  • Borax

  • What have you put on top? . the kind of salt?

  • VIDEO STARTS AT 0:42

  • damn that copper !!! i also have a hard time trying to melt the son of bitch

  • This video was flagged. Why?!

  • I laughed my ass off when the screaming torch cut off and the gentle piano music resumed. Copper is pretty crazy.

  • Hey, could you tell me what stone is that? Some stone that can take high temperatures?

  • A UK PRE 1992 2P COIN IS 97% COPPER AND WORTH 4.2P IN SCRAP A 1P COIN IS WORTH ALMOST 3P....

  • what did you pour on it in the beggining? and why?

i've tried twice to melt copper. no luck. i did it with fire in an earth oven. i reached it's melting point but i think the problem was the cones i used. any ideas?the copper melted only in the bottom of the oven and just because the cones broke down there

  • @enoploskinimatografo i forgot what it's called but it makes it melt faster?.... i should've payed attention in welding class

  • @TeamXS7 They use borax.

  • hey what kind of torch you use to melt that and what did you add on the top

  • wth its pure white!?

  • It's neat to watch, but I'm not sure I understand the point.

What kind of torch is that?

  • kill it after its dead why dont u

  • holy fashizzznit.

  • What tool is that?

  • this looks delicious.

  • why did the room get so dark?

  • awesome

  • what's the salt you sprinkle on before heating and why?

  • @PandoraLeigh

    my guess it was borax

  • Melting money right there!! -TX

  • Careful you burn yourself

  • What is that white powder you sprinkle on top of the copper for? what is it called?

  • put it on someones neck

  • touch it =D

  • lol i touched red hot metal before by accident imagine that one it was almost white

  • cool

  • touch it!!!!!!

  • Copper can TAKE A TON OF HEAT melts at 1941 degrees F. Your firebrick looked like it was not rated for high temp, you need refractory ceramics. 3000 degree bricks if messing with melting copper. It was cool to see it melt. Hope to hell you had safety gear on. In fact if that brick "popped" and splattered 1900 degree copper ,a poly carb face shield may not have saved you. This is why melting metals is best done in an enclosed forge with a melting crucible

  • @definca theres always idiots out there who have the basic gear and think " i know ima melt me sum copper", and those bricks are possible the worst thing he could have used, they are aerated concrete (lots of bubbles) so are prone to popping

  • dare to touch it O.o

  • @puerkola dare you to lick it :P

  • @EssenceMiner2010 My tongue hurt when i read your comment lol

  • @EssenceMiner2010 dare you to fuck it :-)

  • Hold the burn closer to the thing, where the blue turns to orange its the hottest well about a 1 / 16 of an inch away from that ..

    Cheers

  • Ok now what do ya do with it?

  • MELTED BRICK

  • what is that sound? it doesnt like the burner. its a blowdryer?

  • it does that when it's not putting out alot of gas, probably trying to save fuel, i do that to

  • Pause the video at 0:29, it looks awesome!!!

  • cool

  • i liked it better when it was a bit of pipe

  • 3:04 i mean...

  • 3:19 wow so beautiful

  • Beautiful! Once copper gets melted with megajoule of energy, it burns brightly.

  • Comment removed

  • waste of gas but fun

  • No you dumbass son of a bitch.

  • is this mapp gas or butaine or propane

  • wow mega torch lol

  • thats a powerful torch!

  • whats that sand shit you sprinkled on top?

  • Most likely Borax

  • Flux most probably, helps stop oxidising.

  • touch it! Touch it!!

  • I wish I could afford a really high-temperature torch so I could melt stuff.

  • home depot... oxy mapp for 50 bux, or a standard mapp for 20

  • How high a temperature can the $50 Oxy Mapp generate?

  • enough to weld, however the small oxygen cylinders cost 8 bux and they only last about 15 minutes max.

i use my standard mapp torch running on propane to melt aluminum works fine

    google "reli burner"

these are easy to build, and produce a TON of heat

  • dude i bought a popane can for 3 bucks and a torch tip for 12 bucks so for 15 bucks a torch is not very expensive,

and the 12 dollar tip lasted me years even tho its cheap

  • While I was in my grandmothers basement, I found a 30 year old torch, light it up, worked just fine. they really do last forever.

  • what happens if u keep that up for like 5 hrs straight ? would it

    desintigrate?

  • nice

  • That was cool

  • what are those things floating on the top of the metal from 1:45 to 2:47? How do I get rid of them >:0

  • like helge said its just slag...a normal part of the melting process....all you have to do is simply scrape it off....

  • Those might be bubbles.

  • When you melt metal to a liquid, there are little things floating on the top of it and spinning. What are these called and how do I get rid of them?

  • That's slag, aka impurities in the metal.

  • what did he pour on top of the copper?? does it help melt quicker of summin??

  • I'm guessing (really it's just a guess) that it might've been borax, which is a flux that prevents the copper from oxidizing as easily.

  • borax is generally used as a glassy type of flux for aluminum although if this guy is inexperienced he might use it...

  • dude... what kind of torch is that?

  • ice cream cone to ice cream puddle

  • im trying to melt copper wire, and its not going so well, im using a propane blowtorch and a steel pot

    any tips?

    tricks?

what kind of flux do you use if any?

  • thermite you can buy it from the military im selling.

  • What? His blow torch wouldn't even light the thermite.

  • you cant light a thermite grenade you pull a reall really big pin.

  • i tried it too and it did not work so i'm making a furnace

  • doing it with thermite is more fun and much faster.

  • i have an obsession of melting things...

  • i think theres a pill 4 that

  • Ecstasy?

  • its called acid

  • thats art huh?I'll give you a penny for it.

  • holy crap....

  • you could do that it 2 seconds with thermite!

  • but you wouldn't have copper... you would have a iron copper mix (I think its bronze)

  • Charizard does it faster!

  • was that flux or something that you put on it before hand?

  • IM MEALTING!!!!!!!!!!

  • does metal melt before rock generally?

  • rock doesn't melt!?! it starts turning to carbon though e.g the black stuff left on the rock

  • then what is magma

  • molten metal??

  • both???

  • lava?

  • magma is molten rock yes it does melt

  • lol that is the stupidest thing i have ever heared

  • rock melt in very very high temperatures and high pressure

  • WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU FIND PEACE OF COPPER OF THIS SHAPE!!!???

I am trying to find cone like that for years and no success!!!

  • now put it in ur mouth!

  • dude that is insane!!!!

  • How much fuel did you waste on 30 cents worth of copper?

  • who cares, it looked cool.

  • propane is like $3 a bottle and it last 16 hours! He used a whopping $0.15 worth of fuel!! GET A GRIP

  • That's pretty neat, a fast way to melt small amounts of metal. I like the quench at the end. :P
