Without doubt the best western series ever IMHO. The Virginian comes a very close second. I loved this series, it was one of my late dad's favourites.
I absolutely love this show! Thnak you BigJohn! One of my all time favorite episodes is called "A Way of Justice" --- Any chance of that one being uploaded soon?
I have alot of great memories of most of the cast. My Dad was a stuntman/actor back then and doubled for Mark Slade then and had parts off and on during the shows running, even as an Indian sometimes.lol Sorry I have to say that the only thing I can remember of Leif erickson is that he was mean during shooting anyway,(the only time I ever saw him). Lots of other memories. For those who had or have a crush on Linda, my brother use to go with her to her dressing room, he was only like 9-10,lol.
When "The High Chaparral" premiered on NBC in the fall of 1967, the tv western was beginning to wind down. Despite critical acclaim and a moderately successful run of four years, the series is often forgotten when put alongside other longer running westerns such as "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "The Virginian", "Rawhide", "Wagon Train", etc.....
Adding to this is the fact that the show is seldom seen in reruns......
This show never really got the acclaim it deserved; It should have won every award in the television/entertainment genre, twice. I think the networks might even get a surprise if they ran it nowadays at primetime Saturday nights.-(when us 50 somethings are at home and all the young rappers are out..) .
Ty for posting this, I'm upgrading my internet plan now so I can watch lots more!
remember when this first aired for the very first time and thinking,Oh,man, what a great western, plus good looking men, too! Up until then it was Maverick,Gunsmoke, etc.
this I surrender I love it, God willing and he/she had seen it when it was small, but thanks to you I can see it how many times he/she wants and I don't get tired of seeing them. thank you.
este capitulo me encanta, ojala y lo hubiera visto cuando era chica, pero gracias a ti lo puedo ver cuantas veces quiera y no me canso de verlos. gracias.
Yes. I feel old!!I loved this show. Big John Cannon, Uncle Buck, Blue Boy, and Manolito. Victoria Cannon (Linda Cristal).was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Of course I was only six then. Forty years later that's still true. Thanks for posting.
THC was a terrific TV show & one of my all-time favorite westerns next to Laredo. The location filming of this series in Arizona really enhanced the enjoyment of it.

Realistic, on-location program. Legendary show filled with adult themes, much like "The Big Valley", but better.
