  • I never imagined Group X would be teaching me Ableton....

  • you sux in english you talking like a polish guy ;d russian or something :)

  • @DjEpicKing he makes a free tutorial and all you can do is insult his english, which is actually very good? do one mate.

  • @DjEpicKing You aren't much better.

  • @DjEpicKing you sux at respecting diffirent nationalities,so you can ''sux'' my cock

  • @serro1990 haha im from the same land like he but he cant speak english !! xddd

  • @DjEpicKing hah, nothing better than a bitchslap from a friend on youtube isnt it? xD

  • @DjEpicKing nah,this this guy definetelly isnt russian,im guessing polish probably,or maybe brazilian,portuguese,man,who cares

  • @DjEpicKing lol, you obviously aren't very good at english either.

  • i cant zoom in? can any one tell me why or what another shortcut than draging the mouse up and down??? thanks alot.

  • @assais: i would suggest you to start with virtual dj! To me thats basic stuff, and can try out video mixing aswell. Virtual dj home version is a free download and it isnt a trail. Check it out.

  • whats the difference between ableton and mixmeister and traktor for creating a dj mix? which should i use as a beginner?

  • @assais i agree with djiatro i wouldnt start out using ableton for dj'ing. Ableton comes in handy if you're mixing in your own projects/remixes with a set... but for just straight up dj'ing i would pick any of programs made for Djing. Virtual Dj, traktor, deckadance, or serato. They all offer pretty similar features and have similar interface... except vdj has some great video DJ'ing stuff if you're into DJ'ing video... which few people are

  • @grenadezeroone thanks man, im using traktor with the S4 and im loving it!! check out my mixes on mixcloud and search for RicMansur and lemme know hwat ya think

  • our work.....hereisdone

  • for all the haters: DAFT PUNK use Ableton Live ;)

  • Paul Kalkbrenner uses Ableton too for live DJ'ing and he fucking pwns with it.

  • he sounds like Gru

  • I am a dj in der world :D

  • PC-DJ's are the Milli Vannillis of the current generation....

  • To the haters: You know that Deadmau5 uses ableton right? lulz.

Even though I don't really like him, a better example is Felix Cartal.

He uses ableton and his sets are the most unreal i've ever seen.

  • @electrolyfe i saw a video of him using deckadance actually. Ive seen videos of him using FL studio as well. It would make sense if he used deckadance in fl studio as a vst

  • Nemas pojma, za 5:51 minuta nista pametno nisi uradio, brisi ovaj video!

  • omg with the fucking warp thing, when i try and move the markers the whole song moves with it and it changes speed, fuck how do i fix it?

  • hahaha "practise"

  • what soundcards are good for djing in ableton live? can a mixer be used as a soundcard...?

    Thanks

  • it wont let me drag and drop into the audio column? its really pissing me off :(

  • Thanks for your time in naking the video but the mixing sounds like crap, starting on 3:50 you wrote practise...anyhow if youre uploading a mixing demo you need to start follow your own advices and practice...

  • So, do you put the effects in the master channel (on the right) or one on each individual track? For example, if you want to use "Flanger<" where would you place it? Thanks?

  • Daft made their live performance's with Ableton Live and some Behringer mifi mixer and other stuff.

  • dude it´s not "wrapping" the songs, you're supposed to warp them!

  • Fail 3:50 ahaha :)

  • so why not just use the crossfader instead of playing with the individual track volumes?

  • Hm, i tried to load my Beatport downloads to Ableton Live Intro, but it seems like they're not licensed or something... Anyone know how to fix this?

  • go through another program.. id suggest wavelab, then save as a new folder..

  • new file*

  • @iCgalz actually, installing quicktime made it, and live INTRO plain sucks in deejaying...

  • totaly agree eith shayhtfc

  • Who are these old timers complaining about having the computer matching beats? Its evolution of DJing. When turntables came out people using scotch tapes probably whined that it ruined the skill.

It means DJs of the future can concentrate more on doing creative stuff like remixing, looping and dropping samples etc on the fly because the computer does the repetitive manual work for you.

In 10 years, everyday DJing will be about so much more than just beat matching and fading across.

  • @shayhtfc haha u obviously dont mix

  • @shayhtfc I'm an old timer. I started on 1200s 15 years ago. Still got 'em too. Learnt to mix the hard way. Nowadays I use Serato (which has improved vastly since it first came out). Let me tell you something. 90% of djs past, present and future, won't learn even 50% of all there is to their craft, even myself included. But the majority of that 90% will loudly dismiss new technology as if they did know everything. Many famous djs don't even know basics, like how to read crowds, count bars etc.

  • @shayhtfc Also, we won't need to wait 10 years like you said. It's already been happening for a couple of years. Henrik Schwarz is a good example. Check him out live.

  • @shayhtfc

The reason however the DJ community dislikes this is because all the things you said like remixing sample dropping and whatever and what not a good real DJ can do already and has been for years. Yes this is not the average DJ these are master DJs; people who dedicated themselves to achieving something more to better entertain the people and have something to show for it. It is like losing your job to a robot. I guess thats evolution though.

  • @shayhtfc Electronic music is probabally the kind of music that isnt turning into shit If you take the time to find good artists they are doing amazing stuff.

  • thanks bud!!

  • thanks

  • Ableton DJ Fed Up Being Humiliated By Mocking Vinyl Junkies!

I use Ableton Live to DJ and because of that I get branded a CHEAT! Heres what happened next..

Check out my video but basically start using Ableton in ways that traditional djing cannot do.

Use the time you save beatmatching to be more creative and manipulate the sounds.

Live remix the tracks your mixing

  • Solid Informative video-Thanks

  • you don't need to go through the whole track putting the warp makers in place, simply do the first one then right click and select 'warp from here straight',

saves going through the whole track each time

and gleboff, of course he didn't beatmatch it it's a program,

the technology is here to be embraced, saying that anyone who uses a dj program to mix can't do it in the real world is folly, take ur head out of your arse and stop being a cock with such comments.

  • thnks bro, you saved me from so much haste, can you please tell me how to fade a portion of the track

  • That sounds very easy, I'll try it.

  • @emjaydee1 Agreed. Plus any retard can mix. All it takes is a sense of rhythm and a very basic understanding of the structure of music.

  • did you beatmatch at all?

  • i thought everyone was done with that stale talk about beatmatching, its over mate, beatmatching is no longer that important, there are so many more skills out there in the DJing/production fusion. emjaydee1 knows the score.

  • i meant like, using some sort of function just to get things in sync

  • @gleboff retard.

  • thanks basic ; )

  • cool video tho

  • haha! knobs! at 2.36. i shouldnt laugh cuz i cant speak another language but its funny

  • Can you beatmatch and cue on the spot or must you always load the set beforehand?

  • Comment removed

  • very helpful bud

  • any one using this for radio playout???

  • Such a sexy accent you have my foxy little DJ!!

  • Ableton will take your life.

  • thats true bro

  • wow talk about taking all the fun out of being a dj. good totorial none the less. i use ablton alot now so it was cool to see this done

  • he actually said : CNobs ...

  • Call the care police!

  • also how do i record my sets? i press record and guess wot... nuthing happens lol send me a message if u can helpus out!!

    cheers

  • you pressed play right?

  • well yeh lol

  • get voxengo recorder and put it in your master track, its easy and you can save it to anywhere in your computer

  • When you are in "Session View", if you hit the record button in the top part of the window (next to the OVR button) and then start your set, Ableton will record your work. The way to see and hear what you did it is to switch over to "Arrangement View" - it should all be there - then just highlight what you want to bounce and hit "Export Video/Audio". Viola!

  • thanks

  • you've been lucky 'cause this was a crap wrap and u killed the bass to mix em

  • Thanks.

    I'll give it a shot :)

  • This program looks great for people who like to fiddle around but, I'm a working DJ. I need things to be simple & fast.

I would love to find a program that has a GUI like Cubase, Pro Tools, Audition. i.e. a horizontal timeline that U can drag & drop tracks onto, & move them with ease, BPM chnages where you want them etc. MixMeister Pro LOOKED like it but, it wasn't easy to move the tracks to where U want them to go. Plus, the default fade out settings were annoying too, amongst other things!

  • Andrew, if you hit "Tab" from the screen he's working in you get a horizontal timeline-based editor that works as you described.

  • And anything you can control in the app or on your midi equip. can be recorded for automation (any kind of custom fade-out and such).

  • great job, man!

  • wot types of files can i use, i try mp3 but dont work lol ive literraly just installed the programme

  • MP3 does not work with Live Lite only Live LE and the full version of Live.

  • oh for real. than what does work with Live lite.

also. im gonna upload it anyways once i master it.

  • lilivier : as long as your tracks are warped properly, the track that you mix in will allways be in tempo with the mix, even if you change the tempo...

  • Super filmik, ale nad akcentem musisz popracować :-) Pozdro

  • Nice tutorial, thanks ;)

By the way, can we modify the tempo during the mix ?

For exemple once i have finished the mix between track A and track B and A is muted, could i set the tempo to be equal to track B original tempo ?

  • pleez watch and rate my first ableton project video

  • ive sampled the 'our work here is done' line from around the 2.30 mark, its so going on the end of one of my tracks haha

    sounds class

  • i'm flattered , send me a pm with a link to the track ;)

  • Nice informative tut, thanks.

  • Great!

  • a friend wanted to see the basics and i figured i'd find a youtube video instead of me typing everything out over msn....

i havent watched the whole video but just to let u guys know, the beat markers are based on the type of warping u choose to load the track in (beats, re-pitch, complex or tones) for djing, u generally set the default to re-pitch.u might still have to move the first marker to the first beat but after doing so, rightclick on the first beat marker and then click"warp from here"

  • very good

  • ahahah he said KE- NOBS instead of knobs u know..

  • ahah the whole wave form? that is a joke

  • i wanna see you do that with a thousand of tracks... is a little confuse.

  • the whole wave?!!!! fuck that lol

  • So Ableton automatically beatmatches for you?

  • yes, sort of. But fot more accurate beatmatch it's better to do it manually.

  • hey i just have a question why did you have the record button on when you were mixing?

  • to record the mix

  • ohk yeah obviously lol

  • haha, state the obvious there mate lol! =)

  • lol true tho

  • lol, yeah. i love people who state the obvious!!! =)

  • thanks for the info. Very helpful.

  • When moving a marker to match a wave form is it better to move the marker from right to left or left to right, if you get what I mean?

  • i prefer left to right.

  • @beatmatchdotinfo if i hold the mouse and move it up and down nothing is happening any ideas what im doing wrong?? thanx

  • Can I dj using live lite line 6 version?

  • yes, lite version of ableton is perfect for dj's.

  • fuckin nice

  • Awesome videos. Keep them coming!
