if your comment is "the drum beat is all wrong", and then someone says "they did it that way on purpose just to change it up a little" and then you say "well why not do an original", that PROVES to me you don't know much. the answer to *why* they don't do an original is because they WANTED to do a COVER but CHANGE it a little. a cover is not defined as "play it EXACTLY LIKE the original. people do this all the time. if you were a "35 year pro", you wouldn't ask such a question.

sorry dude. we'll have to agree to disagree. while some covers are great done straight up, some of the best ones I've heard are far different than the original. also, the original song is in 4/4, so although this version has a more straight ahead beat, it's not like they totally dumbed it down. he just double timed it and dropped the tom tom and hi-hat accents. it's not the end of the world :) suffice to say I like both versions but the original is a classic.

Agree the original is a classic, although not my favourite XTC track. Think the test of time will show. I'm sure people will remember XTC & Primus, these guys I'm not so sure.
