  • The introduction of my favourite Dr.Who assistant,Leela.

  • thumbs up if you think they should have kept leela's eyes blue for the whole time she was on the show. Brown contacts clash with her brown ensamble.

  • @ion010101 Philip Hinchcliffe was the producer who wanted "Who" to move away from being a kids show. He wanted it to be appreciated by intelligent college kids and adults so thus he moved it in a darker, gothic, horror direction. In his era, you can see a heavy influence from "Hammer" films. Also the scripts are more complex, intelligent and cynical for good reason. Having a nonconformist bohemian eccentric(Tom Baker) as the Doctor helped as well. Might be why many love this era so much.

  • @ion010101 I have that to look forward then

  • @ion010101 So you don't like modern Doctor Who then I take it. Well even though I never saw the Classic Series originally (I`ve got several DVDs though) I prefer old Who to the New. I still like todays though

  • @CYBERDOODY I find that most diehard fans of the series who are familiar with both eras(classic and modern) thoroughly dislike the modern series for many obvious reasons. Tom Baker IS the Doctor and THIS is "Doctor Who". The absolute peak and everything that was/is good about the show. We wouldn't even be talking about "Who" today if it wasn't for the utter genius of Tom Baker, Philip Hinchcliffe, and Robert Holmes. These are the men who revolutionized the show and made it popular Worldwide!

  • @MetalheadJay78 Agreed; I do like Moffats direction with the series but Hinchcliffe and Holmes are still my personal favourite team! Moffat is better than RTD too. But yeah Hinchliffe years are best!

  • @ion010101 Kids shows and Family shows are different things. I`m saying that it was not just for kids thats all

  • @ion010101 It was a family show

  • Wish this was on DVD, or at least on iTunes.

  • The sound of the Phantoms sounded so much like a Skarasan lol

  • I thought this was face of evil from lifetime >.<

  • cant wait for 2012 when this gets a dvd realease

  • I don't understand why this particular story isn't out on DVD yet!

  • @lukedaines21 Out next year, apparently.

  • OMG I LOVE LEELA!! SHE'S SUCH A BAD ASS!!!

  • 'Well Nobobys perfect'

  • I've done voice acting for Indy games...Wish I had that good a death scream.

Thanks for posting this first Leela episode, savethewho

  • Oh Mädchen... Du hast recht! Wiederruf doch nicht!

    3:49 Nee! Wirklich nicht!

9:25 Doctor: Biete doch mal de Daleks und den Cybermen Jelly Babys an! Könnte helfen, oder? :-)

  • They don't make great shows like this anymore.

  • The Fourth Doctor is one of my favorite doctors of all time.

He's the one who inspired me to keep a bag of jelly babies in my pocket (lol).

  • Real manly screams you Brits got.

  • "the evil one"

    "well nobodies perfect"

  • "they say the evil one eats babies"

poor leela, listens to too many stories

  • I shouldn't laugh at death, but that blokes scream was hilarious.

  • @ion010101

    Very eloquently put.......

    Excellent comment

  • I'm the guy who gets shot in the back with the arrow........ouch.....

    Aitch,

  • @theoncomingstorm121 he does it as well at the end of the invasion of time leela's last episode.

  • This is one of my favorite Tom Baker stories... Old school Who ftw

  • if we ignore the fact he's breaking the fourth wall, He's probably just gotten used to people going through the routine of: "We're not where you said we would be, Let's have a look around."

  • YAY, Leela!! One of the best companions and one of my faves.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for these, it was funny the Doctor being called evil.

  • This is probably in my top 5 faves of all time.

  • Tom litterally smashing the fourth wall...

  • Dr who and jelly babies!

  • Ah yes, old weird drwho. So different from all the other eras. Makes you wonder...

  • "Now tread carefully. [falls]"

    I find that amusing.

  • thanks for putting this on youtube.

  • I Love the Tom Baker series. They are the best ones! I also love the old theme tunes. It is really good, and this was before my time!

  • I wish I wish oh how I wish they would put out dvds of these that don't have the credits interrupting every 23 minutes. It's just annoying to have to be ready with the remote to quickly mute the "SSCCCRRREEEEEEDEDEDEDEDE" of the ending credits every 23 minutes. They used to put out vhs tapes with the whole episode from beginning to end without interruption from credits. I'd much rather own those. It's weird to me that more haven't complained about this.

  • Because dear chap, Alot of people prefer the cliffhangers as they were broadcast...Who DOESN'T love it when the theme screams in during a cliffhanger, it's a staple of Doctor who,

  • Ask around. I find it obnoxious and really rather not in keeping with the tone of the rest of the show (as it was in those days). But, as I've said a zillion times, drwho had the very unfortunate bad luck to have no creative control - no one who knew what defined the show. What it managed to be for a short while in the 70s was, sadly, a fluke for the most part. No one makes tv shows for bright children on purpose. We prefer to talk down to kids. We prefer lowest common denominator crud.

  • @99rhetbaboons I agree 100%. First Russel Davis and his soap opera crap and now mr moffat and his fairy tale nonsense. If you dare disagree over on the series 6 trailer be prepared to be called all sorts of names and accused of "not liking" Dr Who. Some of those guys on there are down right scary with their blind devotion to dr who.

  • @TheOnComingStorm121

Yeah, it just isn't the same without it.

  • @TheOnComingStorm121 I like it better that way myself! Well said!

  • It's nice to beable to watch these classic doctor who videos before they come out on video somday, P.S. type in tmediaofdeath in the youtube browser the guy has alot of old videos. Have fun checking those out who ever watches this video.

  • thanks for that bit of info

  • WOWO! AWSOME
