Rationality is a political tool because, well, it's rational. There are many different religions, some differ only slightly while others are way out there. With all these different beliefs doesn't it make sense to utilize only what is tangible and real? This rock solid information HAS to be accepted by ALL the religions, whether this information is convenient for them or not.
