  • i don't remember ever seeing the beginning? and seeing the 1st Mrs. Cannon! what a treat! thank you!

  • Damned injuns!

  • great show they dont makem like that anymore really fun to watch

  • I thought it was great that I can show my kids and grandchildren my grandpa's brother-Big John Cannon.

  • Excellent episode!, being a Tucson native brings a lot of memories. Good Job ...

  • Without doubt the best western series ever IMHO. The Virginian comes a very close second. I loved this series, it was one of my late dad's favourites.

  • Is that Kim Darby in a bad wig?

  • damn i miss this...used to watch probably every episode when i was very young :,)

  • Realistic, on-location program. Legendary show filled with adult themes, much like "The Big Valley", but better.

  • I absolutely love this show! Thnak you BigJohn! One of my all time favorite episodes is called "A Way of Justice" --- Any chance of that one being uploaded soon?

  • Thank you for uploading this. I was 11 years old when this series began airing on television, and it is my favorite western.

  • I have alot of great memories of most of the cast. My Dad was a stuntman/actor back then and doubled for Mark Slade then and had parts off and on during the shows running, even as an Indian sometimes.lol Sorry I have to say that the only thing I can remember of Leif erickson is that he was mean during shooting anyway,(the only time I ever saw him). Lots of other memories. For those who had or have a crush on Linda, my brother use to go with her to her dressing room, he was only like 9-10,lol.

  • October 27, 2011 will be Leif Erickson's 100th birthday.

  • When "The High Chaparral" premiered on NBC in the fall of 1967, the tv western was beginning to wind down. Despite critical acclaim and a moderately successful run of four years, the series is often forgotten when put alongside other longer running westerns such as "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "The Virginian", "Rawhide", "Wagon Train", etc.....

Adding to this is the fact that the show is seldom seen in reruns......

  • With David Dortort doin the writing it had to be good. I like this better than alot of the Bonanza episodes.

  • This show never really got the acclaim it deserved; It should have won every award in the television/entertainment genre, twice. I think the networks might even get a surprise if they ran it nowadays at primetime Saturday nights.-(when us 50 somethings are at home and all the young rappers are out..) .

Ty for posting this, I'm upgrading my internet plan now so I can watch lots more!

  • remember when this first aired for the very first time and thinking,Oh,man, what a great western, plus good looking men, too! Up until then it was Maverick,Gunsmoke, etc.

  • WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • They just had a High Chaparral reunion here in Tucson at Old Tucson a week or so ago......

  • i have been to old tucson a couple of times, it was really amazing to see the set after growing up in the u.k watching it as a kid

  • My favorite show when I was a kid. I am so glad it's here on YouTube.

  • don't you feel old watching this? I was ten when I used to watch this. I used to watch in black and white

  • Yes. I feel old!!I loved this show. Big John Cannon, Uncle Buck, Blue Boy, and Manolito. Victoria Cannon (Linda Cristal).was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Of course I was only six then. Forty years later that's still true. Thanks for posting.
