  • Jesus camp is so fucked, i actually felt sick watching.

  • that jesus camp kind of freaked me out thats just horrible they're being brain washed

  • that muslim's argument were fucking stupid

  • I pee on Allah every day. Because if he's everywhere then he's in my toilet.

  • To the fat lady in the Jesus Camp I would only say this: "You need to lose weight, so why don't you fast in the name of Jesus and set an example of the power of faith so that the children can see that what your teaching isn't plain BS. Let's say you can take a couple of months and then come back and surprise everybody".

  • oh my god dawkins makes so much sense, this is wrong, making sense and being logical is wrong, wheres my little blanket that blocks me from thinking help!

  • Dawkins seems to be the only sane person in the room

  • 03:52 and than he would detonate the bomb.

  • those last couple seconds creeped me out! religon is the biggest mass cult

  • the last part is somehow disturbing...

  • The muslims would have said to Salman let's talk while another Muslims puts the knife in his back

  • @annata12 you know the mafia would also said "lets talk" and smiole to you. I fucking hate it when they lie on TV, even if the guy is serious with "lets talk" you cant be sure for sure if he would helped you if muslims were after you. Truely a mafia religion or cult, isnt it? Where do you have this phenomenon else?

  • My favorite answer to that charge is that they say he married he when she was nine, but they did not have sex until she was twelve.

  • This video will still be getting views and likes 20 years from now.

  • Horrifying... who wouldnt be disturbed by the Jesus Camp clip?

  • I thought the "Jesus Camp" film was sickening. Now that is child abuse.

  • Notice how the 'moderate' Muslim carefully sidestepped the question about whether he supports the death sentence on Salman Rushdie?

  • RICHARD DAWKINS IS A COWARD HE IS THE HORSE FACE GOD OF THE ATHIESTS AND HE IS TOO AFRAID TO DEBATE AGAINST INFORMED BELIEVERS THE MDI HAS ON MANY OCCASIONS INVITED THIS COWARD TO DEBATE BUT THE ATHIESTS ARE AFRAID TO LOSE THEIR HORSE

  • @scorpion32 ha ha ha there you go scorpion32 . Your answer just show that you are not an educated person . Who told you that athiests have a HORSE FACE GOD? May be you just learn from your childhood Sunday school . LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Arsenal466

loool they said arsenal fans were stupid but I never thought in my wildest dreams they would be this stupid

I said dawkins is the athiests god in jest you fool to take the piss since they all rally around his assertive militant atheist methods and also how he somehow appeared as their leader lool (please dont take offence I dont mean to offend but I have never laughed so hard lool) LOOL UR STUPIDITY IS FRIGHTENING

    fyi im not christian

  • @scorpion32 Obviously thought and honesty is not in your remit. Richard Dawkins does not debate professional debaters because he is too busy. He has the right not to waste his time with people who skew scientific truth.

  • @scorpion32 haha yeah right. dawkins stomps the crap out of theist debaters. it's pathetic.

  • Can't stand Dawkins.

  • When i was a kid and others called me names, my old Mum would say, tell them;

Sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never harm me,

And when your dead and in your grave you'll suffer for what you called me!

  • Why do people think that their feelings should dictate what others can say and not? Keep your silly feelings for yourself if you are weak enough to let them control you in the firts place. Don't come and whine to me that you are offended. For that you and only you are responsible. Don't like getting offended? Then simply don't get offended. The problem is most people don't even try to control what they feel and then demand respect for their own inability to stay cool. Ridiculous

  • 8:38 ....."I had spiritual experience when I was 5 years old"....

Spiritual experience...!? like what...!? monsters under the bed ???

  • also dawkins, you draw this tired argument about religion and child abuse. Yes, if you want to get semantical there is not "christian, or jewish or muslim child". They become that when they make that personal decision. But a parent has a right to choose what they believe is right to teach a child. For instance, a 3 year old isn't old enough to cross the street by his/herself. If a parent tells them not to, is that child abuse just because the child had no decision in the matter?

  • @jamaicanification

-"... is that child abuse just because the child had no decision in the matter?"-

No, it's called keeping your child safe. Can you say the same for indoctrinating children with beliefs systems whose vaildity hasn't been provenand probably never will be?

  • @JonathanTheAlchemist Im sorry, i guess Dawkins needs to go to the Oxford deans and change the definition of child abuse to one which suites his personal liking then. Ultimatey hes saying its child abuse because he doesn't like it. Simple. Hes just been on this tired crusade to try and bully people into not believing in religion and then flaunting an arrogant intellectual superiority complex if they do. Thats his real aim. Anyone who thinks he cares about kids needs to wake up....

  • So glad to see that I'm not the only one that was outraged by that Jesus camp documentary...we need to end this extremist bullshit...

  • I wanted to hear Dawkins tear a new one to that abusive Jesus Camp. =(

  • It's amazing how such a polite and genuinely nice man can really get on people's nerves.

  • oh man, that last clip from jesus camp... as an athiest, i'm more afraid to watch that than any horror movie...

  • When I was a kid I had no choice but to be baptised, forced to go to a church, pray, read a bible and never question any of it. Now, as I grew up I never believed any of the bullshit and never will either. I am free.

  • I thank "God" I wasn't brought up in religious family! But I do hope my fundamentalist Christian teacher in primary school will burn in "Hell".

  • Jesus camp, the most disturbing documentary I've ever seen

  • Wow. That Jesus Camp part was scary. It gave me goosebumps.

  • Richard Dawkins is intelligent, godless and besides he has a nice face. Evolution at it´s best.

  • How can you not at least respect Dawkins. Fair enough if you don't accept his arguments, but at least he provides evidence and comes to his conclusions using logic.

  • In the Philippines we have a law on "offending religious feelings" yet our Constitution states that the "separation of Church and State shall be inviolable." If they are separate, then why are our legislators writing laws about religion? I think you dont have a separation of Church and State there in England, thats why you are arguing about blasphemy as a crime, but here in the Philippines, it is clear in the Constitution.

  • @brugadag

isn't the cane still a capital punishment in the Philippines? i don't think it has anything to do with the separation of church and state, more whats offensive to people.

  • I'm really curious what Dawkins's answer to the brainwashed 12 year old girl was...

  • I can't believe Dawkins will be speaking at my university TOMORROW!!!

  • Right on Richard D. again your arguments are sound and clear thinking.

  • Going to jail for insulting someone's imaginary friend. Wow.

  • Scary last clip!

  • Salman Rushdie is a Hero!

  • And I thought The Big Questions couldn't get worse than I'd previously seen!

Blasphemy as a crime in the UK hasn't been observed for decades! How could it "remain" a crime?

  • I piss on Allah

  • @DamLazyFuk - don't get yourself in trouble. lol keep your words for yourself.

  • @DamLazyFuk I'm a "catholic' but pretty much an atheist...and i hope you go to hell

  • where is the second part?

  • FORBID ISLAM ! TODAY !

  • Why USA doesn't give Death Valley in California to Talibans in exchange for Afghanistan ans Pakistan. Afghanistan and Pakistan could be jainist or buddhist countries and Death Valley could be Islamic emirate of Death Valley!

What do You say Mr. President Obama???

  • Here is how to end all arguments with a Christian:

    1) Ask them why God made humans such that there are so many wicked people in the world. They will most likely answer because god gives us free will.

    2) Then ask whether heaven has any "sinners" or wrongdoers. Any answer besides "no" would contradict quite a bit of the bible.

    3) Infer then, that since there are no wrongdoers in heaven, that heaven therefore DOES NOT have free will. Doesn't seem too much like heaven now huh?

  • @airman665544 YES! I have said the same thing before, but haven't heard it from anyone else. If you have no free will in heaven, it is really no different than being DEAD and having no free will because you don't exist anymore! Moreover, if you have no free will in heaven, you are being eternally rewarded for existing in heaven (not the usual way we think of rewards), OR you are being eternally rewarded for a finite choice you made on earth--sounds like "spiritual welfare for eternity" to me.

  • @airman665544 your 3 steps to refuting christianity can itself be easily refuted.Yes we have free will by God. yes heaven has "sinners" in the sense that they had to be redeemed. No there wont be any sinners, but this does not negate free will because if you are pure you wouldn't do evil in the first place. Since there is no temptation, why would you do evil in the first place. Evil is the negation of good, and if there is nothing to cause you to turn away from good, why do it?

  • @jamaicanification

Yes, but...we can live perfectly good lives, never lie to anyone, and be good...yet still not believe in God. Does that then mean by the 1st commandment that we would go to hell? Think about it, the bible condemns non-believers. However, if we do good things out of our "free will", but also choose not to believe in God, we are doomed to an eternal pain, suffering and torture. I'd rather go to hell than listen to a dictator who doesn't even have the balls to appear to people

  • @airman665544 Ahhh, the old 'celestial North Korean argument' that Christopher Hitchens rambles on about all the time. No ones forcing you to believe in religion, or Christianity for that matter. If you have a problem with the doctrine of Hell, dont believe in it. I really could care less. But the fact that this so called 'dictator' gives you a choice doesn't seem so dictatorial to me(continued)

  • @airman665544 But let me ask you for the sake of argument, why do you think an omnipotent deity who created the universe out of which you and i are tiny microbes should continous appear before you just to prove his existence. That like going to an ant hill every minute of your life just to prove to the tinny little ants that you exists and they are in your backyard. Kinda a waste of time dont ya think?

  • @jamaicanification You know its not really a choice when a punishment is involve right.

  • @zune145 why isn't it? Hell is a state of being that one inflicts on one self. So in a sense it is a choice. If your stranded in the ocean for instance and the coast guard comes and throws you a rescue buoy, and you reject it, is that the coast guards falt or yours?

  • @jamaicanification No it isn't. It's like saying you can choose two movie Inception or Red, but if you choose Red then I'll torture you and if you choose Inception then I'll give you 2,000 dollars.

  • @zune145 Not really, cause god isn't toturing you. The torture is inflicted on yourself, because hell is a state of being in which someone makes a final, and eternal decision to reject god. So the ownus is all on you....

  • @jamaicanification The same thing can apply to what I just said. It's not really me who torturing you its you. You decision to watch Red. It's all on you. Don't you see how stupid that is.

  • @zune145 well, if you turned on the tv and you watched red, that would be your fault. Turn it off and you'll be fine. Thats a very stupid example to illustrate your point.

  • @jamaicanification But no in their right mind would do that no matter how much they want to see Red. That's my point. When you put a punish and reward system in place it's no longer free will.

  • @zune145 its not so much a punish and reward system as i have stated. That is too simplistic a term. As i have said, hell is the state of being one is in when one finally, for all eternitiy rejects god. God allows them this rejection, and allows them to try and find pleasure in the finite things of this world, of which he wont and eventually will sink into a level and despair at his choice. Its like you being out in the middle of the ocean cause your went pass(continued)

  • @zune145 that was declared relatively safe. Your boat breaks down because of the strength of the tides and your trapped. Then the coast guard comes and extends a rope or some sort of pully to bring you to safety. In that instance there would be a couple of things to note. Firstly, if you hadn't gone pass the safety zone, you wouldn't be in that predicament in the first place. Second, the coast guard is giving you a chance to escape the consequences of your action(continued)

  • @zune145 Ultimately though, the choice is up to you whether your gonna grab hold unto the rope/pully and come to safety, or say that you can make it back to the sure by your own strength. It that instance, the burden is left to you to make a decisive decision, because ultimately the rope/pully wont be there forever. It is the same sense with our belief in god. God gives you a chance, but the burden of choice is ultimately with you

  • @jamaicanification You do know a off shore boat doesn't have a relatively safe zone. It all on far the boat can go before it needs fuel, how exp the captain, and how the weather is, but that's not the point. It seem that you went through mental gymnastics to try justify the insane unjust action. This is a punish and reward system because without it there really be no reason to believe. Why believe in god if you don't get anything out of it or if you don't get punish for not believing.

  • @zune145 it is a metaphor. And if you have a yacht or something and you go beyond the zone thats relatively safe, then you could be in danger. I dont believe in god to get anything out of it necessarily. I believe in god because i think it makes more plausible sense than saying that you come from nothing and that the only reason you live life is to eat, drink, sleep, socialize a little, die and chill in the grave(continued)

  • @zune145 just so you can pig out with the worms. Thats just illogical to me

  • @jamaicanification One the whole something coming from nothing funny considering god created the universe out of nothing. Two to say that a god created you and has a purpose for you is arrogant to say the least. Three I find it illogical to believe in a book written almost 2000 years ago about a god that dates back to almost 4000 years ago by bigoted tribes men that have little understanding of the world and the universe around them.

  • @zune145 One, why do you assume that they were just 'bigoted tribesmen'? Two, the fact that presupposing god exist, he would not have necessarily made the universe from nothing, but it would have been because he willed it into existence. Three, its a lot more arrogant to assume that because a few specks of dust on a mud ball called earth has a slightly better understanding of the physical universe, that theirs automatically no god

  • micro-expressions at 7:48

  • hahaha the christians kids killed me...

  • Richard Dawkins is a breath of fresh air, I think that he's brilliant. His arguments are so logical, dignified and sensible.

  • @sleepypoodle

     bull

  • WHAT MUSIC IS THAT AT THE BEGINNING AND END???????

  • this channel is da shit !!

  • If you want to contact RD then become an really well known advocate of religion and creationism and he'll probably come and have a chat with you!

  • I'm gonna walk upto Dawkins chewing gum wearing my baseball cap backwards xD

  • @jackbliss

He won't crucify you for that! :-)

  • @dawkinschannel it would be sight if he did lol XD

  • goodness bless u richard i never get tired of listning to u. u are the true prophet of enlightenment reason and sanity . fuck islam and christianity

  • anybody know how I contact Dawkins?

  • @ArcaneUnit If you go to his website (richard dawkins foundation) there is a contact page.

  • Entertaining show, although for maybe the wrong reasons lol.

I believe a new series is about to start. I wouldn't be surprised if possession pops up again.

  • fuck religion(cults) must end

  • Guys, Islam is relaxed - that guy said it.

Ignore the Fatwā's and the honor killings and the relaxed anal sex with 9 year olds - it's chill according to this professors so it's all good.

  • I agree with the guy in the red shirt children can understand certain aspects of religion at a very young age, but it is dangerous to teach them theese things because this could lead lo him/she passing the informations she/he receives through that filter of religiousity and THAT IS JUST WRONG

  • that bearded muslim fellow should learn how to speak English properly or use an interpreter.. listening to him was torture

  • Worlds most important public intellectual Richard "The Great" Dawkins

  • I was hoping to see the program - but I got to see only Richard's bits. Doesn't Richard despise one-sided indoctrination coming from an open debate (which is why he doesn't debate creationists).

  • I don't think Muslims understand the concept of freedom.

  • Anne Widdecombe was nice and quiet. Exectly how i like her.

  • @BillyBobsEel

Sadly, in the full version she's not so quiet, and she gets into several arguments with professor Dawkins.

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon yes.. well the reason human beings are intelligent to such a high degree still puzzles most scientists... there are millions upon millions of species on planet earth and only one (you and me) can have a conversation over an invisible artificially made connection.. it's clear that humans are alot different than any other animals.. but really does not imply that god made us..

  • @gr4ndhustle

Ok, so when you look at a painting, how do you know there was a painter? You can't see him or touch him. But the painting is proof that there was a painter. If you look at a building you know that the building is proof that there was a builder. When I look at the universe the universe and life on earth is proof that there was a Creator. And when atheists say there is no evidence for the Bible, how do they come to this conclusion, because there is a lot of evidence.

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon

So looking at a god proves there is a creator. Then that creator proves there is a creator for the creator. Then that creator proves that creator's creator's creator.

Zero logic, Zero thought, thousands of comments. That's about the extent of your existence here on Youtube. Would you like a lollipop?

  • @wojovox

Again you are in error. God is eternal. He is spirit. He has always existed. Every object we "SEE" with our eyes has been designed. Creation proves there is an Almighty Creator, just like a house proves there is a builder, just as a painting proves there's a painter.

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon

    BeeBOOPBeeBOOP.....zszszszszsz, cannot compute, ....in error!

"God" always existed, fuck I'm sold. Yehaw! Go on with your "conversation", I remember your comments from a year ago. You only spam, troll, and spout your beliefs.

If a "god" creates humans like you, then let us hope a "god" does not exist.

  • @wojovox

God is eternal. He is Almighty Creator. Only by the blood of Jesus Christ can your sins be washed away and escape hell. The question is, where will you spend eternity?

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon

No intentions to be around for eternity.

The only proof we've discovered together here is the proof you really are a troll spouting your beliefs. You go suck god's dick and I'm going into Tampa Bay right now to enjoy our star's radiation and see if I can get close to a dolphin.

You continue on your important Youtube Quest.

    This conversation is over.

  • @wojovox

I see history repeating itself. Because you cannot accept the truth you have to make insukts. Deep down you know that evolution is a lie and a hoax. Why not repent of your sin and escape hell? Nothing is worth losing your soul.

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon hahahaha deep down inside you know that evolution is wrong lol hahaha that's the biggest joke i've ever heard.

  • @Atheist603 Please dont let that Armageddomcomingsoon retard destroy any respect for people who believe in God most of us believers (minus those stubborn creationists etc) believe in evolution, have a deep intrest in science it's just that we choose to believe in God (not a giant with a 10 foot white beard sitting on a throne because I dont know what God looks like) because it's either believe we're here in a 1 in 10000000000000000 chance or believe in God

  • yea i understand, to think about it,..evolution is all about random unguided process, and some chances. think about it how many species that have gone exctinct,..the human race could've easily gone exctinct,..but by chance we didn't. Also the probabilities of you being born, what if your parents never met,..wat if they chose not to have sex the day u were conceived, or if another sperm made it b4 the one that made u..etc.. were all these planned no,.but they happened by chance, and u here

  • @Atheist603

I would just like to correct you and say that evolution doesn't happen by chance, but by natural selection.

  • @raldakejla yes natural natural selection and a little bit of chance,..i mean when an environment changes,..some species make it and others don't,...so some species go exctnct you know?

  • @Atheist603

Exactly, but they don't go extinct on the basis of chance

  • Comment removed

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon Deep inside I'm sure you know that the spaghetti monster is the one true god. Do you not understand how evil you are by spreading a false religion? The spaghetti monster is disgusted with your actions! Repent or face it's noodly wrath!!!

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon

-"... how do you know there was a painter?"-

Because I know beforehand that paintings are the result of human activities. I assumem, with previous knowledge, that all paintings are manmade.

-"... is proof that there was a Creator..."-

So when you look at a creator, is that proof that there existed a previous creator?

-"... And when atheists say there is no evidence for the Bible..."-

What the fuck does this mean? Elaborate.

  • I just wanted to say I agree with dawkins in this video and I love the scene at the end where massive attacks two rocks and a cup of water song is playing I think that matched that scene very well.

  • I agree about the absurdity of religions, take Islam, they get 'offended' just because you aren't like them! Should they be more 'relaxed' ? No joke!!!

How can you get offended just because you write something on a stone and then realized that there are people who don't give a monkey about it?

    This in itself is insulting.

Look at how much crap happened and happens because of religions, but scientists, hardly kill each other! I was born as a 'roman catholic'? It's absurd....and abusive.

  • @luigiperso But if a person truely follows the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ then they wouldn't kill or steal or get involved in sexual perversion etc. If your an atheist you can live life anyway you want. Return to the Lord before it's everlasting too late. Hell is a horrible place with no relief. Jesus died to save you. Don't believe the lie of evolution.

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon if you are good only because you fear punishment and expect reward you're a sorry lot indeed... animals for example can do good towards other animals of an entirely different race or specie... and they never read any of the jesus christ teachings.. =P name any war fought in the name of atheism?? where is this god you speak of?? i'm not saying god doesn't exist, all im saying is open you're mind and dare to ask questions.. what's wrong with humans these days?

  • @gr4ndhustle It's clear that animals are created "without understanding." The Bible says we are made in God's "image." We aren't merely a higher form of species on the evolutionary scale. As humans beings, we are aware of our "being." We have an innate ability to appreciate God's creation. What animal gazes with awe at a sunset, or at the magnificence of the Grand Canyon? What animal sets up court systems for justice to its fellow creatures?

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon did it not occur to you that maybe we are intelligent enough to make up a god?? there just is no proof for it.. we look so alike other primates it's scary... please.. think about this.. learn more of the mechanics of natural selection without involving religion.. if you still don't change your mind.. i feel sorry for you..

  • @ArmageddonComingSoon

-"If your an atheist you can live life anyway you want..."-

No, laws exist. What makes you think such bullshit is true?

    -"Jesus died to save you."-

    I didn't ask for a meaningless sacrifice.

-"Don't believe the lie of evolution."-

Don't accept beliefs/claims that are unproven.

  • I'm glad the universe gave us Richard Dawkins

  • doesnt even speak english, why is this stupid muslim HERE? GO BACK

  • @siogyumolcs , by talking in the way you do, you hardly appear better than him.

  • where is the other part ?

  • Where's the rest of this video?

  • i'm a 15 year old living with a bible-thumping mom and a "okay" dad.

I'm have to pretend im a christian because it's against her rules.

Any mention of my belief in Atheism and she literally enters "Fundamentalist bitch mode" acting like i'm breaking a law and she SCREAMS that way. She says if i'm not christian, then im "killing" her and disrespecting her, and she says if i dont change now she'll destroy my guitars(im planning to study music, and have invested much time and my own money in it.

  • @Catyclysm

my mom puts religion before me.

and my dad puts politics before me.

  • @Catyclysm

Sorry to hear that this is the way your parents treat you. Look on the bright side; You will be able to get the hell out of there in a few years time, so in the mean time don't talk to either of them about religion or politics. Keep your Atheism to yourself until their hold over you has been broken.

Again, I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

  • @Catyclysm when I was growing up I had a cousin that had a mom like that. I use to have to sleep over at their house many nights. She would throw away any heavy metal tapes he had, even Van Halen. He could not listen to any music that wasn't crazy. I use to have to keep his music for him. Hang in there. You'll get through it.

  • @Catyclysm just fake it. untill you can leave.i feel for you. but as a human you should have the right to make up your mind on what may be or may not be true.ps ask her if she loves jesus more than you?(after u hide your guitars):P maybe you should have a heart to heart talk with your dad about this and see if your mother can respect you enough to lay off the jesus. i dont envy your position good luck.

  • @Catyclysm Maybe your mum just doesn't want you to spend eternity in hell. Ever thought of that?

  • @Catyclysm i feel very sorry for you... i personally would leave the house as soon as i could... people like that really keep you from achieving you're goals and if they don't support your idea's, beliefs and goals.. they aren't really all that good parents...

again, im really sorry for you mate.. i sincerely wish you the best of luck and care..

  • god = a person who preached moral values and that's all..he is not the supreme power...

people are blinded by religion , religion is the reason of war, differentiation, poverty ...

Religion makes a man personal decision into divine commands

  • Religious people have to be shitting themselves if they think it isn't harmful to children.

I will NEVER forget how terrified I was when my mom said if I ever insulted the holy spirit I would burn in hell. I was too afraid to even THINK about what the holy spirit might even look like. I was afraid to think badly about it or anything.

Never again. Go away Religion, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

  • It's abuse to humankind. Why would you teach a child that they were born with original sin and that they are evil. If they stand out of line, they are threatened with hell, which I though was a firey pit where you are tortured for eternity. You grow up having to say sorry for being human because every IMPURE thought we have is evil. The bible promotes sexism, rape, slavery, child abuse, homophobia. It ruins your childhood. A 3 year old can't understand church teachings, they find it boring.

  • Honestly, religion does poison everything and the more bronze age the religion the more bronze age the mind. A cancer of the human condition.

  • So the position is : arrogance justifies death threats? So instead of 'Stop trying to kill people', it's 'Mind your tongue'. Well fuck that.

  • in al america they find only one moslim who cant speak good english ,,lol ,, rediculus... wers shabir ,husaineen etc .. dawkins must be usually far from the moslim scholar they want him a symbol ..for me is just stupid

  • Discovered in 2003: The underlying law of nature.

Discovered in 2008: The empirical process by which one may identify the underlying law of nature first hand, for oneself.

This knowledge comes with no middleman wearing a fancy hat, cape, scarf, ring or necklace to obey and pay.

    Think about it.

The underlying law of nature is the observable, constant, most fundamental way of all things -- all matter, energy, forms, forces, thoughts, behaviour, events and conditions.

    Google it.

  • @TedDGPoulos Say what?

  • @sfurner Anything specifically?

  • Religion is for grown-ups as santa clause is to a child.....A lie.

  • I love the youtube Vuvuzela for the Jesus Camp part. I can't stand listening to that kind of nonsense.

  • To the guy who said that Dawkins was being patronising by saying that children are incapable of thinking about such things as "does God exist?" I am moved to cite the work of Jean Piaget on childhood cognitive development. Piaget's empirical work illustrates that children only become capabal of hypothetical thought and considering possibilities at the "formal operations stage" which occurs at around 11 years old.

  • Dawkins really needed to be on the show today. One of the questions was, "Is there any evidence for God?" The opinions of the religious nuts on this show were beyond absurd.

  • @RHCPFansite

Yes, I just uploaded that the other day - it was hiddeous!

  • ah yes, lets just cut it off right there. Nevermind all that debate that afterall is all us poor atheists want against the big bad religion, lets just cut it off there and nevermind the counterarguments. There may be religious extremists, but im damn well seeing some atheist ones, more and more by the day.

  • @skeptic54 But atheist extremists don't crash planes into buildings and they don't make laws forcing you to live by their religious laws.

If I was forced to meet with an extremist, I would choose the atheist extremist over a religious extremist every single time.

  • @sleazybtd "don't mak, they don't make laws forcing you to live by their religious laws" By secularising britain technically yes. Yes they do. Dosent necessarily make it wrong, but even so, worth thinking about.

  • @skeptic54 How do the secularized laws PREVENT you from following your religion?

In the US, some areas have laws preventing the sale of alcohol on Sundays. This is a religious law. As a non-christian, I'm prevented from having a heathen drunken party. Yes, I can buy the day before, but why should I be forced to follow someone else's religious beliefs? Without the ban, christians can still NOT buy alcohol.

How do secular laws PREVENT YOU from following your religious laws.

  • @sleazybtd If i were a mormon (which I'm not) then perhaps. Multiple marriages? Just because society thinks its wrong should we prohibit it?

democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine

  • @skeptic54 My personal belief is that polygamy should NOT be banned. Secular laws should be made from the point of view of whether or not someone is harmed. Anything beyond that and you're basically endorsing one religion or another.

You're right that democracy is mob rule, up to a point. In the US, we have a Constitution which moderates some of the uglier aspects of mob rule.

Even with it's disadvantages, democracy is still better than the alternatives. Do you have a better idea?

  • @sleazybtd My point is there is no perfect system. There is no right way or wrong way. There is no good system. There are only systems which cause discomfort to the smallest minority of people.

    Benevolent Dictator anyone?

  • @skeptic54 First off, there is no such thing as a benevolent dictator.

At least with a mob rule, you need 51% majority to take away the rights of the other 49%. With a dictator, one person can take away the rights of 100% of the population.

  • @sleazybtd we've gone off track from what we were originally discussing. One last thing though, out of curiosity whats your position on the illegalisation of drugs. I have heard many arguments that the only "harm" is self inflicted and so a persons choice.

  • @skeptic54 I'm all for legalizing drugs. I don't think it's any worse than getting drunk. But legalizing drugs would also have to be accompanied with strict laws for arresting people who use them in an irresponsible manner, similar to laws outlawing driving while drunk.

  • HOLY SHIT...

    part 2?

  • Richard Dawkins is so fantastic. I really don't understand why people say he's arrogant or strident. He's usually so polite and soft-spoken, but he doesn't just whimper and walk away from fundies, and I think that's what they don't like.

  • i saw this when it went live, and this editing is appalling. Dawkins totally defeated this excuse for a teacher of islam. If you don't believe me, go watch an unadulterated version of this video. Then you will believe me.
