congrats on ur work mate .. bigg shout out to the americans from australia n new zealand .. keep the peace . one love ! p.s TONGA gona win the Rugby WOrld Cup 2o11 next comming weeks .. haha jks mann .. one LOVE !
theres too many rules when it comes to the ruck area in rugby union which is what these kids are playing. i think rugby league would suit america better than rugby union. the rules of rugby league is more similar to gridiron than rugby union. type in rugby league in the search to check it out. its more physical than union but not as fast paced which would suit big americans. its still a fast paced game but a little less than rugby union so yeah check out rugby league in the youtube search
If I had it my way, id show you how to play touch FOOTBALL first, instead of this type of rugby, you dnt learn shit!, this way. just catch and run pppfff.
I really like that these little 'All Blacks' did a haka. I just wish they took a bit more time to work on their pronunciation! It sounded almost like Spanish, rather than Maori! But all the same, good onya lads (and ladies!)
@bloodfly3 they have to in this instance due to there being girls in the team as well. if it was all boys or all girls then they would be playing touch footy. it sounds stupid but its to cooincide with the law and rules in the education system.
Awesome to see rugby growing in the states, and to all of those people dissin their haka get over it at least they gave it a go, we should be glad that people are interested in our culture.
Nice post .. im from Wales and its our national sport ... If USA get behind Rugby they would have a great side i think .... But no offence .. beating the all blacks .. I dont think so ... All the best
ahhh this is the future - usa playing rugby... brings a tear to the eye - a giant awakens - come on guys wake up and play the rest of the worlds sports... there has to be room for soccer and rugby too, there are all the gaelic games to discover also, how did you forget the games of your ancestors?
I totally support you Mark and Play Rugby USA and have posted this on facebook for Al caravelli, Brian Vizard and Salty Thompson and all my rugger friend to see. hope that was ok. I live in Ca but was raised in NY and did not see rugby until i moved to CA in 1978.
Thanks for the comments, The Haka the students performed is to honour and a tribute to the Maori tradition/culture and meant in no other way. Each team at the Mayors cup, which this prog features, "represented" a rugby playing nation and as part of Play Rugby USA's youth development philosophy the schools were given the task of researching their country. When the team that were assigned NZ saw the Haka for the 1st time they were so blown away they wanted to share it with all the other schools
@PlayRugbyUSA as a newzealand maori my self i think its fantastic that another nation understands wat our haka or war dances were for ....they are a challange and its up to the opponants to take thechallange these kids need to be shown a real haka in person from the allblacks so they can feel and hear the challange that would be so kool
@PlayRugbyUSA I'm a maori from NZ bro and i dug it, although it looks a little different than what im used to, The fact those kids want to represent is awesome. Go hard man, rugby is gods game
it would good to see rugby grow in the u.s.. big market and alot of money, plus they would have alot of talent with the african americans with natural speed, size, strength....trying to lure them away from american football is a tough task..good luck!
Its great that the kids that played flag rugby are now progressing through the ranks to play full contact rugby, there were a lot of students on the day that could carry on and have a very successful time playing rugby if given the chance
Your right Master, flag rugby really focuses on the core skills of the game, we play non contact here in NYC with no scrums or lineouts either and it is basically like 7's. (amazing anti obesity tool) one of the reasons for the non contact is we very rarely ever coach at schools with fields, normally just a basketball court or hard top yard, and no one wants to tackle on there! Thanks for the comment
awesome program!!!!!! keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!
