difference from a mac and PC

  • i am so buying this off ebay. the game is extremely rare and hard to find but ebay seems to be the solution :D so the saturn version of this game is the best one

  • the controls arent as tight as the Megadrive Genesis version. well the PAL Saturn version anyway take it from me.

It makes it really hard to do the Puppy love stages

  • I hate the Puppy Love stages no matter what version of the game I play, they're one of the key things that make me not like the game as much as the first one.

  • lol, the puppy love stages are fucking legendary

  • I wish I had that game, but it is only released in Japan and finding the ROM is rare (for me).

  • do you mean the game itself or the ROM file of the game? cuz the ROM is really easy to find on the net but the game itself is really hard to obtain.

  • I always like getting the actual games, it gives an actual purpose to having them.

  • @Mippish No, this game had an American release.

  • Personally, i love just how fracking wierd this game is.

  • The only thing Earthworm Jim had going for me was the animation which was very impressive ( still to this day ) . I just got fed up with the redundant Jim phrases - sigh Another game that comes to mind -- BOOGERMAN - lol

  • Haha. musics waaay better in this version and the backgrounds awesome.

  • This game made absolutely no sense besides the plot, but I suppose Earthworm Jim just wouldn't be as groovy if he made sense all the time.

  • i played the sega version.

this game is riduculously funny and good ^_^ wish they'd make a remake

  • is this the best version of ewj2 ?

  • Yeap! If you want the best 2D version of any game SEGA Saturn is the place ;)

  • Yup, Saturn is my favorite console, And with 2D, its just a beast

  • This game rocked, wish I had the Saturn version. I played it on Genesis.

  • In The Beginning What Editing Did You Used?

  • you mean the intro? I used Lightwave 3D.

  • EarthWorm Jim is cool

  • the best of the games =)

  • look at 4:21 that muisc not the same that song was from level 1 chair stair

  • Beautiful background!!! =O

  • I so love this game and I still have it! I own it on Sega Saturn and the whole console still works like brand new!!

  • you sir!, have a really rare game!

  • what game do you recommend me ? This or Shinobi Legends(X)

  • both...if you can find them cheap.

  • unfortunately i can only manage one at this moment...so ?

  • I'd say go buy Shinobi Legends(EW2 is just not my type of game -_-).

  • jaja yeah i know , thanks

  • @realcatgirllover *shinobi legions* " -_-)."

  • It is weird how the flying puppy game uses a 3D backround on the Genesis but only 2D backrounds on the Saturn.

  • It's kind of annoying that the whole psuedo 3D effect isn't present on the psycrow hut and dog house on the saturn version; I always thought that was kind of cool.

  • is this the ingame soundtrack?

  • from what i remember from 3:41 to 4:21 must have been the most disturbing game experience ive ever had lol

  • It's weird... the background is different on SNES, PC(DOS) and Sega Saturn versions. lol

The Sega Saturn version seems to have additional background layers for the rest of the levels.

  • I LOVE THIS GAME!

  • i still have this game for the sega saturn! the cd is scratched up bad though.:| this game was hard and i spent alot of time on it.

  • Why does this run slow on a emulator.

The title screens are show as crap.

  • saturn emulation isn't perfect yet. the game is fully playable but has some graphic glitches.

  • Also, any idea where i can get some plugins??

  • Btw I have the smae problems with the PSX version as well. And my Emulator works fine.

  • a-a-a-ammo

  • Which is better the saturn or psx version?

  • saturn version cause it has better graphics and less loading pauses, everything else is the same

  • I didn't even know there was a PSX verstion of EWJ2. I just tried looking for it, but can't find it anywhere on the net. Was it released in the US?

  • No, it was only release in europe......I can upload the perfect version which has all the music on it if you want.......

  • Don't call me she and lol nice username.

I just stayed up all night watching my simpsons DVD's.

  • who did the music for this?,it sounds similair to terminator sega cd.

  • Tommy Tallarico. That would be why it sounds similar, he also did the music for Sega CD's Terminator. ;)

  • What's wrong with you? they did a good job.

  • the music is awesome.

  • heyy! don´t forget the balloon!! lol

  • Who's voicing jim? Nancy Cartwright?

  • Doug Tennapel the creator of Jim is voicing him right now.

  • I owned the Genesis version so all I can say is DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!

  • TENDER!

  • Only in this game, does the word "as-SALT-ed" make any sense...^_^;;

  • Screaming Pink did a good job on this one.

  • The level "The Villi People" might be one of my favorite levels in a video game.

  • i loved it when jim ammo

  • Music is awesome.

  • It was amusing to watch this, and this version should be updated and maybe added to the Sega mega cd version and re-released for the latest games machime's

  • saturn version of Earthworm Jim 2 was the best!!!!!

  • Did the Saturn version only come out in Japan?

  • Nope. Also, this version was also released for PC, though in a rare EWJ 2-pack called "The Whole Can O' Worms". It's pretty much identical to the Saturn version, music and all. It was also released on the PlayStation, but only in PAL territories.

  • It was released here in NTSC U/C as well, go to GameFaqs and you'll see, there's even a whole boxart for it, just clikc on Images/Pics

  • Yeah, you're right, DihDin! I recognized the U.S. box art. lol I KNEW it was released for the Saturn in the U.S. ;-)

  • Yeah, I bought "The Whole Can O'Worms" for a good friend of mine and we were pissed to find out that "The Whole Can O'Worms" was anything but, as it was missing a few levels. If my memory serves me right, it was also missing a few other things.

I was going to by it for myself, but never got around to it. Even though I was pissed it was gimped, I'm still kicking myself for not trying harder to get it.

EWJ2 was never released for the Saturn here in the U.S.? I could have sworn it was. Hmmm...

  • OMG RCGL U MADE 306 VIDEOS

  • ORLY?

  • i forgot how much this game ruled. im gonna have to buy it now.

  • Wow, that's a pretty cool background in Anything But Tangerines.

  • such an incredibly fun game.

  • WOW.

Guitar solo in there is awesome..

  • god damn, this looks great!

  • the music is tight!!!

  • I miss Jim. Those were some great weird games.

  • The Sega Saturn of Earthworm Jim 2 has AWESOME music!

  • This looks very well designed. I love the straws in Level Ate, they're like dancing to the fiesta music!! Haha!

  • I also love the way Jim says: "Whoopee!" when you get the Earth flag from Anything But Tangerines. Whoopee!

  • so awesome
