It reminded my of a lead singer of the group "A Boy and His Dog" that I loved in a small nightclub near Seattle when I was in the Army in 1970. When I was told it was originally done by Heart I researched and found that Ann Wilson was that singer! This video shows that when Carie sang Alone with Heart, she held back to not outdo Ann on her signature song. Classy!

ok..at 1:59 Ann Wilson (of Heart, the original performers of this song) does that run, and it is the entire centrepeice of the song...the key change and the run...it's the goosebump moment every time... the fact that Carrie skipped it on American Idol when she performed this song has always baffled me..it kinda proves that even though she has one of the greatest voices around she really doesn't get it artistically...if she'd done it it would have made the best AE performance ever legendary.

Wow, I never watched American Idol so didn't see Carrie in action, but hearing her sing the chorus here... GOOSEBUMPS. Her voice gave me actual chills (this is such a good song for that).

She's awesome. But sometimes, I really catch her running out of breath. Plus the way she belts might put nodes to her vocal chords. She's dope though! Just concerned^^

Wow, I never watched American Idol so didn't see Carrie in action, but hearing her sing the chorus here... GOOSEBUMPS. Her voice gave me actual chills (this is such a good song for that).
Now I'll have to look up some of her past performances.

Amazing voice. The problem with Carrie though, is that she had a great, easy life and there is very little emotion in her voice when she sings. She needs to find some problems.

She could make so amazing music... But here songs on her cds are much tooo slow... Her best song ever is before he cheats... I also like so small, which she has co-written i think... On Play on there is only quitter, which i like... But her voice is amazing.

i know this is blasphemous, i do love ann lewis, and celine is great in her own right. but carrie's voice sounds a bit cleaner in in control for me on this song, i think it's my fave. ann shows a bit more emotion though which is great - of course, it's her song.
